Guys this excites me to have the two days privilege of free subscription out of the three days, all the channels were opened and they later lock them after the end of the three days, well to me, i see it as their own way of wishing their users both new and existing customers happy Christmas, but how i wish they can also extend this same free sub to the new year celebration, maybe the first week in January this time or at least the first three days as they did for Christmas.
Stingy people. Why only 3 days? Why dem no make am a week, to thank the whole Nigerians for being their able customers for years despite their high subscription payment wey peso no d enjoy due no light or network palava from their end.

For the past 2 months I never bothered myself of subscribing to my GOTV. Reason being that, most of GOTV channels no d show. I subscribe to Supa Plus of 13900 wey supposed the show all GOTV channels, na few stations I get, not getting the main channels of why I subscribe for GOTV highest package

A good marketing strategy to retain the existing customers and invite new customers to their company. Multichoice have gradually become a household name in the west African continent especially in Nigeria where their major market lies. Although they've gotten some small competitors including TSTV in the Nigerian market, Multichoice have remained the industry leaders in the video TV/entertainment industry for decades with little competition in that line as far as African companies are concerned.

But regardless, they still need to appeal their customers so that the customers go continue they do them wella. Particularly as the likes of Netflix and YouTube don show now and them don they compete wella for market too. Unfortunately sef me no be the fan of all these decoders based on say I no they sitdown one place and anytime wey you see me sitdown na money I they look for, for online. By then, I no really get time for all those things.

MultiChoice has made it official announcement in giving a 3 days free subscription open to all it's active and inactive DSTV and GoTv users across the nation https://nairametrics.com/2024/12/27/dstv-woos-customers-with-72-hours-of-free-access-to-all-channels/ this was to mark the celebration of the festive season and also a move in making it a memorable one for the people across the nation, this was moved as a compensation to their loyal customers patronage althroghout the year and to also compensate themm over the increase of the subscription packages increments in price, which led to loosing a number of their users.

What do you have to say on these:

1. Does it change the mentality of the people towards using their services or not
2. Will it draw more users in consideration for their service or make no impact at all.
3. Why can't they make all their packages to all users, having all the channels subscription opened, since no one can afford to watch two channels at the same time.

Please know this that the information was not verified to be true by me, but what I saw online, please DYOR.
72-hours of free access to all channels is what you want to use as yardstick to achieve all the 3 options you've listed out, that's practically impossible. Their are fundamentally reasons why Nigerians are boycotting MultiChoice, outside football channels, what are the significant channels they have, that they have to segment their subscription, instead of making subscription flat rate for everybody. Most of the movie they show for full DSTV and GOTV packages are old movie and series. People are wiser now, instead of paying heavy subscription on DSTV to watch live matches, most persons now prefer to use their gadgets and stream it live on different websites. MultiChoice needs to understand that times have changed, we are not in 2006 where they had the monopoly of detecting whatever they want to Nigerians, they either reduce full package to flatrate for everybody or continue to lose customers. These are the days of smart TV, I can watch any movie or series I want with or without MultiChoice.

2. Will it draw more users in consideration for their service or make no impact at all.
apart from houses that have a lot of children that washes DSTV and the fact that lovers of sports games make use of super sports for most of their games, the usefulness of multichoice has reduced and people even prefer to surf the social media or make use of Netflix or movie box for most of their entertainment needs. this three-day bonus is just a way of encouraging users to subscribe and in a way also encourage those that are regular subscribers.

by opening all the channels, you get to see some interesting channels you have not been watching because of the package you have been subscribing and that can give you the tendency of wanting to upgrade on your package which obviously is a win for the multi choice company. this is strictly business and nothing more.
3. Why can't they make all their packages to all users, having all the channels subscription opened, since no one can afford to watch two channels at the same time.
is that even possible? if i am not wrong, for each of the channel that is aired on their platform, they have to pay a certain amount and get some sort of permission for such to be displayed on their channel. if all the channels are shows once you have subscribed, then the cost of subscription will be pretty expensive and impossible for people to subscribe.

what they can do that will help could be to do it in such a manner that you pay as you watch. because of light issues, even after you have done your subscription, some months you might not enjoy it up to 2 weeks which can be very discouraging to subscribe again the next month. the best way they can do that will show that they are concerned about the customers satisfaction is just to maintain this charge but let it be that your subscription only reads when you are using it.
