Yesterday, i tired to put a new GPU R9 290 in my miner that already had 5 GPUs RX470, but the motherboard was not recognizing the R9 290, then I tried to update my drives and it didnt work... So i realise that the problem could be at the PSU becoes it has just 1000W. So i gave up of trying to add the new GPU, but now my miner just recognize 4 of my 5 GPUS RX470, i tried to format my HD but also did not work, by the way i use Windows 10. Help!
First: probably is the  PSU ( try to test 3-4 RX470 + R9 290)
Second: If PSU passes the test, try to run all six GPU with  6gpu_mod app ( search for it on Google)
Third: Change your Graphic driver.

We also need to know the type of motherboard you have. Some have difficulties to recognize 6 GPU-s without a bit of tweaking in the Bios. Some motherboards like ASUS need for you to enable 4G decoding in order to fully recognize up to 8 GPU-s which is the limit in Windows so far.

Have you tried putting your new GPU in another motherboard to  make sure it work. I had an ASUS RX 480 ROG and I thought my motherboard was the problem, but when I put it in another motherboard it gave same result, it was a faulty card.

Also it could be the PSU because the R9 290 consumes about 300-350 watt, and 5 RX 470 consumes about 600 or a bit more watt, plus the motherboard and other parts, it may well go above 1000 watt.

As you see there are a lot of things to check before we can fully identify the problem.

Are you running PCI-Express risers ? Perhaps one of them went bad.

I had a machine do that to me this past week & the riser was failing -- replaced riser & re-installed drivers and it's been fine since.

Okay   so  you erased the hdd and reinstalled windows 10?

As  I have no idea  what I tried  to format my HD means to you

To me it means you fully wiped out the HD and installed windows over again.
