Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
I appreciate your effort honestly...
You've done enough - even much more than what a newbie would do... You see, sometimes I get more startled at the questions newbies be asking everytime....it only keeps me wondering what the understood when they were told to surf the forum for themselves...funny enough, a senior member even had to ask how he could go about getting merits.
There's always a reason why major threads like that are kept for long; it could actually serve as a good reference..... About the VPNs? ion really like the idea of bypassing the proxy ban that way,... getting whitelisted would do no harm.

This forum is too big, I am still going around trying to get familiar with the forum activities, I have some questions to ask, but I am still trying to put them in order because of the standard of the forum.
Knowing everything about this forum is not an easy task,or it's not a day job,it is good to try to reach every nooks and crannies of this forum knowing the things that are necessary. The little period of time I've been in this forum,I have known some things that I never thought I could know in a short time,I will ever remain grateful to this forum for making me know those things.Trading was very difficult for me before I came here, but this forum gave me and indebt knowledge about how to trade, and how to invest. It gives joy to see yourself doing well in crypto.I am not yet done with learning the things I'm supposed to learn in this forum, because learning is an evey day something.

Have always took myself as someone that has done his homework on bitcoin before I came here, oh boy was i wrong certain post I came across like:

Maestro75      : Do you struggle learning Bitcoin?

I blushed when I read my name mentioned as someone who has inspired another person in this forum. I feel honoured that my little self can be mentioned in such way. I hope to get better every day in my contribution to the forum. Check and edit the link for the topic you put as mine because it leads to my profile again like the first one. You have my profile link twice. Here is the right link https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.60346665 which you also mistakenly used for BlackHatCoiner profile.

Thank you for the link. I have checked out the forums rule and the Nigeria forum, but I can't really locate where I can introduce myself.

I do not quite understand why you introduce yourself? You've come to the forum; you don't owe anything else. You must not give your name or any of your details, including your country or place of residence. The fact that you want to communicate in a certain local section does not mean that you need to declare yourself. People will see your presence; what matters is how you show yourself, whether you are really interested in the forum, or whether you appeared here by accident. In addition, I will add another link that can be useful to you for online privacy.

I do not think that the use of VPN is allowed to be used either to register or to log in.

I don't think the forum forbids changing the IP. How do you think people who were previously banned appear here several times? In fact, this problem is very easily solved; using a proxy, such as Socks5, and a VPN will quickly solve the problem with the blacklist. If the forum banned the use of TOR and VPN, then, for some reason, it seems to me that the number of registered users would decrease by three times.

Thank you for the link. I have checked out the forums rule and the Nigeria forum, but I can't really locate where I can introduce myself.
Well, you can use this board or the local board of which country you are in. Beginners & Help would be the best choice since you are a beginner in rank and you can introduce yourself here. Anyways, welcome to Bitcointalk forum. I am glad that there's still some newbies who didn't create a thread asking how to earn merit or whatever it is instead sharing the experience in this forum which means you use your time to learn and also using the search engine in the forum.

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
Read on how to bypass this setback from various thread and found out that it can be solved through whitelisting, paying the charge and through a VPN. I found whitelisting stressful while paying the charge a loss since the exchange I use has a higher minimum transfer than my penalty, so had to pick VPN which worked but after downloading various vpns. the only one that worked for me was the Turbo VPN. I found out that those that recommended VPN ( that I read) didn't specify a VPN so if it's wrong of me to state their names please let me know.

Here's a nice recommendation. Look for online reviews of various VPNs and look for their speed and privacy. It's important for VPN providers not to hold your data so it can't be used later to track you. Also, for me it's important that it works with torrents and not all of them do.

I could be recommended some of this hidden gems to broaden my horizon. it can be based on the author personal opinion on bitcoin and a certain alt coin (opinions which I always find interesting), on economics and also on technical analysis( something simple and informative)

There's a number of good threads, but I don;t know what you're interesting in. Wallets, exchanges, the bitcoin protocol, self custody, the history of bitcoin?
Check out this board:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=6.0
It's full of useful threads, I'm sure you'll be able to find some food for thought there.

Hello everyone am a new member here. Have always took myself as someone that has done his homework on bitcoin before I came here, oh boy was i wrong certain post I came across like:

Maestro75      : Do you struggle learning Bitcoin?

