MtGox is not Bitcoin. If MtGox is hacked, people are buying their bitcoins anywhere else. There are dozens of platforms there.

Even if all coins from MtGox would be stolen or even destroyed, bitcoins will be even more expensive after that!

If MtGox would be hacked, I would be first in line to scoop up as many Bitcoins for $0.01 as possible. Mr Buttcoin reminds me of people waving red flags on the first railroads. Afraid of advances in technology.

I've heard through the grapevine that MtGox will be victim of another major hack, will happen in the next month, expect BTC values to plummet once again.

This is it folks, this poster has a pretty strong track record of reliable sources and has been a very active member of the community, furthermore

I am an  active member of several communities, just not this one.  Don't say you weren't warned when you BTC's go back to < 1 100$

Can't wait !

BTC will never get there, not newbie friendly.

Do you really think you've brought novel material to the table? Seriously, guy...figure out what you are talking about before you make wild unsubstantiated claims.

Last time gox was hacked, it was a two week blip in the charts, and that was when there were two shaky alternatives. Now there are tons of exchanges, and the volume will merely shift to them if gox happens to get railed.

they could get a visit from their japanese regulator and have to freeze everything.

better to only store as much as you plan to trade.  withdrawing dwolla costs just $0.25 per transaction.  now that we have encrypted wallets, paper wallets and all that is needed to protect our bitcoins there shouldn't be huge amounts of funds stored at the exchanges.

Of course it will be attacked. It won't be the first time either... nor hundredth. MtGox is a tempting target for criminals.
The issue is how serious the damage will be. I'm betting minimal, they have a very capable crew.

"I think there is a world market for maybe five computers"

never is a long time.  So it is your belief that it is impossible to make Bitcoin "newbie friendly".  Not in a year, not in a century.

The irony of posting on a forum running on the largest, most popular network which is a direct descendant of the VERY newbie unfriendly ARPANET.

Mt Gox getting hacked didn't and won't push BTC below $1.  Thanks for your warning, someday I can say "I knew the guy who knew a guy who hacked Mt. Gox the second time".
