to whom it may interest...

An update on mtgox (R.I.P.) web site:

this is for the bankruptcy they do I think have like 35mil in assets...but are what 750 million usd in debt

it will all be ate up by lawyers ....prev contracts ...salaries..rent...taxes etc

you get 1c on the dollar I'd be amazed

(Washington mutual refund holder..was a mortgage bank usa fines 500 million or some such I got a check for $10.38 usd
so if it is the same kinda bankruptcy deal...you are out of luck)

Funny how Mt. Gox is dead and yet there's a whole bi-product exchange going on, based solely on the potential of the recovery of coins.  My guess is people who have lost at Gox, are actually buying back GoxBux low in hopes to sell GoxBux high. exchanging and trading more etc...  Simply put, Goxxed traders should not get anymore sympathy if somehow Gox is re-established and they lose again. We can only care so much about your willingness to be screwed.

Karpeles fears for his life.

Many Silk Road users invested in Gox.

They will not take this lying down.

I believe, he will try everything possible to resurrect.

yes its dead:

This is fucking shit. I invested a little in Gox, so its bad for me but its ok, i can take it.

But there are people with hundreds of BTC in them.

You should also check that document, its unofficial but worth reading it:

http://de.scribd.com/doc/209050732/MtGox-Situation-Crisis-Strategy-Draft

the Japanese regulators and I assume law enforcement there say they have no power to look at or enforce laws on BTC

my guess is he will declare bankruptcy on his fiat $$$ in gox....and he actually COULD just take all the bitcoin for himself and walk

w/o penalty in that Japan considers btc play money and says they won't intervene...if find it interesting 1 week after the Japanese

regulators told him this he blacks out and walks from the site

so he may have just pulled of the greatest heist since gengis khan  in 'real money'

now if he really wants to take his toy and go home he just hast to sell large amounts of it ...drive price down to say 100 buck level

and then buy it back price rises to a level his ineptitude or other actions are covered with new $$$$
anyway
and viola ...we are back ..here is you btc now that we are back (worth 112 bucks) no fiat will be exchanged just coin

and he walks

w/o regulations no reason an exchange can't do this all day long all around the world .....the usa financial crisis w/o consequences

ie you me the btc market just eats this in price fluctuations ......

the above is worse case

imho I expect him to declare bankruptcy ....give exchange up to someone else for more $$$ and then he and us will get say
75% of our bitcoin only back (no fiat)...thru the new owner arrangement whatever

that is my best case

they botk kninda suck

anyway woulda/coulda/shoulda that is the boundry line on both sides imho on how this will shake out

Well, Mt Gox may be dead or just in a temporary coma (http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/02/25/us-mtgox-website-idUSBREA1O07920140225) - at any rate, it's time for a serious exchange like Kraken.com to gain some market share https://www.kraken.com/... Undecided

And in case you don't understand...yes, you were trading with non-existent and fake virtual bitcoins ?tokens?. They were never really on the exchange...apparently.

That's not strictly true. The Bitcoins traded were real bitcoins from user accounts that people had deposited on GOX. The exchanges ability to provide solvency for those Bitcoins is something else entirely and something that's open to wide speculation.

Truth be told no one knows anything.

Not dead. The play is rolling. New act on going.

FuKarpeles will solve customers balances by buying their balances "at the cheap Mt Gox price". Huh?? Smell Ponzi?

Lie over lie that document must be true, written by the fat rat himself. Just another bunch of lies, trying to get out with his ass full of money but not beaten by mommy.

Yesterday it was like around $348 and today dropped again to less than $150.

What's going on with mtgox?

Traders who aren`t scared are making money by buying low and selling high. I only had 1 bitcoin in mtgox a few days ago - now I have 6.5, just selling that one bitcoin on highs and buying back on lows.

However this current (mostly manufactured) 'crisis' plays out, it's clear that mtgox's potential to profit from it has been huge. It's highly unlikely that they have not leveraged the situation to their financial advantage somehow.

What's almost certain however is that any funds they have left, even after this latest in a string of ongoing fiascos, will never cover the existing and upcoming lawsuits to be filed against them.

MtGox is dead, whether they know it or not. They can never rebuild the confidence they've lost at this point.

Gox is far from dead. Even if its going under in the long term, there is still a long way to go. The volume is the heaviest there right now, despite it primarily being based on btc just changing hands between gox users

That information is outdated

the price is raising from 100usd to 322usd. THATS REALITY

On 21-22 February reach that 100usd, the whole disaster served with all ingridients: price pluming, extremely bad news, investors complaining....

the equivalent to: when there's blood on the street, buy in the market.

TO be honest, I don't know what will happen, I'm just a follower trender, and the trend now is up more than 200%.

In bitcoinbuilder, the only known way to get your goxbtc out from the exchange, the ratio is 0.57 realbtc/gox btc.  whereas the real ratio is around 0.51 between real btc/gox. this means that the market is paying extra to get gox btc. The bullish might fail or not, but they are assuming the risk towards the GAIN.

and that's what it is playing right now, expectations of GAIN.

Mt.Gox is dead.

Even if the “technical issues” that they are supposedly having are resolved, the trust is gone, and that is the most important asset a monetary exchange needs to have to succeed.

Bitcoin is now valued at under $100 USD on the major exchange, far below the average price of about $535 USD on other BTC exchanges. Customers are still unable to withdraw BTC, and technical issues (and the handful of protestors outside the Mt Gox offices) are still being blamed for this problem. Mt Gox of course seem to have neglected to mention exactly how the protesters are affecting their progress, when they themselves have made a statement saying that they’ve moved to their old office location (and the protesters have since been dispersed by the Japanese police and refused a demonstration licence).

So it seems that Mt Gox have locked themselves away, refusing interview requests, and maintaining arbitrary contact with the outside world through detached twitter posts, apologising to their ‘Valued customers’...

Pay your disrespects to the recently departed Mt Gox at: http://www.coinchilli.com/r-i-p_mt_gox/
