Yes, I've got the same story as yours. I've been used to being mocked by those people that were ignorant in Bitcoin but I just endured it and showed them through results that it's a great thing, an asset and investment that they can truly rely on by being patient.
Those were my old and not-so-close friends but that's fine and I just kept quiet until a few years ago and the bull run came. They have seen the results but I'm not bragging it, they're just seeing that I was way too busy from doing my stuff and things until they've noticed everything that I was doing. I just told them that I've sold everything so that they won't bother me anymore. I know that sometimes it's nice to make them see you're winning but I have come to realized that it's best to just have a peace of mind and quiet place so that no people will bother you anymore and you can do and continue whatever stuff you have been doing.

Last night I met an old friend who I haven't seen in a long time because he worked overseas for 5 years and dived there we never communicated, and before he went overseas we used to hang out together and I still remember him hating bitcoins . mainly because it's not real and that's how he talked me out of getting involved with bitcoin for fear of being scammed, and also he always booed bitcoin when we met.
and at that time i just kept quiet and also nothing changed for me as long as i was involved with bitcoin, and i said look at me a few years later but he has gone overseas. And after a long time we didn't see each other last night he came to my house and I was surprised, and he was also surprised but not because he saw me, but saw my house that had been renovated and also saw several motorbikes and one of them was a big motorbike and I see he hasn't changed.

and he straight up asked me what job or business made my circumstances change so drastically, and all i can say is have you forgotten that you used to make fun of me for being involved with bitcoin and trying to keep it away. And I'm just saying this is proof of the results I got with bitcoin and I still have a lot to tell you about the benefits I got from investing in bitcoin and I was able to make it happen and change my life, including the cost of my marriage and the birth of my child. And in the end he apologized to me and he also heard a lot about bitcoin out there but he still wasn't interested.
and after we talked at length he finally started to get interested after I told my story when investing in bitcoin, and even though I have a salary from my job, but 90% of everything I have including home renovations results from bitcoin profits and he becomes increasingly interested. But I didn't want to teach it until he asked for it many times, and he came back from abroad for 5 years only bringing money which maybe if I want to compare it with the present profit is much bigger.

and he admitted his mistake at that time, but that was also my motivation and I had to prove it and he also felt sorry, because he was not involved with bitcoin at that time and instead mocked him.

Do you have the same story, I mean a close person, relative or friend who used to dislike bitcoin, and they became regretful after seeing a significant change after meeting again.

This has not happened to any of our friends but there are still many people who do not know about Bitcoin and consider investing in it risky. However, it is good that your friend is getting interested in Bitcoin after being inspired by you. The best part is that you have an investment in Bitcoin and the profits are used to renovate your house and meet many other needs. This means that you have made a good investment in Bitcoin and you have a good experience with Bitcoin. Similarly, we should all try to get a good experience about Bitcoin and try to attract others to Bitcoin with our experience. This is only possible if we invest in Bitcoin at a good time and after getting our profit we can tell others that Bitcoin is a great currency for investment. Your story will be great to tell others how good profits can be made in Bitcoin.

This is an inspirational story. It only proves that bitcoin can never be underestimated just because of the false accusations spread online and offline. However, I’m happy that your friend also has decided to see the potentials of bitcoin and eventually decide to invest in it. But make sure that you don’t hold reliability of his own actions. Educate him first and expose him to the different losses in bitcoin investment, then ask him after if he still want to invest or would change his decision right after.
Some just wanted to pass that kind of curse to someone else and people just can't help but blame others for their own mistake since they just do not want to feel guilty over them screwing up. Good thing I had never shared too much information to my colleagues about Bitcoin and I am not willing to just be the leader to teach them since some of them are kinda pain in the ass to teach.

actually many of us has this feeling from the past when we are being told or advised to try investing in crypto (or Bitcoin specifically) but we denied not untill 2017 or 2021 comes that crypto proves its purpose?
because I must admit that I am once felt like this specially in 2017 when i spend all my crypto in gambling and cash out not believing it will increase more than hundreds if not thousand % from the recent growth.
Well I am kinda that 2017-guy in crypto.  Back around teenager days, I thought Bitcoin was just like an illegal currency used by some people around dark web. Turns out it has plenty of widespread use than just it being a "currency".

Since you have been related to this Bitcoin for so long and have good knowledge about Bitcoin. Maybe you didn't have that much idea when you were first introduced to Bitcoin in your life. But now you have been able to analyze and research different aspects of Bitcoin so that you are successful today. Maybe your friend insulted you but he didn't know the positives of Bitcoin and only thought about the negatives. It's admirable that you've changed your life today through the medium of Bitcoin. Of course Bitcoin can change people's lives. We believe that if you invested five years ago, you must have made a good profit. And from that profit your house car is completed which your friend is surprised to see and he is interested to know about Bitcoin. If your foreign friend wants to learn more about Bitcoin from you after seeing this change, you should definitely help. Because he realizes his past mistakes, maybe he wants to know about Bitcoin and invest in you. But I've never had a friend or relative slander me and I've had a lot of people interested in learning as much as I know about Bitcoin.
Your experience has inspired me. It explains why Bitcoin is worth believing in even when it looks like nothing is working in its favour. Before its widespread adoption, many viewed the Internet as a transitory phenomenon. Take stock of the situation, okay?

Your friend, like many others, was too quick to pass judgement and make fun of you. Is it not simple to be frightened by that which you cannot fathom? However, the incredible reality is that Bitcoin has the potential to initiate an economic transformation that is currently happening before our own eyes.

