As much as people complain about BFL, it's the only mining equipment I've bought (besides my old gpus) that has ROI'd.

I got my Jalapeno a few weeks ago. I didn't pay for the upgrade but it was a 7.5 GH/s unit not the 5 GH/s one and so that was a surprise. I could sell it now on eBay for $500 to $600. Making almost double my investment. But I won't because I am a miner and I like mining. Seeing the little guy hashing away makes me smile.

I received mine recently. I was one of the suckers who paid an extra $100 and now I find out everyone is getting a 7.5+GHz machine. I'm in Canada so I had to pay an extra $31 in taxes. They don't even bin the chips.
2013-04-25 Ordered 5 GH/s ASIC Miner ("Jalapeno")
2013-06-14 Paid for 2 GH/s upgrade to 5 GH/s ASIC Miner
2013-11-14 Received 7 GH/s ASIC Miner

cgminer is showing it running at about 6.8 GH/s.

I'm stunned: I paid an extra $100 USD for a 2 GH/s upgrade... and people that didn't pay for that are getting it for free?

Apart from that, and the nearly 7 month wait, I'm pleased with the unit.  It's very nicely finished, a good looking little cube.  It's fairly loud, but the noise isn't too bad, perhaps a little improved from the Coding in My Sleep Unboxing review that I saw originally?  However, it still drowns out the KnCMiner Jupiter that it is sitting next too... that Jupiter is one quiet rig!

Makes me appreciate what KnCMiner have accomplished: I ordered my Jupiter 2 months AFTER the Jalapeno, and received the Jupiter 20 days BEFORE the Jalapeno!  Oh, and the Jupiter is 80 times faster.

Yep, I finally received my paperweight last week as well.  It is hashing away at ~7.5Gh, for whatever that is worth.  Roll Eyes

Also, they're operating at almost 8GH/s per unit instead of the advertised 5.5GH/s so that's always nice.

I bought a 5Gh/s pre-order way back in April, and then upgraded it to 7Gh/s.

Then I bought an earlier 5Gh/s pre-order via BFL's marketplace.

The 5Gh/s unit landed up last weekend and was hashing away between 6.5-7.5Gh/s.

I am waiting for the 7Gh/s unit now.

- Either this 7Gh/s is going to hash at 8-10Gh/s; or
- BFL simply gave up on the 5Gh/s and has started shipping out 7Gh/s to all Jalapeno customers. In which case, I am very unhappy about having paid for the upgrade from 5 to 7.

That's better than the 55GH/s I'm getting out of my single which was supposed to do 60.  Good thing it only cost me 208+ BTC.  Made back about 55BTC of that thanks to downtime with a 2 week turnaround on RMA.  Cry

Enjoy the coffee/tea warmer.... it could have been worse.

Ahh those USB coffee warmers? BFL = empty promises. In business trust is key, and they have lost all trust and goodwill from most of the community.

Hi people,

Let me start by saying I am one of those people that got fooled by the "shipping in 2 months" promise, stated on BFL's website during the checkout process. I ordered three jalapenos in early April, needless to say I was rather foolish in thinking they'd arrive on time and make their money back quickly, but they did finally come in the mail. Also, they're operating at almost 8GH/s per unit instead of the advertised 5.5GH/s so that's always nice. My order number is 39686 to anyone trying to gauge the timing on their order.

I don't enjoy being a BFL customer any more than I did before, thus far my experiences with support have been pretty bad, but at least they came and I can say I was only mildly scammed.

When you say mildly scammed, you mean you don't feel bad losing $200 out of the $274 you spent vs. being a MiniRig customer?  Huh
