Hello,

Yesterday I tried to sell bitcoin for cash. I'll not enter in the details, but the two guys I met were magician.
I verified if the cash was real and it was.
But, I don't know how, theses guys replace the real cash by counterfeit cash in the small handbag they gave to me.
I saw nothing...

And now I lost 10 btc.

I think it's impossible, but I would like to know if there's 1 little possibilities to get my bitcoin back, even if it's illegal because now I have no money.
They didn't use the bitcoin for the moment.

Thank you..

Seriously? Why did you trust them in the first place. Converting bitcoin into fiat can be done online and it is more safer. You can just withdraw it in banks. People nowadays are hard to be trusted, I suggest if you are trading with some persons you didn't know. Try to have a companion since you are transacting large amount of money. Anyways, your'e money is gone, you can report in in the police since you've met them right? That's the only way I think.
That is why i cannot understand converting cryptocurrency to fiat at the streets, not through exchanges and banks system.
When doing it online, the only moment when they scam you, is at cryptocurrency exchange, but there are many legit ones where you can be sure that you will recieve thd money.
As soon as it gets to the banking system, the money wont be lost.

Only reason i made upwhy would anyone exchange it personally, is being anonymous.
If you sell 10 btc at exchange, you will have 12000 $ bank transfer to your account.
That might interest IRS if you dont pay btc taxes, right?

You need to be extremely carefuf when exchanging bitcoins to cash.
Firstly, my advise is to make sure that the person we make the trade with is trusted, and had some successful trades completed.

Secondly, it is very important to not be alone when doing the exchange: in the case of mug attempt, you will be covdred by your partner, plus there is also another point why you should have a reliable friend with you- he might spot the other side trying to replace the money/payment.

I wouldnt even thought about trading 10 btc to fiat at the streets, alone.

I'm sorry, but it's obviously your fault to think of getting paid by hand for selling 10 bitcoin. It's over than 10.000$... What a pitty.

Sorry to hear this mate and 10 btc is already big. They distracted  you to exchange the bag with fake money when you are out of focus on the bag this is just a common bogus if you are careless enough then you have been robbed by those 2 guys.Theres no way you can get your bitcoin back because transactions are irreversible and those coin would be gone forever and the thing you can do now is to report it to police to traced those thieves.

They were 2 people...

One distracted you by talking with you, and the other replaced the cash while you were distracted. It is a very common thievery method. Sadly there is nothing you can do other than reporting to the police. They may check the nearby security cameras but even if they got the dudes your bitcoin are probably gone forever.
Im very sorry about your loss mindrust, I dont even want to imagine myself in such a situation nowadays, 10 bitcoins is a big sum of $ currently.

The biggest problem with getting your bitcoins back, is that even when police find them guilty robbing you, they probably wont find a way to accuse them of having your bitcoins.
If the thieves are smart, then they will cover themselves and police won't have a way to proove they own your bitcoins.

Anyway I really wish you luck in retrieving your money, however that might be a very difficult task.

This is very simple trick if you are dealing in cash with 2 peoples then it is quite possible to do this trick and it is your fault of not being carefull, now only one thing left is go to police station and complain it like what above user have told it. but for that you should have record of how you got this bitcoins if not just forget it because you can be in problem with police of how you got his bitcoin and you have to explain them what is bitcoin. So now it is nothing can be done.