What changed his mind? Fantastic! Instruct him on Bitcoin, but tell him he wont get rich overnight by using it. This is a long-term commitment that necessitates bravery, forethought, and perseverance. The climb may not always be smooth, but the reward is well worth the effort.

i am also happy if your activity in Bitcoin can help your economy so far. somehow i can feel what you feel when belittled by our own friends.
but i think if your friend see your situation has changed drastically in terms of the economy because of your success with the Bitcoin activity that you are doing, is enough to hit him because he underestimated you and your activity in Bitcoin in the past. at least that's enough to prove to people who still don't care, underestimate and think Bitcoin is a fraud.
i think there's nothing wrong with teaching and sharing your knowledge with Bitcoin to your friends. because sharing our knowledge and success is better than keeping it to ourselves.
and one last, i think maybe it's better for you not to hold big grudges against your friend because we don't know what the future holds. in this life we must always share goodness because it could be that one day you really need your friend's help and when that happens there is no guilt or feeling reluctant to help each other between you and your friend's.

It's a very interesting story, but the truth is that it's not easy to make a big profit with bitcoin if you don't invest a lot of money and buy a lot at the bottom, for example in the case of people who put a lot of money when the price was from $10,000 to 15000$ and they were able to sell when the price reached 67000$ they managed to make a lot of profit and with that they could buy things in the real world, but a person who puts little money and buys in the 30,000$ the maximum that he could have in profit could be 2x or 3x and after a long time and obviously the price of things in the real world has gone up a lot and when the time comes for him to sell his coins

he probably won't buy a lot of stuff with the profit he's going to make because the prices in the real world of things have gone up, so it's not like bitcoin works miracles, bitcoin isn't much different from other investments where you make a lot of money who put a lot of money and you know Invest at the right time and sell at the right time. your friend can still invest in bitcoin, but he will need to know the right time and he will have to have a large amount of money if he wants to see a lot of profit, it makes no sense to put 100$ and wait 1 year to have 200$, but it makes sense to put a lot money and wait 1 year to profit 2x

My advice for you is to teach him very well that bitcoin is profitable, but can be risky and if not done wisely, it can less to losses. Tell him that he should not see price decline as something that should cause panic, that he should continue to hold. DCA at a time like this is good. Investing at a time like this is also good. With what is going on, bulls will wake up by 2024/2025. One of the perfect time to invest is now.
On my part, I would never convince him to invest in bitcoin because I know the high risk, he could end up losing all his capital. Instead, I will still advise him to have a stable job, and if he’s deeply interested with bitcoin, then he must prepare for it not just his funds but also his mind and emotions. He should know that bitcoin is not a get-rich quick idea, but if he has the patience and motivation to make it work, then it will always bring life changing profits for him.

am just glad I wasn't a hater for too long because before o got here to the forum I was also a big time hater but its quite normal for me to think otherwise of bitcoin looking at the environment and surrounding am from, I mean where am from is literally filled with scammers and ponzi scheme seem to be the target for their victims and so many people have been scammed countless time so I took a hasty decision to despise anything that has to do with crypto but luckily for me a good friend thought I have a different opinion towards if I was given a proper insight on the technology and he wasnt wrong as I have gained a lot of knowledge about crypto and BTC to be specific since I got to this Wonderful forum.

Yes, I have more or less the same story...

I got into Bitcoin when the price was around $300.... so I saw the potential and I bought some coins. I was so excited about this and told everyone I know about it. A lot of these so-called friends were very skeptical about it, going so far as to call it a Ponzi scheme and a scam.

They also mocked me by giving me the nickname "Mr. Bitcoin" ...and I took it with a smile. Then the Bitcoin price jumped to $1000 and then to $18 000 and then to $40 000... so guess what happened next? Well, most of them ran to "Mr. Bitcoin" for advice on how to buy bitcoins.. and my smile turned into laughter.  Grin Grin Grin
You cannot argue against the results, it was easy to criticize bitcoin early on as this project which had no future, but since bitcoin has been around for longer than a decade and its price has reached such a high level people cannot argue any longer that it was a scam, it never was of course, however people did not care then or even now about the fundamentals of bitcoin, which is why they were so blindsided by its meteoric rise and now they want to be in as well, as they want the same profits for themselves.

When I got involved with Bitcoin, I discussed Bitcoin with friends out of curiosity, but none of them prioritized or even ignored my interest. But if they had listened to me back then and got involved with Bitcoin with me, maybe they could have lived like I do now.

But everyone has their own different thoughts, they often think themselves so wise that they don't care about other people's opinions. So because they don't respect other's opinions, they miss out on many golden opportunities in life which makes them regret after seeing others' success. Now my friends want to know how I got this far, I just advise them to learn more about Bitcoin. And if you have difficulty learning about Bitcoin, come to me and I will provide you the important sources.

Introducing and teaching Bitcoin to others can be difficult sometimes and they can lose trust. Some people can count on quick profits if they are impatient. There are also those who do not consider Bitcoin a reliable asset and do not accept the risks associated with it.

You still have to be true to yourself and communicate bitcoin openly and transparently. A clear interpretation of price action and the time it takes to invest in Bitcoin is important to ensure others understand and have reasonable expectations.

Do you have the same story, I mean a close person, relative or friend who used to dislike bitcoin, and they became regretful after seeing a significant change after meeting again.

This is a common story for the old member of the forum.  Since they are the ones who happen to stumble on the forum earlier and got to know Bitcoin first before their friends know about it, they are the first ones to introduce Bitcoin and cryptocurrency to their friends.  Alas during those time government had label Bitcoin as possible scam and ponzi scheme, many got discourage in participating in the Bitcoin market.  Then later when the government acknowledge Bitcoin as a mode of payment while other governments see it as a commodity, those friends that got discouraged often contact the person who first introduce Bitcoin to them and ask more details about it.

I know that kind of situation because I experience it myself.  But I was not that hyped to explain about BTC to them anymore when they contact me and inquire about it.  I just give them references and told them to visit those link and learn about Bitcoin themselves.

