I've done this on Gox too. it would be good layer of protection from fat fingers.

why is this topic in speculation?

I've done it before! Smiley
I filled out the sell and submited on accident, didn't have sufficient funds, so I didn't think anything about it. So, I filled out the the buy (which is what I was going for)! Then when my order got executed, it immediately sold for the same price I bought for, effectively giving Gox about $7! It sucks I know! When in a hurry to get your order in before the price changes too much, it's an easy thing to do!

I have suggested this but not heard back. I would like them to add the option that can be turned on and off of not processing orders that are lower then the market selling price or higher then the market buying price, so as to prevent accidental mistakes, ie putting the wrong numbers in or filling in the buy instead of sell or vice versa. I do it more then I care to admit and have donated quite a lot to the mtgox coffers, my mistake of course but would be easy enough for them to offer as an option I would guess.
