Wont really that much needed if you are just intending to create and account in coinbase because you just basically able to register on setting that username and password and email of course.

Adding up your mobile phone would be required if you do really tend to make use of their service and as part of security of account
then it is mainly needed.

Dont recommend about buying those virtual numbers because it is actually different if you do have an actual ones.

If your account is locked, you do not resort to buying new accounts! Best thing to do is to get the old one back by having it unlocked/unblocked unless there are some details you have shared about the old account.

This makes it worst if OP will agree with your suggestion, how can you be sure that you can use again this virtual Simcard in the next verification.

This idea isn't good, it seems you've to violate the User Agreement of Coinbase. Read this carefully and you will understand how you will recover back your banned account in Coinbase, reaching their support is the best thing that you can do to get unbanned and not bypassing their verification procedures.

I don't think it's possible to open an account without a phone number. Nowadays not using Coinbase, But I was a user of Coinbase. For creating an account I need to use my mobile number and Email id. Every time when I tried to log in to my account they send me a code at my number also send an email code. So both of them are needful for use Coinbase.

The buy and sell Coinbase account is not good at all. Because if future again you can get locked your account with the fund. Then what you will do? My suggestion is for you that try to talk to Coinbase support about the problem. Hope they will provide you a good solution. Buying a Coinbase account is not a solution at all. It's very risky. I don't know Coinbase allows it or not. If you cant get a suitable answer, then try to use an alternative to Coinbase.

I would pick the recommended but tedious way any day rather than taking a shortcut but potentially land myself to even more trouble.

Because you've already handed out your personal data to them, coinbase would just detect them if you try to verify your 2nd, 3rd, 4th... accounts using your info, and when that happens, it's not gonna end well.

Even if your purpose is to only send/receive crypto there (which you shouldn't, see: https://notyourkeys.org/) they could still ask you to verify your account and lock your funds until you do so.

I'm hoping you change your mind OP.

I rented a virtual number at sms-man.com and have already registered several Coinbase accounts. It came out cheaper and faster than buying a new SIM card. I'll write back later on quality and result if everything goes well.

Locked accounts are of course recoverable, it's the support that will make it hard for you because it takes weeks. You are not the only user who has this kind of problem, many are complaining already. Submitting documents will solve it but you will need to be on the waitlist. Too bad newbies find the exchange to be the most trusted when they search where to buy coins when there are more if they just look around.

Probably not a great idea to use someone else's phone number. They can reclaim the account back whenever they please and you'd have no proof that they funds are legally under your name (indeed, they are not).

Definitely contact CB support to find out what your options are. Your account *could* be recoverable.

But I suspect that even if your account is not recoverable the better thing to do is simply get a new phone number and create a new account that way. I would strongly suggest that you avoid virtual SMS services as you don't actually own the phone number you use.

Actually, if you created the wallet recently and deposited some Bitcoin you won't be able to withdraw them so I think the wallet lock you talking about is that it asks for a KYC process?

And note creating a new account in Coinbase is not a solution to open a locked wallet or even use a friend's number won't help to unlock your wallet.
Coinbase is now very strict on KYC I have experienced using them a few months ago without KYC but recently they are forcing people to verify the KYC process.

So if your wallet is being blocked because you forgot the number that you registered in your Coinbase account the only solution to solved this issue is by contacting support.

Scroll down at the bottom and you will see that they only suggest you contact them if you forgot your number connected to your Coinbase account.

Can you provide more context OP? What error message did you see? I guess you can't even login to your account?

In any case, you should work on getting back your account because multiple accounts are not allowed. They have the resources to effectively spy on their users and it's only gonna get better over time hence it's not advisable to create an alt account knowing they have full control over your funds in their system + your data.

Get in touch with coinbase and see if you can work something out with them.

The phone number is basically for the SMS factor verification or verification code. I don't think it' possible to create an account minus a phone number. Please make sure you use a personal valid number while creating a coinbase account because at one time when you want to log in, they will send you a verification SMS to confirm before logging in.

I have a coinbase account that I have never been able to log into to this date because I lost my SIM card

Do not buy a coinbase account.

I don't know coinbase will block an account, either they will suspend it temporarily or terminate it permanently depends on the violations against their terms.

Create a support ticket and ask for the reason why your account is blocked and until that don't use coinbase from other numbers it may cause you to lose your funds.

As I know, it's not allowed to have more than one account on Coinbase. Buying or selling a Coinbase account is also forbidden, there you risk blocking the account if they recognize the unauthorized use.
It can't be "re-blocked" or unsuspended using any other phone number, why should be? If it's possible I can easily take your account using my phone no.
However, if you still have access to your email used on registration, you have a chance to get your account back. Of course, if you did not do anything wrong or against their TOS.

You need to understand, your account on any exchange or wallet is only yours. It is completely personal, like a bank account. Sharing access to them always can cause some problems.