We all have one or two stories like this because we want the best for our closed ones but when we try to introduce them to Bitcoin, they'll be filled with disbelief because they're stuck in the white collar jobs and don't believe anything that doesn't involved manual working.

My love ones don't like investments discussion because of the ugly experience they had as a family trying to do some investment together but  discovered that it was scam companies that didn't have any things they did but just go around promising inventors profits.

Good thing Bitcoin doesn't disappoint and anybody that hasn't invested when they were told about Bitcoin always regrets it in the future. My friend was lucky to get back his senses and invested and he's expecting  to benefit when the next bull market comes after halving.

You're not bragging but narrating the story.
You also did not make any better than your friend. You are both doing great. Enough with the comparison; either you pursue investments or just engage with a profession, it would be fine as long as you are doing okay with it. There's no need to compare whether which one made bigger money and such. It is okay if others won't like what you are doing and you'll kust be affected 'coz it hit your ego but at the end of the dy we xould all have different preferences. If you succeeded with your jorney then that's great but there's really no need to weigh the results of two different paths.

Results speaks volume than you can ever do with words. Some people are good at talking but, you could only talk a handful of persons into gaining interest than the results can produce. It becomes a want what you’ve got or rather, a wish to be at the status you’ve attained but, it’s not always easy.
Results are some of the ways people continues to be fooled by those who run Ponzi schemes up to this day. At first, all Ponzi schemes happens to be productive and once they’ve accumulated enough investors, they shutdown their program.

It’s no surprise your friend is after you now and no longer you after him. He’s seen result of risk taking through bitcoin investments. Teach him right if you could and ensure he doesn’t seek investment packages with scammers.

Well, if you think this story is bullshit and not true, then you are being too negative. I still believe the OP's story, and I don't think it's bragging but a confiding between two friends. Because I always share these with my brother and a few of my closest friends as well. We share everything about family, life, and money, and if given the opportunity, we will work together.

For me, people who are always talking about morality or gossiping on social media about work or wealth, that are called bragging. And when sharing with relatives and friends, it is only for confiding.

I don't think, I'm like 100% sure I'm willing to bet BTC on it.

It's not bragging, if it's not even true.

I'm very positive about true Bitcoin stories and true sharing and experiences. I'm very negative about spreading false information and spam on this forum because actual newbies get misled by the fake stories that you see more and more coming up.

I don't confide except in my very best friend and that's not even everything about my personal life.

In any way, as I said, OP's not coming anytime to prove the story anyway. Believe what you want, but this forum has better quality Bitcoin content than these fake stories!

I don't know if OP's story is true, is that what he's going through? But stories like this are very common and it is nothing new. I think you have never encountered similar things, and this should make you more suspicious. But for me it is completely normal and I have seen many stories similar to the OP's story in my locality. Bitcoin has helped many people become successful, but it is also the doubt of many people and also the regret of many people.

I didn't have the same experience as you, but I'm sure there is someone out there that does. I believe that investing in Bitcoin is a game changer, and that's why it is good to have an investment in Bitcoin.

But at least, you're still friends with him and he apologize to you. If your old friend wants to learn more about Bitcoin, if you're willing to teach him then that would be great. Cause you were able to help someone to get into Bitcoin.

And as for me, I don't really have something similar story to you since when I started to get involved with Bitcoin, people around me saw the things I achieved from it and they never really mocked me for being involved with it. Instead, my family supported me and the other people around me, they also get curious and wanted to learn as well.

And proving to your friend what you have made from your Bitcoin investment is not a good idea because he may think you are trying to mock him, which may lead him to start thinking negatively and try to take bad action against you.

Why don't we think in a more positive way? That's not mocking, what OP meant is that if his friend wants to be like him, then change yourself and take the chance instead of letting it pass again. What I'm seeing is that the OP is more open to his friend and more willing to share the opportunity with him. If he wanted to show off and piss off the other guy, they didn't talk for long, and the OP didn't share his success.
For me, this is not bragging but proof to skeptics and the best advice, nothing more practical than giving them the evidence they need.

I prefer to think in a more negative way. That all these stories are fake and mean nothing, because they're just made up. I mean, are we all really going to sit around believing that in normal life we talk with our friends about investment and showing off how much money we made? Man, I don't even do that in real life with real money.

I hate showing people bitcointalk these days in the Bitcoin discussion because of this nonsense. My friends read all these posts, they'll think I'm one of these guys.

This is not proof to skeptics, this is proof so many posters are bullshitters and not real Bitcoiners.

Do you need to make things more serious? Unless you're a billionaire or super rich, if you only have a few hundred thousand dollars, it's not as bad as you say.
Some people do stupid things like kill others and eventually only get a few bucks from the victims so I am serious with my thinking. When I read those news, I think those criminals even did not thought they will get almost nothing from the victims after killing them. It's no way to reverse if it already happened so prevention is better than cure.

Quote
Sure, people will envy and hate us if we become richer than them, but I don't think people will be evil and trap and steal your money unless you are the bad guy. But I agree with you that we should not flaunt or brag about our assets, whether it is bitcoin or any other asset.
Being killed is something serious but less terrible, you will be target of many curious and greed eyes which can try to steal your money or cryptocurrency. We can not completely careful with all activities we do in offline and online space so if we take more risk, we will have more chance to be victims of someone else.

You should be sure to explain to him clearly that while bitcoin can be profitable, it can also be hazardous and, if not used carefully, can result in losses. Inform him that he should keep holding and not view a price decrease as a reason for panic. DCA during this time is beneficial. This is an excellent moment to invest as well. My close friend formerly hated Bitcoin. She called it "play money," and her scepticism was hard to overcome. We reunited and she saw how Bitcoin changed my life.

