Well, welcome to the club, mate! Smiley Let's hope we were both wrong, and all those merits and good wishes were well deserved by OP. But implementing Lightning Network within 24 hours with "4 different persons"? I wish it was true. At this pace we'll be using Lightning Network all over the world in no time! Smiley
Yep, the bolded part is a major red flag. as we all know how rarely Lightning Network is used. I know bunch of people in real life that are into crypto and maybe 2-3 ever bothered to test LN, let alone bough something with it(talking about people that are into crypto for 4-5+ years, now some newbies) ,and now OP sets it up in his store and basically the same day 4 people used it to buy something.

Pure bs if you ask me, but as we can see people are happy to hear anything positive  and not stop to think whether it makes sense or not.

Another interesting thing is his merit history and the only account (so far) he sent merit to, newbieexcro. Check his post history and you will find some similarities like @excro claiming to own small electronics shop, while wnet owns hardware store, both applying to same merit giveaway threads almost one after the other etc.

edit; reading this post again, bitcointalk got me really paranoid. I mean, I am naturally suspicious to everything, but this this forum brought me to a completely new level Cheesy

congrats!! it is very pleasing to hear this kind of developments when it comes to bitcoin or cryptocurrency in general, because as time goes by many people starts to embrace the cryptocurrency culture. when you think of it companies should embrace this kind of culture because it bring convenience to the costumer when they try to buy online and it also lessens the amount of money you bring into a store.

Good luck to you !!

Later in the future I hope your store will continue to use Btc and add some crypto as a means of payment. If you are interested SOL and BSC will be a good alternative, this is not just a suggestion, but I will accept SOL and BSC at my coffee shop which I will open in 2022.

I would like to thank the people who replied to my topic where I asked a few questions regarding the implementation of Bitcoin. Putting that aside, I have successfully implemented "Lighting Network" Bitcoin payments in my hardware store. Already 4 different persons have used Bitcoin as a payment today. I have not only implemented Bitcoin payments in my store but I invested 10 000$ in BTC.

I am fascinated by Bitcoin and I will definitely stay active in this amazing forum.
Its very good thing to see people actually getting some useful information a from the forum and taking them into consideration, and i personally think that you have taken the best decision of your carrier because not only using bitcoin is a great thing and investing in it and using it in your shop will bring you more profit, but the implementation comes at the right place since you are selling hardware i assume that most people will have some idea about bitcoin and  when they see that you are accepting it as a payment they will come to you which means more customers, so i wish good luck.

Congrats on being able to achieve that. As time goes on now a lot of people who make use of Bitcoin we get to know your website. Those that have made purchase on your hardware store making use of Bitcoin will go back and tell their friends who are also making use of Bitcoin to know that there are places that they can purchase such hardware by using Bitcoin. And those friends will also come to your website to purchase the same thing, and as you know it you will be seeing more growth in this area as well. It’s really good that you took this bold step, and even invested in bitcoin. That’s really nice. Congrats once more.

Another store that joined the force. Congrats on making it happen!

Some of the stores I know of that previously accepted bitcoin and other mainstream crypto already scrapped the payment method off of their list as it wasn't configured properly for them. It's a good thing that you found useful advices from this forum and made things happen for your hardware store. And it's great to hear that people are already paying in bitcoin, too!

All the best for your hardware store!

Congrats on setting up a payment system for your hardware store! I love seeing business owners implement bitcoin payment systems.  Every store owner that implements a payment system just puts us one step closer to mass adoption for bitcoin.  I have talked a couple business owners myself in to accepting bitcoin.  Love it, keep up the great work!

I'm glad to hear that, someone who is active in this forum who has a hardware store that can serve customers in buying/selling using Bitcoin, hopefully more customers who buy using Bitcoin, so that people who don't know Bitcoin will know the truth.

If I may suggest, maybe in the future we can also add transaction features with ETH, LTC, etc., who knows there are customers who want to pay using other crypto, congratulations and success for their business.

I don't want to be a party pooper, but whole this story about him owning a hardware store and implementing LN payments in a couple of hours seems like a bullshit to me. On top of that, allegedly people immediately started paying via LN.

Yes. That doesn't even sound right, and it's something that has to be checked. In fact, it doesn't sound like it happened.

