Finally got a response.

Seems I need to make a JPY wallet on MtGox.

Then buy
USD -> BTC

Then sell
BTC -> JPY

Click Settings -> Main Currency -> JPY -> Save

Now there will be 2 wallets, as a drop down. Click on the USD and will see JPY drop down option. Use that when selling BTC.

Hopefully we'll get our wires now.

Anyone else have experience doing this?

How long does it take for them to reply when sending a support ticket question?

Seems nobody home on their end to answer anything.

Depends on what your'e asking for.

Usually cancelling a fiat withdraw (so you can rebuy bitcoin) only takes a few days.

Other requests take days to weeks to months...

I been reading about a 5% fee if you wish to withdraw USD faster?

How do I do this?

I'd rather lose 5% than lose 100%.

Sounds like you have a verified account. Can't you just convert to bitcoin and withdraw bitcoin?

Already made the USD withdraw request over a month ago. Not living in the US though.

So I guess either wait more if they are even processing anything at all, or try to email them about the 5% extortion option.

You can ask them to cancel your withdraw and they will just return your funds back in USD. Make sure to let them know that you don't want to be charged a fee for the wire that didn't go through. Then just buy back in with your USD and you have BTC.

Maybe it would be faster to open up a Japanese bank account and ask for yen. I hear some people are (sometimes) getting one day turn-around's. I think the bank Gox uses is JapanNet or something like that. I was reading over a white paper last night about it. They seem to be a virtual bank - no physical branches. So, I'd guess one can sign up for a bank account with them online. But the bank website looks like it is only in Japanese. Someone that could get one day turn-around's from Gox could do some seriously profitable arbitrage trading over the market by opening a second exchange account on maybe Bitstamp - if all the fee's don't make it too profit resistant.

I'd give them their 5% extortion fee if they would simply allow me to have my bitcoins back.

Shoot them an email they'd happy to offer extortion fee. From what i've read you still have to wait a month maybe more though.

Also your other option is change convert to btc transfer and cash out on other exchanges, might be less than 5% if you time it right