Wisdom has taught me to consider her early scepticism as a defence mechanism. Bitcoin, a non-traditional investment, naturally causes anxiety. Resentment is useless. She should learn from her mistakes, not miss out.

Cryptocurrency requires considerable commitment. I never pushed Bitcoin on her, even though I wanted to share my achievement. I'll explain if she asks. Investment is a personal journey shaped by our circumstances and comfort levels. Help your companion make informed judgements assertively yet compassionately.

Do you have the same story, I mean a close person, relative or friend who used to dislike bitcoin, and they became regretful after seeing a significant change after meeting again.
I think that stories like that are incredibly common, because even if bitcoin has gotten a lot of popularity during the last years, if we go back to 2017 or before we will see that there was a lot of awareness, but most of those that found out about bitcoin though the mainstream media were against bitcoin as what they heard about it was extremely negative, and the 2018 crypto winter did not help either, however your friend has nothing to feel remorseful about, as even if he invested in bitcoin I doubt he had what was necessary to keep holding their coins.
2017 was indeed the year that showed that bitcoin experienced its first significant pump, thus making many people invest, even though it was the peak and 2018 experienced a saturation period, so many regretted losing their possessions, but 2021 was proven again with a higher increase. from the previous ATH, and from those who sold losses before feeling sorry to return. people like that only want profit without being able to think far ahead, they are shrouded in worry and don't want to take risks. there are some people around me who are like that, but after 2021, they are a little aware to buy when the market is bearish

Indeed, this opportunity should not be missed. Sometimes, when something groundbreaking happens, it can be very beneficial to get in early. This is why so many people regret missing out on the opportunity to invest in Bitcoin. Once we become believers and participants in cryptocurrencies, we can enjoy the technical and economic benefits that they bring. Constantly learning and updating knowledge. Cryptocurrency technology is constantly evolving, and we need to continue to learn and keep an eye on new trends. The world of cryptocurrency is changing rapidly, and updating our knowledge will help us better understand and realize its full potential.

there are some of them at least 2 of my friends admit that they blame themselves from not believing in what I try to lure them back then , specially in 2016 when both of them are my officemates and tries to ask them to invest with me.
then 2017 comes and they regret the decision and then came 2021 when they still did not invested.
the lesson here is never regret things that you think will give you benefits specially when you have seen this happen first time and denied the second time.

In just five years, you've made so much progress with Bitcoin that it's shocking to everyone. Your friend thought you would be in the same state as your friend left you in the country but he did not think for once that you could improve so much in the meantime. His expectations were not the same for you that's why he directly asked you through which job you have improved so much. This is how people usually change. Some wait for opportunities while others make their own efforts.
I don't know how serious your friend is about this, but if he wants to invest in bitcoin, help him and not only tell him the positive aspects of investing in bitcoin, but tell him everything. You tell him all the things that are likely to happen and then you can help him if he is interested in investing.

None. I don't have anybody that's my relative who used to dislike Bitcoin. Those who already known cryptocurrencies actually liked it even though they lost money into it already.

I don't have a similar story like what you have OP, but I'm ready to show it to other people the results of me investing into cryptocurrency. I mean I might not have as much as what you have OP, but I think I can say that I have enough to share it to others once they will boast me, and will spew bad things about Bitcoin for some reasons.

TBH, I would like to involve my relatives, and share what is cryptocurrency for them, but the problem is not a single one of them aren't involved into investing, or not a single one of them ever think of investing into different assets. What's worse is that there are some who doesn't have any savings account still for their emergency funds that's why I'm not sharing any information with regards to cryptocurrency to them because I find them not interested on it because of their background.

Nevertheless, guide your friend now that he saw the results that you got investing into crypto, and as for me, I would still be happy to share my knowledge if there will be anybody here in our place who will be interested in learning crypto.

Same experience as you that you met again a person got regrets, I don't have any experience with that.
But a person who hates Bitcoin before and for sure regrets it but in silence, like they didn't talk it to me again about Bitcoin.

For me, people who are telling negative things about Bitcoin must first do research and have their basis for why they hate Bitcoin, it's like accusing a person for some crime without evidence.

Believe that not everybody will be interested in bitcoin, despite whatever way you may try to explain it to them, because they always believe that anything online is likely to lead to a scam,so they are unlikely to pay more attention to it and find time to learn and do their own research to find out the truth. So people who easily get convinced by some people's words without finding out the truth themselves hardly have a good opportunity, especially people like your friend.

Many people in the crypto industry nowadays have also seen Bitcoin as a scam once before, but with time they try to understand when they start seeing their close friends or other people making good things out of it. So for your friend to first see Bitcoin as a scam and never believe in it easily, there is nothing bad in it.

And proving to your friend what you have made from your Bitcoin investment is not a good idea because he may think you are trying to mock him, which may lead him to start thinking negatively and try to take bad action against you.

How incredible something similar happened to me today, I have a friend who is not a fan of Bitcoin, this morning when we were on our way to the university I told him about how good it is to invest in Bitcoin. He told me that he would not like to invest in this at all... I asked him why. And I just argue that not too long ago Bitcoin was priced at 60k and now it's oscillating around 30k values that a lot of people must have lost a lot of money and preferred to invest in stocks.

I told him that investing in stocks was a good idea, but that he should consider investing in Bitcoin as a great opportunity to earn a lot of money, I told him to see it as an investment in the future, that Bitcoin had great potential, arguing its benefits... Although you are still reluctant on the subject, you may be able to change your investment outlook later on.

Yes, it happens sometimes. When I first encountered Bitcoin, I was abroad. There were always people discouraging me from getting involved with Bitcoin, even though they didn't fully understand it. They believed that making money online and investing through the internet were things of the past. However, crypto has changed my life in some ways. I have earned a significant amount from providing marketing services, which has been enough to transform my life. I am still actively involved in Bitcoin trading, while those who doubted it are still abroad, and I have settled in my home country.

