It hit 80F here yesterday and wow.... rig room with just 2300w of power being used was 100F. I am trying something very similar to this thanks to you.

Great!! I have to find a solution in order to cool my mining rig.
I think you should fin a solution to noise and possibility of fire. Safety comes the first!

Did not spend a lot of space?
How does it feel to sleep in that tent, and have you ever slept in it?

I heard it when I saw the video. for me, if I do it may not be able to sleep  Grin
Pretty cool setup. I guess you have to do something like that if you live in a flat with limited space. I didn't take a look a the video, but when I checked the photo, noise was the first association I had. Hopefully no one sleeps in that room.

Fire blankets would reduce chances of burning. Easy enough to line the inside.
I would wish like that and nothing will happen.

As far as noise, probably pretty muffled white noise.

Wow.

still noisy, are you not disturbed while sleeping?

it's a plastic tent I was a little worried about going to burn

That is an interesting solution. Subscribed to see how this pans out.

Could be a good solution for a small space.

Cool but how can you manage the airflow inside the tent?
The inside looks congested with racks.

By the way, here are some of the images from OP's album above, for reference. (imgur sometimes displays an invalid link)

Pretty cool, it can handle temps issue and also save the place. That Tent will not be affected too much by ambient temperature. Are you planned to add another cooling system on that tent? Let's say mini portable AC nor DYI cooling systems using Peltier or something similar?

Interesting, do you sleep in this room?

What is the outside temperature these days?

Hey all,

In order to accommodate the heat issue this summer in my small apartment, I moved all of my rigs and desktop PC into a medium size hydroponics tent. The tent pulls in fresh air from one window and vents it out another window. If there's enough interest I can post an album of the entire setup when I get a chance.

 Hardware Info:

  • Ten RX 580s
  • Six RX 570s
  • Six GTX 1060s
  • Total hashrate: ~590 Mh/s

Tent Info:
  • 3'x3'x6.5' hydroponics tent
  • One 8' diameter inline exhaust fan that vents out my window. It moves A LOT of air, around 800 CFM. This thing will legit turn your fingers into a puff of red mist if you're not careful.
  • Two 6' diameter intake tubes that pull in air from outside.

Safety is important in a small enclosed space:
  • All rigs have a thermal stop limit of 82 degrees C.
  • The exhaust fan and network switch operate on the same breaker, so if it flips and the fan turns off the rigs stop mining.
  • No SATA risers, only PCIe and non-daisychained Molex.
  • WiFi smart outlets so I can cut power remotely if necessary.