Well, that would be very unfortunate if you were right, but I'm afraid that was exactly the case. The guy was last active yesterday here, but he didn't respond to any questions in this thread.

I didn't give him any money or merit, and yet I feel scammed in a way.

Please, OP, prove I was wrong.

That's a great move mate congrats to you, by the way it doesn't matter if you only have 4 costumer that using your new payment method in your hardware store, at least you convince them,  Wink indeed that's how it started and for sure soon all of your costumer will follow the same way as well as it more reliable than other digital payment options. just keep it up and spread the new features of your store so that everyone will be aware..

Usually when you open bitcoin payment in your store, people who already involved in crypto will interested to try it and hope a lot of people will come to your store and use bitcoin as payment. A lot of people maybe hope same things to, include me but unfortunately my government not allow anything beside fiat to  be payment. Even to sell digital product people in here can't use bitcoin as payment.

And your $10k investment is gonna make a good profit soon, though what I'm really curious is your physical store, I'd love to know more details about it, using Bitcoin and Lightning Network as a method of payment can actually attract more customers and also give people a new way to discover Bitcoin or convince people to believe that Bitcoin is real, it may be 2021 but there are still some people that does not believe in Bitcoin.

That's good, for you and the community.
Also, that was exceptionally fast, only took about 5 hours after you've asked the question in 'Beginners and Help' board, about 4 hours after the first reply.

How did you implemented "lightning network" in your store by the way?
Congratulations on getting your customers to use Bitcoin. People love to merit such posts but pictures of the said LN PoS would be great. Because God, that is pretty damn fast. Where is your store located exactly? If you've already found people who are doing LN payments, this means they already have funds on L2 chain. You must be in either a great location or in El Salvador.

Upon reading such posts, I seriously wish that there was a bit less uncertainty in society and from banks when it comes to Bitcoin. As an individual, it is often hard to share Bitcoin information or evangelize about the payment methods because people often don't take it seriously. Most people I've tried talking to IRL, are mostly dismissive of the long term stability. This also shows to me that most people in real life are wary of experimenting or learning something new. They are mostly only comfortable with what they know for certain. This is one of the main reasons that legislative clarity regarding Bitcoin usage is essential.

Well, congratulations on using bitcoin as the additional payment option on your store. I hope your customer will open their mind and accept new payment options. I see that you already have 4 persons who used bitcoin for payment so hopefully, there will be more people who will use bitcoin. It is not easy to decide to use bitcoin as the payment among the other payment method such as credit/debit cards and cash. So I wonder, after you applied bitcoin as payment, do you have more people interested in using bitcoin as payment? But for sure, that can make people who do not know bitcoin will be curious about bitcoin and will ask you.

That's actually a damn good move. 4 people using Bitcoin in your area means that there's actually a community there that uses Bitcoin over there. Have you considered using other payment methods or cryptocurrencies? It might open more options to the users over there for people who don't use Bitcoin.

How is the transaction speed and fee, is that all good ?
It's amazing there are already several people buying your sale with bitcoin on the first day you opened the payment method. I wonder where do you live, must be not somewhere in asia.
And the way you invested 10k into bitcoin is amazing, but i have a recommendation to split your investment into several coins with good fundamental ofcourse just in case to make your investment safer.

I hope a lot of business owner will do the same as you did. People will no longer convert their bitcoin to fiat just to buy something, and that's amazing because you'll be able to save transaction fees. I also found out here in my country that there's one real state company that accepts bitcoin as payment. I wish I have a enough btc to buy a property.

I believe that with the increasing popularity of Bitcoin, more and more business owners will accept Bitcoin payments at their merchants. It's nice
for Bitcoin owners to be able to buy something without having to convert their Bitcoin to fiat first. You are lucky to still find in your country
a real estate company that accepts Bitcoin payments, meaning that your country does not prohibit using Bitcoin as payment. Since not all countries
accept Bitcoin as payment, and I'm one of those people who live in a country that only legalizes Bitcoin as a digital asset. It's quite annoying because
I can't use Bitcoin to buy anything in my country, hopefully my country can legalize Bitcoin as payment in the future.

I am amazed you managed to set up everything in less than 24 hours! Congrats on that!

I invite you to create a topic in which you explain how you did that in details (a guide). Maybe it will help someone else.