Well, I don’t have the same story as yours as my friends never really hated bitcoin that much, but they were not interested either. They just don’t want to take risk with bitcoin believing that it may only be a waste of time and money, and in the end it will only turn into scam. So I never convinced them in the first place. However, I still hope  that they’ll be more open to bitcoin one of these days. And maybe by that time, I can gain some significant achievements that will prove to them that bitcoin is legit and will never be directly involved in scams.

Maybe your friend simply isn't interested in bitcoin and there is nothing wrong with that. You didn't have to prove him anything imo. Obviously he couldn't make the same big bucks as you while he was working overseas but some people are just not good at investing at all. You should also know that crypto isn't the only game in town. Some smart people make great returns with forex or/and stocks too. There are people that make a killing from gambling. Your friend couldn't find his "get rich quick" scheme yet. Some people never will and there isn't anything wrong with that. Not everybody can be in the 1% club.

Why don't I start up a business than investing in bitcoin when I don't know its future price tomorrow? I should be hoping on the impossible that bitcoin will give me profits.

That's by the way. Am looking forward to the day my bitcoin investment will turn into a success story like yours so that doubters friends who think Bitcoin is a scam will have a regretful mind that they made a very mistake of not believing in bitcoin. I would like to thanks Satoshi once again for creating this amazing finance system for us because he has done the best job in the world.

OP, I would like to congratulate you on getting stick with your passion of accumulating Bitcoin and gaining profits from your holdings. Your Bitcoin journey inspired your friend and it has the power to inspire many other users. Anyone who invests in Bitcoin and has strong and firm faith in it will end up making a lot of money in the end.

I'm a bit confused that you are showing off the things you bought with bitcoin, like you want to show your friend how wrong he was. Going the "I told you so" route is the easiest way to make your friendship more tense and bitter.

I've never had a similar experience because I don't act like you, OP, but I had some friends message me with regrets about not having invested in bitcoin, or owning bitcoin at some point and selling it cheap.
My close friend bought a computer in 2016 when bitcoin was at its lows.

If it were me, I would do the same as OP, I would show off my friend everything, and what I want is for him to know what he missed, that he was wrong in the first place.  for those who are always doubting, we need to show them the truth, and only when they accept their mistakes will they correct themselves and change.  just like OP's friend, he's not mad at OP, but on the contrary, he's started to believe what OP says and believes in bitcoin.

The part where your friend said it's not real actually interests me the most as I have read couple of people say thesame thing. It's possible they say so because it's intangible money (can't be touched) , they think it's not real money or were brainwashed by contents that claim it's not real. Well, you can't blame them too much. The concept of virtual money/assets would be too advanced for people or primitive minds who are used too physical assets/money, which is part of the reasons I tend to encourage the printing of "bitcoins" on physical objects. It will make alot of sense to them since they can touch and easily exchange them for goods and services. Unfortunately, nerds, tech futurists etc are too obsessed with the digit concept with little consideration for people with less understanding.  Bitcoin is more real and better than fiat currencies but alot of people would take the latter more seriously because they have their physical versions, which Bitcoin is also capable of. Besides, the physical version of Bitcoin is much better because it can be printed by anyone & has a verifiable public Ledger.

I have a question for you my friend, in regards to your expenses, are those motor bikes used for business? How about the renovated house? You see, we need alot of productive bitcoiners who can use what they made from Bitcoin for the benefit of fellow bitcoiners and society. We are building an interdependent Bitcoin Network that is independent of centralized world. When the time comes, you could rent out the bikes or house for bitcoins... Afterall, you bought and renovated them with money from Bitcoin. You could use the bitcoins earned from renting them out to pay another bitcoiner to service them when they need to be serviced, or even buy brand new ones from bitcoiners who can manufacture such. This is how we can sustain ourselves and become self-reliant rather than relying on fiat world or buying lots of bikes for just ourselves to enjoy/use without earning more bitcoins from renting out them to others. Learn from Bitcoin miners... they invest in mining equipments probably with their hard earned bitcoins, to serve the Bitcoin Network & earn more bitcoins. I have read of Bitcoiners who produce miners and probably sell them for bitcoins. Let's learn to live for others especially bitcoiners when we succeed with Bitcoin investments or works. This can help in circulating the coins within the Bitcoin economy rather than just holding them.

People I know who probably dislike Bitcoin would be surprised by the influence I have on it

The funny part is, you can introduce and teach your friend everything about Bitcoin and he or she won't be able to keep up, they might expect things to be smooth with Bitcoin, believe me, those who doubt easily are not so disciplined.

Once they find out that you need to keep nursing your crypto portfolio and it's going to take few years to at least get better profits off your investment they will run and hail you that you are a strange being, it has happened to me not once, most people that end up forcing me to teach them about Bitcojn are not serious about Bitcoin even after I thought them all the need to know.

This days don't be surprised that many people are looking for the easiest way of making money and Bitcoin does not grant wishes in a week or two.

I don't have the proof you have so nobody wants to be like me. Maybe in the future when I have made some money from bitcoin and own a house and a car just like you, many people that feel I am wasting my time investing in Bitcoin will rethink. I want to congratulate you for all you have achieved with bitcoin but a newbie might be misled by this story. These new members might assume that Bitcoin is a get-rich-quick investment. I am sure that some members of the forum have lost money investing in Bitcoin. So I would want you to inform your friend that there are risks in investing in the bitcoin industry so that he will be prepared for the worst.

