I run my rtx-3070's at 90watts, I get 50MH/sec

The card  can handle 250watts, and I would get 55mh/sec, no thanks, I would rather run my card at 60C ( my ambient is 32c), and spend $10/month for electricity for the card, hell right now u only get what $2/day? So $60/mon I paying for $10 electricity, but if your running this card at 180watts, then your near a loss. Last month one RTX-3070 @ 90watts earned me $5/day, now $2, but as we all know ETH is going POS, so its game-over, time to move on
It seems that smth wrong with your arithmetic, or your GPUs. 3070 gives about 60-62 at 130Wt. 3080 uses 250Wt and it will give you about 90-100Mh, depends on model and configure.

Dude if you are in Cali and your power bill is 30 ,40 ,50 cents a kwatt stop mining and sell the gear.

a six gpu rig of 3070 will burn over or about 1 kwatt and hour

that is 720 K-watts a month at

50 cents it is 360
40 cents it is 288
30 cents it is 216

it earns 6 cents and mh or 360 mh x 6 = 21.60 a day or 648

so

648-360 = 288 profit
648-288 = 360 profit
648-216 = 432 profit

if earnings drop from 6 cents an mh to 3 cents
you earn 324 a month before power.

324-360 =  -36
324-288 =   36
324-216 = 108

Dropping to 3 cents an mh may happen

If your electricity bill is growing too high all you have to do is reduce your energy consumption, fell two or three GPU and keep mining with the rest or if you have some money then build a solar energy instead, this is what I use

Major problem is 'over-clocking',  I run my gpus at about 60watts, so my power consumption is minimal, I want the temp of gpus less than 70C so they don't die.

By default the cards are running 150 watts, but that additional power is 10% boost, I would seriously step back and quit wasting your money

Most of the stuff about GPU mining is BS, noobs always focus on 'over-clocking', which kills their cards these days you can't buy new cards, we take care of our cards,

Dropping the power as low as you can right there would save you 75% of your current cost, 50% would be easy.

Learn, just do the 'nvidia-smi -pl N -i M' and where M is the gpu card, and N is the power in watts, and keep dropping until the MH rate goes to zero, then start rising again to find the sweet spot. You will fine that that you can mine at -60% of default power, and still get 90% of the MH rate

Lets see your 18 cards at 150 watts = 2700 watts, where I live that would be $1500/month, I pay $120/mon because I reduce power. I try to run the total under 800Watts

Right now - mining gives profit even with such power bill. But these miners will be first, who will stop mining. The next step is to search for a cheap electricity, or to stop mining. Everyone choose his way by himself.

You are right, if there is more than one important point.
Let's say your switch suddenly breaks down and you don't have a spare. How long will it take to buy new equipment?
If my smart wi-fi socket breaks, then I will turn on the mafning farm without it, and I myself will go to the store and buy a new one.
My mining farms will not be idle.
Therefore, I choose simpler ways. If you have a spare switch, then you too will quickly solve the problem, but you need to buy several switches.

Why are they so cheap?

New they run $300 - $500 I'm sure, maybe even more, as the quality is top notch.  Probably some business/datacenter relocating or something and they just dumped all the current/old stuff to some re-seller.

It's easier for me to use standard Euro sockets and smart Wi-Fi sockets, because they can be bought at any store.

You have a PDU Remote Management you can use on your laptop or PC to monitor all the stats and it's connected via your LAN (WiFi).

If you a buy a PDU you must be sure to buy the model for your electricity circuit for instance 120V/20A or  240V/30A.

I think it's pretty vital to have that so you can be sure to stay under the 80% capacity and also the voltage sag (if your wall socket is 240V and 20A, you have to take 220V multiply by 20A which equals 4400 Watt and you apply 80% on that which is 3520 Watt which you should not go above that to stay safe and avoid voltage sag).

