Those power meters are nice to have, I have a Belkin one that I kind of overpaid for but it's always coming in handy.

Looks good to me, I have a similar system (sempron 140, one stick of ram, 2x 5830s) running off of a relatively cheap Antec 550 watt psu and it's doing fine.  I just wish I could find my Kill-A-Watt to test and see how many watts it's using at the socket.

thats the same mobo, cpu, and mem that i have running four Sapphire HD 5830's with slot extenders.

for PSU i have a corsair 750TX, which seems like it maybe a little skimpy but its run without a hiccup for a day and a half so far.

Looks like you didn't overspend on anything unnecessary for the task like a high powered cpu or tons of ram. I have the Sapphire 5830 too and it seems like a good buy.

I like it. Just play with mining won't hurt anyway.

So yeah, I've decided to build a small mining rig (at least small for now since I don't have that much money available) and I was wondering if you could maybe give me some advice or comments on the parts:

SAPPHIRE HD5830 Extreme1x (later 2)€ 91,90
Biostar A870€ 54,90
AMD Sempron 140€ 30,99
SilverStone ST50F-P€ 71,90
Kingston ValueRAM DIMM 2 GB DDR3-10661x€ 19,26
Total€ 271,98

The only thing I'm a bit concerned about is if the PSU with 500W will be enough to support 2x 5830s (though I guess it should be enough). I know one shouldn't skimp on the PSU, but then again, for now I'll have to keep the total costs as low as possible, and it at least has a 80 PLUS Bronze certification.
I will probably buy an USB Flash Drive and run Ubuntu 11.04 on it, but I'm wondering which installation would be better, Ubuntu Server minimal installation and just installing Gnome afterwards or should I just go with the normal Ubuntu Desktop installation?

Thanks in advance for every hints/comments/recommendations.