I would say never to disclose your investments. Whether it's crypto or any sort of investment, it’s better to keep it within yourself. Moreover, if bitcoins or crypto is illegal in your country, then it’s better not to share with anyone regarding your crypto investment. I can understand the OP’s feelings about how he made his friend regret his decision, but to be honest, I won’t show off if I have made any profits from crypto. You did your part, OP, by informing your friend about crypto investments. Now he didn’t follow your advice, so it’s his fault. I hope your friend now understands the value of the coins.
Keeping your investment secret is important if you want to avoid criminals. There is no need to flaunt what you have achieved because even your close friends or relatives can't be trusted. To maintain privacy it is better to keep it on the low at all times because criminals are looking for signs that you have what they want.

So, no merits for the OP?  Grin Bitcointalk, you have changed.

In the end, these stories make me laugh. I have a mixture of tenderness and disbelief. I think a new section should be opened in the forum for personal stories, given the number of people who have stories to tell about how Bitcoin has changed their lives for the better.

Do you have the same story, I mean a close person, relative or friend who used to dislike bitcoin, and they became regretful after seeing a significant change after meeting again.
No, I haven't experienced such a situation.

In the end, it is that Well, it is that in reality, for buying and holding Bitcoin to change your life significantly, you would have to hold it for a long time without selling at the peaks, something that few people endure. If your personal situation only allows you to buy $50 in Bitcoin per month, after 5 years without selling you would have invested $3K and you would have the equivalent of $6K, which is not bad, but it does not change your life. To do so, you would have to hold out much longer or invest more, and if you can invest more, your economy is better and therefore the number to change your life must be proportionally higher as well.

Well, I had my grandmother who always discredited me for dealing with Bitcoin on the internet. She used to say I was just kidding around and that Bitcoin wasn't real money. Unfortunatelly I didn't have enough time to prove her she was wrong and that Bitcoin could have a big impact on adopters' lives, because she passed away on the turning point between the moment I was bulding my holdings to the moment I started gathering profits from BTC to the real world.

Do you have the same story, I mean a close person, relative or friend who used to dislike bitcoin, and they became regretful after seeing a significant change after meeting again.
During the rise of investments that offer huge profits, a friend of mine left Bitcoin and chose to join the investment group.
He sold the car he used as a means of daily life and used it as capital to invest there.
Six months on, he made a profit of almost 3 times the amount of capital [from selling the car] invested in one investment community.

In the following months, he gave me a prospect about the investment he was doing now by indirectly telling me to leave Bitcoin.
In order not to offend him, I said wisely that the path I know here is with Bitcoin and let me live it casually even though I can't buy cars and other equipment like you have so far.

Eventually, he returned to the path I chose to stay on.
Bitcoin doesn't make it easy right away, it doesn't make it profitable in a short period of time, but investing is certain.

No, I haven't experienced such a situation. From your story, I just hope that your friend doesn't have the wrong impression about Bitcoin as a get-rich-quick scheme. Bitcoin represents more than just renovating a house and owning various motorcycles. Bitcoin provides financial and personal freedom from government control and the possibility of not having to work anymore. Your friend might be discouraged if he invests in Bitcoin today expecting immediate riches. Your task is to identify any misconceptions he may now have about Bitcoin due to your success and correct them.

It is good for someone to stand on his ground on whatever he believed in, if it is legit. If you didn't much believe in bitcoin at the initial time, your friend would have succeeded to talk you out of being a bitcoin investor all because of fear of being scammed.

I'm happy you didn't listen to his advice at that time because if you had, you would now be regretting not investing in bitcoin when you heard about her, just like he is now. It would not be a good idea for your friend to start investing in bitcoin because your circumstances have improved than he used to know you.

Your friend seeking to invest in bitcoin because your circumstance has changed to a brighter one, that he once know you before is not a good idea for him to start investing in bitcoin. He's entering the crypto market with the hopes that his situation will significantly change, just like yours has. If his(circumstance) didn't alter as planned, he will begin to have regrets about taking the risk to invest in bitcoin.

I didn't want to teach it until he asked for it many times
Even though, your friend asks several times before you teach him, tell him that he takes patience to be successful in bitcoin investment. Let him not tremble at her price when it is down, he should invest with his extra money and let him not have imaginary expectations.

Yours is a success story because you take the risk, ignored those who mocked you, and decided that Bitcoin is worth investing your money in, there's a lot of resistance and FUD and the complication attached to using Bitcoin are just some of the reasons, we cannot blame these people, much more if these are our relatives, we can still encourage them to invest and adopt Bitcoin.
To make fun of just because they don't fully understand how Bitcoin works and is a money-making machine.
some of the rejections that occurred were indeed due to FUD spreading and saying even Bitcoin was just a coin that would eventually disappear and be worthless.
That may only be a general reason and there are many other reasons that influence beginners to start entering.

I also have the same stories as yours from friends and relatives who ignore me when I tried to encourage them to invest in Bitcoin and I never take it against them just lucky to be in the right mindset about Bitcoin back then but I told them that it's still not too late and since I have set an example already they are now more receptive to accepting Bitcoin.
No need to invite friends and relatives we know, they will offer themselves when we are successful and successful in Bitcoin.
Because it happened to me. I am the type of person who is reluctant to explain let alone invite other people to enter, because I already know what will happen.
I only focus on my own success and when I have succeeded many people will ask and wonder how I made so much money.
They will begin to be interested in learning.

Well this is one of a wrong way to introduce someone about Bitcoin, when your friend is really surprised you've change your life with Bitcoin, he will think Bitcoin will change his life too. But not everyone is a diamond hand, maybe he will invest with all of his money when Bitcoin price is $30K. Let's imagine if Bitcoin price slowly declining to $25K, he will ask why Bitcoin price is declining. When Bitcoin price is keep declining to $20K and he have hold for 6 months, he might say you've scammed him.

You need to be ready, your friend would be active to communicate with you in terms about Bitcoin price.