Also with a PDU you know exactly how much you pay per day of electricity which is really important when you mine to know if you are profitable. Here for instance on my PDU Remote Management:



I entered my electricity cost, here in Québec it's 0.07 $ per Kw/h and you see on the column "Interval Cost (Unit)" it's the total cost for the day in CAD for that PDU. So I easily calculate my electricity cost like that. It's good that my electricity comes from a green source (Hydro Québec).
If I was spending $ 500 on useless things, then I would not be able to recoup my equipment soon. I have had stable electricity consumption figures every month in recent years. I don't even look at the electricity meter readings. If you like to control online, then you can purchase an ammeter and a webcam, which will be directed to the ammeter and electricity meter.
All costs will be less than $ 30  Smiley

Also I forgot to mention, the new "Core Clock Lock support for Nvidia" from HiveOS is amazing. For a RTX 3070 it only draw 114 W so it can help you reduce your electricity consumption.

I was thinking mining during a bear market But my mining profit drastically decrease also. Killing two birds n one stone.. oh well I'm a hardcore btc investor. Mine 4 yrs and earn 500k.. lol if history repeats itself.. but with some trading cus eth pow will likely end . And I have to switch to $ergo.. thats when mining is less fun. Cus of shitcoin..
Friend. If I had such electricity prices, I would not even start mining. I know that each state has its own electricity prices, but as soon as the price of Ethereum drops or Ethereum changes the algorithm, then the mass will have a huge sale of video cards.
Other coins will be unprofitable at these electricity prices.

WELL  if those are at the wall kill-a-watt readings they are decent.

If they are software numbers they are a bit high

the 3080 can be set to 225 -230 on software 96-101
the 3070 can be set to 130 on software and do 61
the rx 6800 xt can set to 137 and do 62

Don't you guys typically get rolling black-outs from time to time. This is hardly due to the fact that its very hot there and in the Summer everybody turns on their air conditioner at the same time and there isn't enough load to support all this power. At times it gets really bad and you got these blackouts from what I hear.

From what I understand you guys can't use nuclear power because you have too many earth quakes and its way too risky. I wonder what will happen in a decade when every vehicle there is an electrical car.

I think California and Hawaii are one of the worst places to mine. Usually when there is a massive price corrections its the miners from these locations that have no choice but to power off their rigs.

Currently unless you pay more than $0.60/kwh you are mining at a profit. However it won't that much of a ETH correction or hashrate spike to render mining unprofitable for some. In Europe in certain countries mining is also expensive at like 0.40Euro kwh.

I also dont think you should mine in California especially during the Summertime when there is a shortage of electricity and they turn off peoples power due to shortages.

How much is 1KWt? But i really cannt understand, why it becomes a problem now? You are getting huge profit from mining and dont want to pay electricity bill?
PS. Try to configure your GPUs correct. I think it is possible to downvolt them.

buy some solar panels without battery it will reduce your electric bill alot. it will mix power when outside is sunny.And you in CA so many days are sunny.

It is better to familiarize yourself with electricity prices before mining.
15 of your video cards give 70-120 dollars of profit per day (I don't know exactly how many 3080 you have and how much 3070 you have)
In 5 days you will pay your electricity bill. I hope this is a monthly bill?

You cant mine in California power is very costly.

15 x 3080 if clocked wrong can burn about  4kwatts

15 x 3070 if clocked wrong can burn about 3kwatts.

720 x 4 = 2880 kwatts
720 x 3 = 2160 kwatts.


with really low clocks done well

15 x 3080 = 3.3kwatts
15 x 3070 = 2.1kwatts.

so at the lowes you could be doing 2.1 x 720 = 1510 kwatts in power

at 10 cent it is 151 usd
at 20 cent it is 302 usd
at 30 cent it is 453 usd
at 40 cent is is 604 usd

so my guess is you pay typical cali power rates 30 to 40 cents a kwatt

I am in NJ

in my home I pay 13 cents in the winter and 20 cents in the summer.
