Yeah, two years later, I figured out that multibit was a bad choice back then, oops. I will try to change the derivation and then see if I can locate my address for the corresponding transaction and import my private key into Electrum.  I will let you know how it works out.  Thanks!

Multibit HD have some Bugs and it is not recommended to use it and it is not supported anymore. You can import easy the private keys from your addresses with any balance in Electrum

Back when bitcoin was cheap I bought some bitcoin, paid a vendor, never received the change. Although the blockchain shows the payment completed and verified.

what do you mean by "never received the change"?
so is this 1D4Zv4xre... your receiving address or your change address?

Okay, then after or if I find the key matching the transaction in question, can I add all those keys into another wallet or how does that work.

I just tried to restore my wallet in multibit HD for the 20th time and while syncing it did state in my transactions that the payments were confirmed. Then once it finished syncing it was back to unknown. And still unconfirmed balance.
yes you can import to another wallet.
it seems something wrong with your multibitHD wallet syncing procedure.

No try this in the Mnemonic Code Converter in the field "BIP32 Derivation Path"

(or give me your seed  Grin Wink )

Try the BIP32 Derivation Path " m/0'/1 " instead " m/0'/0 ". This work for me, and give me the private keys from the exchange addresses.

Now excuse me as I have no idea how to change that in multibit hd. Do you have to edit one of the files for the program?

I used the Mnemonic Code Converter v0.3.2 and with my seed phrase listed out 300+ keys and cannot find the key above from blockchain.
Have you tried changing the Derivation Path? I'm not sure how Multibit does it, but from the wallets I've used, this can make a difference. Read https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0044.mediawiki#Change for details.

Make a post asking for help in the multibit board here.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=99.0

You haven't lost your coins. The experts in that board regularly help people with the same problem as you. They will be able to explain the steps needed to recover your coins.

This is the transaction, but multibit HD shows the two transactions as pending with two arrows.

I have restored the wallet numerous times from file and my seed phrase.

I used the Mnemonic Code Converter v0.3.2 and with my seed phrase listed out 300+ keys and cannot find the key above from blockchain. I am not very savvy with bitcoin, but am learning slowly that I must have made a mistake somewhere. I know multibit is full of bugs and think that is it, I have lost my bitcoins. They show as unspent, but I cannot access them. Multibit HD shows the balance, but unconfirmed.

Can anyone lend me some suggestions?