Investing in bitcoin will not guarantee anyone will get a return and change their life. But if you don't try, you will never have a chance to change your life. I don't see anything wrong with OP trying to share the opportunity with friends because OP has experienced and has good results, so there is no reason for us to hesitate to share with our loved ones. But you are also right just because we are successful doesn't mean they are too. So as long as we tell them everything from return to risk when investing, let them decide for themselves.

OP, it's hard to convince someone of bitcoin if they've never been directly involved in it. Many people underestimate bitcoin and its potential in the long term because they never wanted to go deep into it or want to learn about it, but most of them will regret it after other people get good returns.

Do you have the same story, I mean a close person, relative or friend who used to dislike bitcoin, and they became regretful after seeing a significant change after meeting again.
There are many other people who disdain bitcoin besides your friend, but nowadays their mindset about bitcoin has changed. Even investors in gold and other physical assets have diversified their assets with bitcoins instead of just physical assets, that is because bitcoins can allow them to earn better returns than the potential of their physical assets in the long term.

I don't have the same story, but it had too much going on in the early days of bitcoin. They certainly regretted it, but it would never be of any use if they didn't start studying it and investing in it.

Do you need to make things more serious? Unless you're a billionaire or super rich, if you only have a few hundred thousand dollars, it's not as bad as you say. Sure, people will envy and hate us if we become richer than them, but I don't think people will be evil and trap and steal your money unless you are the bad guy.
Criminal isn't only looking about how much you have, but they're looking for the chance that they can steal your money. If only billionaire or super rich are getting robbed, we will not hear someone lost his wallet, lost his phone etc. Bad or good guy, it's not the thing since money is the number one in capitalism society.

Not yet. To be honest, I'm not talking about that with anyone. My friends and close family know that I have it, but they don't know how much I own and invest. If someone will ask me how to buy it I will be glad to answer, and I hope someday this day will come.
If you're really want any people including stranger asking about Bitcoin related stuff, you can wear a Bitcoin shirt or anything that involved with Bitcoin. There's might be someone who will reach you.

Some will regret their decisions and they will come back, accept them because we can't judge them by saying they are bad for not being supportive, some people are so overprotective when they want the best for their friends, do not blame them, not until they become evil and try to hurt you, decisions making in life is sometimes not a plain sight, it's full of edges and we won't know until we try, imagine you invest in Bitcoin and something bad happened, your friend would probably be saying he told you, that you should have listened.

No one is perfect in decision making, and now that they admit their mistake and want to learn you should welcome them with open arms and teach them, for there might come a time where you will be in the position they are in right now, you might need to learn one or two from them too.

I personally don't want anyone know that I get better financiall by Bitcoin. They will look at me, feel jealous, set up traps for robbery and any kind of accident to steal my bitcoin. I read some stories like that and I don't want I will contribute one more such stories.

Do you have the same story, I mean a close person, relative or friend who used to dislike bitcoin, and they became regretful after seeing a significant change after meeting again.

when it comes to hanging out with friends, I have some who didn't believe in Bitcoin before. In fact they just said Bitcoin wouldn't last another year at that point. We're still on good terms, but I didn't really talk about Bitcoin when we were together. they're not sure about Bitcoin so I don't have to go into what they don't like.
because I have another job, of course when discussing work I never talk about Bitcoin. It's different when I gather with friends or family who like investing. Bitcoin is one of the funniest topics to talk about among the right people.

They always become regretful especially when they see the results because the road they took after they disbelieved in you leads them to nothing but only loss of their precious time. they should consider themselves lucky because, in this crypto world where there are lots of scammers and frauds, they have friends that they can rely on in terms of giving them real information on where they gonna invest their money and time. Others right now are not as lucky as they are because they need to individually check for themselves the right coins and projects to invest they are also using their precious time for their own research about it.

Congratulations OP for your every achievement from Bitcoin. But he shouldn't regret too much by watching your achievements. Because many users are here who entered in Bitcoin and had a strong believe on it but end of the day all didn't achieve success like you. Some got scammed by a custodial wallet or exchange and some faced panic situation and sold in big loss. So it is not like that your friend will also achieve like you but I appreciate you because you have faced many situation and have passed many uphill. And I believe you are a good decision maker.

It's still not too late and your friend should take some effective decisions soon. So your duty will be take caring about him so that he can make better decisions like you or may not fall in a trap or something like a beginner does.

From your story I could deduce three things; commitment, passion and perseverance which were in display by you. I commend you for that mate and I am happy your efforts yielded positive results because you believed in it and you never gave up but what made me more happy is the fact that your story changed and your friend could see it and was surprised at the speed you upgraded all thanks to bitcoin the stand you took and he also apologized for mocking you at your early days as a bitcoin enthusiast.
It paid off mate and here you are enjoying the fruit of your commitment. I know your turn around is a testimony to others who doubted the process and I also believe as a result of what they have seen in yiur life, they would also key in to bitcoin movement themselves without you talking too much to convince them. This story is worth sharing so as to motivate and encourage others who have long been on the spot waiting and almost losing hope to not give up as there is always a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

Congratulations!

From your story, first of all I congratulete for all achievements which make your life better from your investment in Bitcoin.

About your friend, he belongs a type of stubborn people who hardly change their minds. You tried many times and failed to convince him. You gave up one time 5 years ago and should do it again now.

Do you have the same story, I mean a close person, relative or friend who used to dislike bitcoin, and they became regretful after seeing a significant change after meeting again.

First, good fo you for sticking to bitcoin, just like the rest of us.

Second, I don't have any stories like yours, but I guess everyone can relate to it. Maybe there could be some members here who has the same stories or at least people around him didn't believed in bitcoin and so they make fun of us.

But in the long run, it's all worth it. I mean since 2017 since I join this community, at least as I was to give my family a good life, food everyday in the day because of bitcoin and other crypto investments.

