Coordinated attack. Surely. Unless big guys are not satisfied with their thirst for bitcoin, this will continue. Rest assured, the rise will be fast and smooth after that.

In the future, they should make it available to at least withdraw one's bitcoins and dollars, even if trading is down. People are going to get pissed more because their money is unavailable, not just because they can't trade.

someone does not want bitcoin to thrive.....

Perhaps the people attacking it are Bitcoiners themselves who simply want to encourage people to leave Mt. Gox and move to other exchanges  Roll Eyes

These recent events show that Mt. Gox is a central point of failure to Bitcoin.  Right now, Bitcoin is too centralized around Mt. Gox, and as users we need to move to new and better exchanges to help balance the load.  I'm considering moving my trading activity over to Coinsetter (http://coinsetter.com), Bitfloor (https://bitfloor.com), and Camp BX (https://campbx.com).

And here I thought it was them being victims of their own success.

 Grin Grin Grin
MtGox as a exchange is dead, when the storm is out, almost all the people will migrate to another exchangers

Isn't there a difference between a DDoS and DDoS attack?

Or did they say DDoS attack on their blog?

No... there is DDOS and there is poor capacity planning.  They seem to suffer from both.. Although plenty of others are able to handle massive DDOS all the time.

DDoS? Are you sure it's not just an overload from so many people trying to trade at the same time immediately after re-opening?
