I just noticed, that btc-e "looking" on Bitstamp now, not MtGox anymore.

what do you mean 'looking'

And I thought Gox was upgrading their trading platform after the large lag a month or so ago
They upgraded their trades per second from 19 to 30 or something.

are they purposely limiting it?

They're using nginx/1.3.11 which is unstable dev version. Stable version is 1.2.8
Unless they manually edited 502 error pages to show disinfo to throw off hackers

g0x archived 30 minutes lag already and nobody cares?

I'm pretty annoyed.  What other exchanges have a reasonable API, security, and are unlikely to have their bank accounts squashed?

BTC-e. Everyone should go there I just can't bring myself to use goxxxxx

Except you can't get funds to that damn place and no one has answers

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/cant-move-usd-to-btc-e-bitinstant-aurumxchange-181843

OKPay is the best way but then you are still doing a bank xfer to OKpay first.  It truly is a pain and I wholeheartly expect the BTC-e boys (read gangsters) to either be seriously hacked soon or up and leave with everyone's coins.  I hope I am wrong there.  Still hoping kraken.com is half as good as it looks.

Gox is killing BTC's already tarnished rep.  Unacceptable for the "The exchange that handles 80% of the trade"!  I don't trade there because I think the interface sucks balls.  But I ain't reel brite anyways.

I like sending coins there and trading there. When I do (rarely) cash some out I send my BTC elsewhere and cash out with other methods.

The API is still responding, at least for the ticker_fast method, but it's not trading. Can't they at least implement something that would allow users with a valid session/cookie to get through DDoS shielding ?

It is funny how out of the four slogans on their main page, only 1 is actually semi-true.

Take a guess at which

Move to bitstamp....

Why not btc24?

Why not *all of them* and use whichever one is most suitable and profitable at that moment in the spirit of decentralization?

I am working on a Bitcoin project that involves the use of a trading API, and because Gox is still the de-facto exchange in terms of volume, we are forced to use it as main exchange.

As a result of downtimes, we are now forced to introduce a GOXDOWN_MODE so that the engine can still run in degraded mode during such downtimes. Yes, I think it's a shame, but it's also an opportunity to avoid making Gox as a de-facto SPOF in the Bitcoin economy.
