MultiBit will try to rebroadcast a transaction (at start up) if it failed to broadcast it before.

It is not going to recreate another tx and broadcast it, not least because it cannot sign the transaction without the password that you enter.

Anyhow, what is on the blockchain is what is definitive so go with that.

It is pretty straight forward isn't it? Then why is BitPay telling the company to give me a round around and saying they don't have the coins? I will be contacting them now but I do want to know why Multibit isn't trying to rebroadcast the same TXID but instead is creating new TXIDs for the same amount which caused this problem?

Well from the data on blockchain.info it looks pretty simple to me.

You first send 0.310034 BTC to 14krMaiJGw3tLUqzJ2KyKRhgWRd1JuARxi
since you used an input of 4.4243 BTC you previously received on 1KBmtxFbGpWj22usuoupnLm5hnA6edHi3N
Multibit created another output for 4.114166 BTC to 1CZYfbWj4QXPYMbNjbYBuW1W7BUhNV3J1W
This is called change and its common for wallets to use a new address for it.

Later (~1 hour according to bc.i) another TX was created that also send 0.310034 BTC to 14krMaiJGw3tLUqzJ2KyKRhgWRd1JuARxi
again the change is send back to you.

Since bitpay claims the payment was done and under the assumption that you didnt use a different address it is safe to assume they control 14krMaiJGw3tLUqzJ2KyKRhgWRd1JuARxi and thus have received double payment from you. Thus they can and should return 0.310034 to an address of your liking.

How it came that the TX was send twice is beyond me.

Hey all, to explain what exactly happened, I had coins essentially disappear into thin air, according to the receiving company and Bitpay.

Background is, I went to make a payment through a company which is using BitPay. When I sent the coins, an error occurred, 2 TXIDs sent, both confirmed. No joke, both confirmed. BitPay is claiming that they only received one transaction, but the blockchain shows differently.

Transaction 1: https://blockchain.info/tx/b5d4a3022b5add42b1bb7a85260fddd0cf090a83947994346282e7a43805d7d6

Transaction 2: https://blockchain.info/tx/c2b6a1073e9619be8ed88a7976ea561756ca84be50313a146cee9c17708f2cd9

Invoice: https://bitpay.com/invoice?id=6GKF3sE7bn1TN725DxxxiB

The problem with Multibit was that the first transaction failed, then it sent me a warning that no coins were in my wallet then crashed. By the time I was able to sync and open it again, another batch of coins sent out. The 2nd batch is the batch of coins that Bitpay is claiming they never received and to contact Multibit for an explanation of why their software failed?

Seriously, don't want to lose $75 due to failure of a service. What are my options how do I get this resolved? Why the hell is Bitpay claiming that they never received the overpaid coins when they clearly did?
