Thanks for your response.

I will find out exact model of ups for you. But i have a question that how come its running fine on UPS on or after switch over after i click "Save configuration" while its on SAME unassumingly 208 volt ? How come it run then?

Let me again point out issue is on SWITCH OVER to and from APC. And while its shifted entirely to APC when i click "Save Configuration" in S9 config it just restart itself and start hashing on the same supposedly 208 volt.

How would you explain that?

The onset surge is too high.   An easy way to see if I am right attach 2 boards and the controller one 1 s-9  the psu will not have an onset surge as big.

an l3 and an a3 both come no where  close to 1400 watts

the s-9  does

but a 2 board s-9 will work if I am right

btw  if I am wrong I have zero clue on what to do for you

and it will work

I am using APC XL heavy duty ups
i am using APW3++ Bitmain official power supply

your answer lacks info.

but this is a ballsy mofo below

https://www.amazon.com/APC-SURT10000XLT-4-Outlet-Hardline-Uninterruptible/dp/B0002MKC2W/ref=sr_1_5?

is this yours?

https://www.schneider-electric.com/en/product/SURT10000XLT_APC/apc-smart-ups-rt-10000va-208v/

it provides 208 volts  and   your psu  at 208 volts  lack enough juice to run the s-9

208/220 x 1600 = 1512 watts  max

maybe

208/240 x 1600 =  1386 watts max

so  if you want  to run s-9's  with a 208 volt ups  you may need this psu

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2450W-Power-Supply-for-bitmain-antminer-T9-S9-L3-S7-200V-240V-PSU-US-SHIP/253365274715?

OK if you switched off the other machines and just ran a single S9 and still had the problem then its probably something to do with the S9 that doesn't like the power switching. Could be all S9's thing is most people probably haven't experienced the problem you are running into as most people don't run miners on UPS' because, well, its hard enough trying to get a return on your investment on the miners alone without having to get it on a EUR 1600 UPS as well Smiley

I still wonder why you are noticing it so much, do you have many power outages in your location?

Yes thats why i have UPS

I am using APC 5 KVA XL, its a European model and i am using it to power 2 S9 and to other miners as explained making a total of 4, this can easily support upto 5000 watts although officially APC claims 4000 watt.

Even otherwise i switched off all machines and tried running single S9 and same issue.

AFAIK APC Smart-UPS XL only comes in 1500VA or 3000VA neither of which would be enough to run the 2 S9's on their own let alone with the other kit on there as well. The APC Smart-UPS XL Modular 3000VA only provides 2500W.

Why is your power switching on the UPS so often?

Could be the UPS isn't providing enough juice for all the miners, you could try:
a) getting a second UPS
b) moving some of the other miners off the UPS temporarily
c) just shut down the L3+ and A3 miners and test the power switching scenario on the UPS with just the S9's connected.
Already tried putting only 1 S9 alone on that giant but still the same issue.

Thanks to all of you for trying to help

1. I tried the steps of reset but makes no difference.
2. Changed cables and not difference.
3. I know i need to arrange cooling but i suspect its not due to cooling.

Let me recap whats the issue.

1. I have few L3+, A3s, and these two S9, all of them are backedup by APC pure sinewave ups.

2. Things work perfectly fine but only issue happens when a electricity changeover to and from APC happens, i observed the miner noise gets down a bit when switchover happens and later the GHs are hashing at ZERO speed, although report says it is just not rebotted and session time is not reset.

3. Point to note is that when i poweroff and poweron the miner and it starts working fine for hours until the POWER SWITCH to and from APC ups happens, otherwise it cause no issue.

4. It is worth mentioning here that all other miners L3+ and A3s are on same APC UPS and they are working without issue on power switch, although in A3 i observed it restarts itself automatically and starts mining on a power switch. But L3s do not show such behaviour.

Now two reasons which i can understand are:-
1. Is it due to cooling? If so then why no issue when power switch does not happen?
2. Is this firmware issue as i see the linux version in S9s are latest

Kernel Version   Linux 3.14.0-xilinx-ge8a2f71-dirty #82 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 16 19:49:53 CST 2017
File System Version   Fri Nov 17 17:37:49 CST 2017
BMminer Version   2.0.0

Where on in A3s it is

Kernel Version   Linux 3.8.13 #22 SMP Tue Dec 2 15:26:11 CST 2014
File System Version   Fri Dec 29 17:12:57 CST 2017

Its getting tricky hopefully some of you experts and put some light over it.

my guess is a connection issue to the pool.

do you use wi fi?

do you have a long eth net wire?

like a 50 ft cat 5 wire?

I hope that you can post the logs of your miner so that we can find what exactly happened with your miner.

Well, you must do software first and do basic ways to troubleshoot first if what exactly the reasons why your miner is not hashing properly.

Read the quoted below and do a hard reset.
It looks like your first hashing board is not running properly and maybe the hashing board gets too hot that leads to thermal protection so that the hashing board stopped.

Could you perform a factory reset?
Follow this method and maybe it can solve your issue.

  • First restart your miner then wait for 2 to 3 minutes
  • After powering on the miner for 3 minutes, press the reset button in your miner for 5 seconds then release
  • The miner will restart its own automatically for 5 minutes
  • Then monitor and check if the issue still persist

You can follow trouble shooting guide from bitmain if ever the issue not solve.
Check here https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/articles/220872007-Possible-problems-for-Antminer-Troubleshooting-for-S7-S9-L3-

I notice that your miners temp is high that exceeds almost 80 degrees this might be the reason why your hashing boards stop suddenly, can you do some cooling solution to decrease the temp of the miner so that the thermal protection couldn't trigger

I got a brand new antminer S9 and it works good but suddenly it stops hashing although the lights remain green and everything looks ok.

See here its showing 0.00 Ghs where in i see green lights at the miner and its connected to internet too.. What could be the reason? share your opinion please.
