When I log on this morning, Bittrex asked me for my name, country info and other stuff like I have no intention of giving to them ( passport number is optional though ) in order to re-enable my withdrawal limit to a shitty 3 BTC/Day when I had no limit whatsoever with my Legacy Account, and no KYC bullshit.

You do not have a choice, you're bound to give them your document, unless you want to donate your bitcoin to them. I particularly suggest that you deliver all the documents, respect their rules, even if they may not be good. If you can withdraw your bitcoin, then you choose whether you want to continue using the exchange or not. In some cases people are not able to verify their accounts

I did give them the infos, all of them. And believe me that was the smartest decision of my life.  ( one of them at least ) .

A couple of weeks ago, I realized that Google terminated my Gmail account without any possible appeal ( repeated YouTube copyright infringement ) I believed that sort of thing never happened, so I was mortified and powerless to say the least.

Basically, I was locked out my Bittrex account + 2FA.  Nothing I could do about it, of course Google had bigger fishes to fry, and I don't blame them.

People like to shit on Bittrex customer support ticket system / reactivity, so I guessed I was in for a long trip. I was wrong.

I have to say that they DID make things right, and they were VERY reactive. ( first response within hours ).

I sent all the documents required, selfie + ID, last balance, recent trades, last login IP's etc...  and they unlocked my account within a COUPLE of days.

Thank god I fulfilled their enhanced verification process in the first place, otherwise I do not know how they would have identified me.

Their willingness and quickness to solve my problem -compared to other user's testimonies- might be due to the fact that I have a very old account and a quite hefty balance, but either way : I am pleased and impressed with the way they helped me sort this out.

Hope that helps someone .

What's the risk of giving away such info ?

there are many risks and neither I nor most people like to give their passport and proof of residency to strangers from the internet, but we are obliged to deliver these documents, we have no choice

I have launched a telegram group. I want all those whose account has been disabled to join to this group. and if we needed to file a lawsuit against them we can do it collectively for better results.
everybody is welcome

Is this a joke? If you failed to comply KYC/AML policy - you going to lose 100%.
These policies do not come from exchanges but from governments and usually if you fail to provide requested info considered to be enough to lock an account (by law)

Definitely. You can't release your funds to Bittrex with your unverified account. They are not allowing unverified account to withdraw their funds.
You have to comply to KYC first to be able to release your funds there. In some rare cases, they are disabling accounts and tge users never recover their funds. That's really sucks. Those users are screwed. Back then, i really like Bittrex. But luckily, i was able to pull out my funds there before they screw with their clients.

Yep...

I had some BTC on Cryptopia that I wanted to put in my HW wallet because I dont trust exchanges but their withdrawal fees are somewhat rediculous ATM so I shifted it to Bittrex via an altcoin to save a buck... lo and behold all of a sudden I cant withdraw from Bittrex so I submitted for enhanced verification which failed and needed manual processing...

Here I am over a week later with no response from support wondering if I'm getting GOXed again, all because I wanted to save $10 on fees while trying to do the right thing and keep my coins off the exchanges :/ Cant trust a damn one of them...

The KYC policy at Bittrex is quite recent. I am afraid you need to comply.

I'd like to feed them bullshit but I'm afraid I won't be able to correct it and that they might lock my account and freeze my money at some point.

Yep, I would personally never take such risk. In this world, never leave any chance for anyone to "screw" you, friendly advice.

Yep, they will screw you if they have the chance too. So, If you want to continue to trade with them and get the money that you already have their the only choice you really have is to provide them with this information ASAP.

KYC is a real bitch, but once a company gets 'too big' then they're forced into doing this sort of stuff by the country in which they're located.

So the only way is to comply, or die!

This sucks.

For those of you who didn't know, Bittrex had a "Legacy Account" policy basically exempting older accounts from KYC verification and other privacy crap.

I know they have a policy of closing Legacy accounts to people to borrow them from other users ( supposedly they did that by checking suspicious multiple IP logins ) . However that's not my case.

Anyone else had this problem ? How did you deal with that ? What's the risk of giving away such info ? Is that a good idea to feed them bullshit info ? They're just asking me for basic stuff like country/DOB/ zipcode and so on, I'd like to feed them bullshit but I'm afraid I won't be able to correct it and that they might lock my account and freeze my money at some point.

Please no " muh give them your info" answers,  some people actually value their privacy and do care about giving away sensitive info to foreign countries.  This is not about that.