Good luck with your business.

this is a testament that one way or another, this forum caters a lot of people from all walks of life. i guess, at that time, you were not thinking that he can execute his plan this early. and good thing, he found this forum because if you really ask sensible matters, a lot of users will help you even if the topic was discussed several times already. there are users that will direct you to the right threads to learn more about your query.
with this very good example from the op, it demonstrates that indeed, if there's a will, there's a way. so for shop owners or merchants, either, they can always integrate crypto if they want to or find more loopholes not to include crypto in their payment system.

Congratulations on your first $100,000 in hardware sales and your $100,000 investment in bitcoin. this investment becomes profitable soon. I truly got inspiration from you. Actually, I also thought about accepting bitcoin for my cosmetic shop. And you know what the best part is? I started my cosmetic business with the income of crypto from bounty and airdrop. This changed my life. Once I was aware of my job, I got a better salary. But now that boy has its own business all because of airdrop and bounty and crypto. Well, my business is now a startup with only 2 weeks left in my business. Very soon I will share all the stories on the forum. And very soon, I also approved BTC as a payment method.

Well done man! It's quite surprising to me the same day you ask the question of how to accept Bitcoin as a payment and you have done it in the same days. I can recall my reply was the first reply on your thread. By the way, congratulations on your achievement. I am saying it's an achievement because it wasn't easy to decide to accept Bitcoin so quickly. It's a kind of organic Bitcoin adaption, more merchants would inspire from you that would help more adaption. Also, it will be easy for buyers at least they can use Bitcoin directly for needs. Keep it up, mate.

You are really fast and have better decisions making power as the other day you were asking about whether to accept Bitcoin or not for your hardware store and now see here comes the good news from your side man and i am always aroused by such fantastic bitcoin adoption news.As you may have thought of setting up LN channel with your customers you can save lot of transaction fees and can buy sell stuff instantly rather than waiting for 1-2 confirmations and no fear of double spend of funds by any customer. But to take it to another level you have put upon $10k into this which shows your support to it as risking your own funds and believe they will be worth much in coming time.Your sales and btc prices are gonna rock Wink

What country are you from? That didn’t need a Legal Tender Law to start adopting/accepting Bitcoin, did it? Cool

That’s what some people in the community have been saying. Don’t force the people to use Bitcoin. The Legal Tender Law is OK, BUT don’t force the people to accept Bitcoin. Let it be used because of its merits.

A really appreciated and wise decision made by you by accepting bitcoin payment on your store and more surprisingly you have already customer who are willing to pay in btc at the same time.Such positive news around the globe and promotion of bitcoin at small levels indicate that mass adoption is on the way and LN have solved the fees issues to possible extent and hope you see more customers paying in bitcoin.Best wishes for setting up decentralised payment method which will help you a lot.Out of just curiousty will you hold your bitcoins or convert them into fiat?

Congratulations wnet! Is your hardware's name is also wnet hardware?  Tongue
That's a surprise that you didn't just accepted bitcoin/lightning network payment but you did really invested 10 grand on it. What a way to start accepting bitcoin payments. I wish you and your store well at all times. And what's next is probably look at your local neighborhood to look for other crypto folks that's near you.

You did the right thing, OP. It's not only today your business will be standing out from others, but later when many stores around you will be accepting Bitcoin too, you will have all the right to have a plaque on your window "We were the first ...", or something like that.

Also, by staying active on this forum, soon you will be able to advertise your store in your signature here.

May your business prosper, mate!

Congratulations @OP.
This way, you can introduce bitcoin to people around you who go to your store and tell them that you have another option to pay and explain more about bitcoin to them.
You can be a pathfinder to bitcoin to become popular in your city and as the owner of the hardware store, you can tell your competitor that you are making a change to the payment system.
Sooner or later, if many people are aware of that, they will try to use bitcoin to pay and you can become have more customers who will buy many products from your store and your competitor will start to follow you.

Welcome to the club mate, that's a huge investment, and I can only dream that I have  the big amount of money to invest on BTC. And hopefully, your hardware store will also be successful, and it's very appealing to hear that 4 of your customers have used btc, that's a head start.

I am fascinated by Bitcoin and I will definitely stay active in this amazing forum.
For sure you will be hooked in this community, so many good topics to read and re-learn everything about bitcoin.