BlackHatCoiner   : Thoughts on Bitcoin's sustainability on the long term

Welcome to bitcointalk forum. The above mentioned members are good posters and you will learn quite a lot following them and reading their posts. There are also other quality posters which you will figure out in time.

Okay thanks for the info. I see the mistake I made was trying to have a presence here quickly rather than understanding the forum. Will have to start reading then and i also passed through the issue of evil point but was lucky to find a phone with an intact IP. nice post by the way
It is always good when you find yourself in a new environment or an online platform to take your time to read up and understand the forum better. A good place to start is the beginners and help section.

the only one that worked for me was the Turbo VPN.
I assume you downloaded the free version? if you did I suggest to either stopping using it and uninstalling it, from what I've read from reviews from the past and the most recent ones, TurboVPN has serious issues with privacy(especially the free version) and has also been flagged to contain malware, here's a link to 2023 review on TurboVPN.

thanks for your time
I hope I can learn better and  contribute quality Post here.
please if reposting an authors thread in my post is wrong do tell me to re edit it. Thanks again.
You started well. Going through the forum is good because you will be able to be abreast with the operations of the forum. It will help you get used to the forum and contribute meaningfully to the forum. It will also assist you to know the rule of the forum so that you will abide by them. Some members violate the rule not intentionally but because they are not aware of the forum laws. My advice is that you keep learning by reading and contributing in areas you feel you can. This forum is like a free institution, keep asking questions and you will get your answers from members of this community.

there are other's that I found exciting but it wasn't easy to navigate through other posts so would be happy if I could be recommended some of this hidden gems to broaden my horizon.

I would also recommend threads that solidifies your foundation when it comes to safekeeping your bitcoins specially if you just started diving into crypto as a lot of malicious people are out there seizing every opportunity they could find from unguarded people.

You'll find a lot of hidden gems here: Good topics on security and privacy. There's also this simple, quick read FAQ that would save you from a lot of scam attemps, see https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/frequently-ask-questionsfaq-answers-about-cryptocurrency-scam-5363505

You could also try to find threads on your own by appending "site:bitcointalk.org" in your web search engine e.g. google, duckduckgo, etc. We do have a built-in search function on the forum but I've always had better results with the mentioned method hence recommend it more.

That's cool, As a newbie myself I can relate to your situation. I've created my account like a week ago where my friends introduced me the forum but sadly I got some evil points, it's my first account in the forum so I don't know why I got evil points. Knowing that I'm innocent I tried to search how could I clean my name to the forum then I found Loyce's whitelisting thread. I emailed all of their emails convincing them that I'm innocent and promised that I'll also contribute to the forum as well. I already have background to the forum since my friends taught me how can I explore and how can I'll learn with loads of information that posted here plus even decades have passed some post are still in here which I found cool!

I experienced the issue of "your IP address having evil points" which i believe some other newbies experienced most especially from my country Nigeria while creating an account. That problem many time get the newbie after registering, I always said that the forum has notice or any pop-up link thread to resolve that before the newbie really pays a bit of satoshi. If the newbie understands that, he can pay 1 satoshi not more than that, but if the newbie only has their own wallet, if an exchange, of course, they can't pay 1 satoshi, because exchange, as I know min 50,000 sat to withdraw.

And surprise you received merit less than an hour which means your post is a bit more quality for other members.

Welcome to the forum.
It's good that you looked at all of these topics from the time you signed up until you decided to publish.  I am sure that you will enjoy the many topics according to your interests and the fields you prefer.  In general, the members you mentioned are among the best publishers on the forum, and I advise you to follow their posts.
I do not think that the use of vpn is allowed to be used either to register or to log in.
I think it is better to follow the forum settings, otherwise it will be useless.  Mods can help you overcome this, and they certainly have a different opinion.

Welcome! You’ve read a lot within a short time and have learnt to use the forum search engine. I advise you also read the forum rules. We have our Nigerian local board which I believe you will find very interesting.

The use of vpn isn’t against the forum rules, it is acceptable here. You can even use TOR to access the forum if you’re big on privacy, your account will not be banned for this.

This is your first post and you did well, you have done the research and you have one contribution already here in Bitcointalk something that is not expected and surprising for newbies with only one post.
I'm sure you will grow to become a good member of this forum, this is why I always recommend to newbies to refrain from posting a lot of reading and just roam around this forum.
There's so much to learn from Bitcoin and from this forum but you have to read and understand before you start participating in the discussions.
