I've been getting really into computer security lately, so the pseudo-anonymity of Bitcoins is spectacular; however, I have read that your anonymity is only really applicable as long as all of the Bitcoin addresses associated with your wallet are not compromised. The wallet, then, is only as strong as it's weakest link.

I would like to be able to add an address to forums such as this, but not compromise the other addresses in that wallet.

So, my question is that of the options for multiple wallets. Can you run wallets on a single computer account side by side? Should I be looking into eWallet services?

Thank you for the guidance! Smiley

OP - here's a good post on cold storage (offline wallet).  The gist of it is that you should have a wallet that never touches a network:  http://georgeoughttohelp.tumblr.com/post/46937654072/transferring-bitcoins-to-a-secure-offline-wallet-using

usb, cd, handwritten, whatever. A code is a code, it'll still work no matter where it's stored. An address is an address with (x)Bcoin value. Methinks ....

Oh, you're talking about literally copying the address to the offline computer. I'm not sure what I thought you meant XD

Well you can get a bog standard laptop that works for about $150 nowadays ... that's one bitcoin. That way you have a secure, disconnected wallet that you never have to worry about. I'd not trust a phone to keep them, for sure.

From what ive gathered the best best to keeping a wallet secured is to purchase a cheap laptop that never connects to the net (no malware, spyware, etc) and instantly back up every wallet address on that. Or even write them out by hand so you have a physical copy of the addresses you need to ask for BTC  at blockchain.

That does seem like the best way, but not exactly the most cost effective as of currently :p

Armory has multiple wallet features, and it is very secure. It also runs along side with bitcoin-qt so no downloading a new blockchain.

Thanks, mate. I'd not heard about that client before, but am glad I know of it now.