Very encouraging to see, and if I can suggest,,, what crypto people did in Singapore which I experienced personally, they tried to get people to use crypto to pay and offered them good discounts or like double stamps in the loyalty card (for example if not discount) if you paid in crypto,,, and that really worked.

Or even like a free small discount for downloading a wallet?

Good luck and enjoy Bitcoin use. Too few people make use important so I am happy to hear.

Congratulations a whole new level built. It's a plus to the crypto industry and also a boast to your venture. You must have considered the pros and crons before pulling the bull by the horn and took the big risk despite the consistent dip. It would still be nice if you could brief us on how you were able to achieve this so future investors might have a clue on how to adopt bitcoin too as a means of payment

Definitely a win for Bitcoin, your business, and your community. Good on you. How about some pictures of signage or whatever it is you use to accept Bitcoin. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words AMD everybody loves a little Bitcoin porn. Let us know how the popularity goes over time.

Congrats!
This sounds good and there are a few small merchants now adopting Bitcoin as a payment and the good thing is they applied Lightning Network that good for microtransaction for example for a small number of products to purchase.  Aside from that, it's totally safe than using a credit card because there's no charge back, make sure at least there's at least 1 confirmation to be done before your customer let leaving at your counter.

and maybe add a link to bitcoin.org in your "bitcoin accepted" signage/website for those who have no idea what it is and wanna learn more.
I like the idea, it seems you're advertising the forum as well.
Below on your QR code device reader, there's a line saying, "For more info. visit Bitcointalk.org for more details". Wink
This is beneficial for promoting Bitcoin.
Many shops now allow Bitcoin to be used for payment.
There are also many people who noticed the Bitcoin forum and came to the Bitcoin forum to learn,
Everyone in Bitcoin has slowly changed from a novice to an old member.
I have shared this forum with my friends and family. I believe that more and more people will be able to truly understand Bitcoin.

I am curious how you going to "distribute" you Bitcoin income? A lot of merchants make use of Payment processors too, so they convert the Bitcoin back to cash to bypass regulations and laws in their country. (Effectively ...you are accepting Cash and not Bitcoin, when you have transactions processed through Payment processors)

Are you going to keep a portion of the Bitcoin received and hoard it or are you converting all bitcoin received back into fiat? (The merchants that I spoke to, keep about 15% of the profit in Bitcoin to capitalize on the potential that the price might skyrocket in the future and then maximizing their profits)  Wink

Congratulations for successfully integrating Bitcoin into your company’s payment system, indeed this is the right step in the right direction as this will help speed up your transaction time and solving the problem on intermediaries.

I took a similar step some time ago and at this moment it yielding positive results for my company. I no longer have to struggle to balance my account as every transaction is stored on the blockchain; I made a similar thread on this you can look at.

That's good, for you and the community.
Also, that was exceptionally fast, only took about 5 hours after you've asked the question in 'Beginners and Help' board, about 4 hours after the first reply.

How did you implemented "lightning network" in your store by the way?
OP probably has some knowledge or has an employee that helped him with the implementation of LN in his store. I agree that it's a good thing for the community, with a business advertising bitcoin for many to see, I think that you're a big contributing to the increase in adoption rate in bitcoin and crypto as a whole, good job and have a prosperous business OP.

As the saying goes, 'big things started small', so hopefully this will be the case for you.

Accepting Bitcoin will have a lot of pros and cons, but definitely if you are a supporter of it, no matter what comes in the future, you will stick with it. And hopefully if some of your buyers notice he BTC logo, who knows, maybe they will be interested as well, so you are like a bridge and part of the bigger picture in the future.

Not new but it's a rather unique kind of store that's accepting bitcoin, most of the time the stores that are accepting bitcoin are food related or general retail related that's making this kind of adoption so it's a new thing for me.

Congrats on that! Having up to 4 different persons using it already shows that it's something your customers could have always wanted but it took a little longer for them to get. (They must have anticipated it). With such a great start, it's just a matter of time before you start getting more customers who will prefer paying with Bitcoin. Well done! Wishing you more success to your business and investments.

Yeah, I'm really happy to have implemented this now! Other stores and shops in my area only accept boring fiat. Who knows, I might be recognized later when Bitcoin will be accepted everywhere!
