I see what they're doing!

They're trying to flood the system with their own HIGH PRICE orders to buy their own LOW PRICE orders.

Can you explain this in more detail please?

Yeah, please do.

Nice.  I would consider that an exploit of bad code.  There has to be a way to avoid that.

I'm kind of scared at this "stress test" these people are doing.

Placing large amounts of ridiculous bids and asks with bots that have a BIG OMEGA NOTATION complexity of 1, while the search function has a minimum of N.

*** Initial announcement - more details will be made available within the next hours. ***

To our beloved Mt. Gox Clients,

During a planned system upgrade which introduced diverse support for multiple currencies, our locking mechanism did not operate as intended. As such, trades in the order book continued to execute during the upgrade.

Our team was able to spot the erroneous trading and immediately froze the system. After the upgrade was complete, we reverted all of the invalid trades to their original state. Following this, as an added precaution, we emptied the order book and recreated all of the open orders in order to rebuild the order book back to its original state.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we look forward to answering any more questions you may have through our support system. We firmly believe in transparency in our firm and wish to give thanks to all of our beloved clients for allowing us to serve them as the world's leading bitcoin exchange.

Problems, solutions, informing people as soon as possible of the situation.  +1 Gox.
