You don't need to do anything. There are a LOT of (opensource) applications and tools that support BIP39 seeds.

If you're concerned, I'd suggest downloading and keeping a copy of the current version of Electrum as that definitely support BIP39. At worst, if Electrum suddenly decided not to support it any longer, you could fire up the old version, import your seed and dump out the private keys...

Alternatively, create an offline copy of Ian Coleman's brilliant BIP39 tool (https://iancoleman.io/bip39/) It requires no internet connection to work (and you should run it offline anyway)... It is able to convert BIP39 seeds to the addresses/public/private keys using whatever Derviation Path you require (m/0' and m/1' for MultiBitHD)...

I have some funds in Multibit HD wallet, which is no longer supported. I’d like not to use these funds right now or in the near future. So, I’ve got my BIP39 seed words (Multibit HD generated). Do I really need to do anything right now? As long as I have the seed words I have my funds, isn’t that right?
Could be that there is something going to happen to BIP39 seed, like it will go out of use, or there will no longer be an option available to recover with BIP39 on another wallet?
I can now recover with my Multibit HD generated BIP39 on Electrum, then move the funds from the wallet generated with my BIP39 seed words to a wallet with Electrum generated seed. I’m just trying to understand why would I really need to do so? Why not just keep my Multibit HD generated seed words and do nothing?
Thank you.