I'd see that many people are in regret not believing in Bitcoin before and thinking it was a scam. But now, they're into becoming huge crypto investors and fully adapted to it - see, many people had changed their mind and views when seeing other people shows significant changes after investing in Bitcoin. It is sad to say but this kind of approach really exists and is mostly embraced. That is why if we heard our friends encourage us not to invest in crypto, we just find it out these days that they are posting on social about their great achievements because of investing in Bitcoin.

That would be a hard slap on him, for sure, but again, we learn valuable lessons from it. On my end, I don't have those kinds of people around me. I mean, they are really interested in Bitcoin, and like before, I've told them that I've earned this kind of amount, which they also see as a good investment. Though most of my friends have doubts about it, like, if they invest, is it sure that they'll get it back or earn profit?, like that, they really know what Bitcoin really is. For sure, your friend has somewhat heard about bitcoin in the news, as we know that they are saying that Bitcoin was used in the black market, which is why he thinks so.

and he straight up asked me what job or business made my circumstances change so drastically

Count yourself lucky to have been exposed earlier to the needed aspect of cryptocurrency and for choosing bitcoin first and for having the knowledge required to make an investment with a digital currency like bitcoin, many have done same thing you did but end up miserable with it.

and all i can say is have you forgotten that you used to make fun of me for being involved with bitcoin and trying to keep it away.

I believe there are still many others like that whose biting off their fingers will be their end result because they are mocking those investing and taking the risk today, but the end justifies the means, people like that will always sit and attack while those they are attacking were making investment.

and he admitted his mistake at that time, but that was also my motivation and I had to prove it and he also felt sorry, because he was not involved with bitcoin at that time and instead mocked him.

There are many today who mocks bitcoin investors but tomorrow will turn out to have their decision changed and adopt bitcoin, invested beyond we could thought and so on, bitcoin investment is never too late, people can still invest today because there's more future to discover with bitcoin from now henceforth.

Kind of, but I am still waiting to the point that they would be somehow "open-minded' about what they said about Bitcoin since they were really hating on it as something of a scam, while in fact it is not. They think that Bitcoin is purely a "scheme" like a "project" like those ICOs you can see around crypto space.

Kinda disappointed that there are still close-minded people these days, smh.

Yes, I am also very hesitant to tell this problem. But this is a different and contradictory story because I don't want to teach it, and one that impresses me because this just happened last night.
and also the way I can prove it for real with what he saw with his own eyes and that's proof that doesn't need to say much, and I'm also the type of person who doesn't want to say much because real evidence can amaze people and I just want to prove to him, that bitcoin is not what he said it was then. Just be careful in teaching too much as people tend to blame it all on the teacher that they failed to teach them how to manage losses.

Believe it or not, all he sees from your current condition is the result, not the process that you have been living for a long time. Then his eyes fall on the change or quantitative value you show. So, let's go back to when you still found Bitcoin quite cheap a few years ago. Right now, your friends are getting interested and trying to invest, but will the results be the same? certainly not. Because the current opportunity is different from the moment when you used to start from scratch.

Not a few people I used to meet are now also interested because they see what I have achieved, but that way I can emphasize to them that the type of investment may be the same but the momentum will not come twice. We are in an increased adoption phase.

Yes, I'm going through what you went through. It's even my real brother, not my friends or any outsiders. He was always booing and criticizing me in 2017-2018 when I invested in bitcoin and lost most of my fortune. He always tells me to stay away from scams like bitcoin if I don't want to lose everything. But after the bull season of 2021, I recovered all my losses from 2018, and not stopping there, I made a significant profit.
Now I am teaching him little by little everything about the market.

But after all, I have learned that it is useless to give advice to others if you do not have any proof. As long as you have proof, you don't need to explain or talk too much to them, what others need is results, not just clichés.

You need to be ready, your friend would be active to communicate with you in terms about Bitcoin price.

it is a common thing nowadays that we encountered people that having their regret and sadness from what they missed in crypto investing like what some of my friends and family also .
even my Youngest brother has this feeling back in 2021 but now he starts putting his willing to risk money for the time he misses the opportunity .
Now I am better off with no friend, it's very hard for me to trust anyone, my blood brother is now my best friend.
no not that mate but better to be choosy , better to have few than plenty instead .

it is good to have a blood brother but there are also a good non blood people but we need to dig them deeper .

Every day, another story appears on this forum about bitcoin, old friends, relatives and of course, about the successful and timely investment in btc, which led to untold wealth, while friends, relatives and others missed their amazing opportunity to enrich themselves by btc. Smiley

Your friend was a bitcoin hater, but now, having seen the living embodiment of the opportunities you realized, in the form of a house, motorcycles and a stable financial state, he changed his vision. There is nothing surprising in this, because all doubts are dispelled when we see the results of successful investments from our friends and relatives. This is what opens your eyes and comes the realization that btc is really a unique thing that allows you to change your life. This is what works to convince the people around you, and not when the poor man screams that he will make you rich, but at the same time, he himself has nothing and can't show. In terms of material wealth. Words are not convincing, but facts and visual demonstration are a powerful tool to change views about bitcoin.

There is always someone in everyone's story that tried to talk them out of Bitcoin, some set of people were so sure that Bitcoin would fail and you could see the confidence in them, but if you believe them and act on it, that's your problem.

I do have someone like this too, well educated and I am not, that's the difference,  and that's where he had the nerve to try and stop me from investing in Bitcoin, later I heard he said I won't make it because I don't further my education, all I knew was Bitcoin and as time goes on, things changed, the country gets harder and he was not getting paid enough, I get so successful that It got so hard to pretend that I am not.

This was how my friend turned enemy, because he is not just trying to safe me from getting scammed with Bitcoin, but he never believe that I can become anything because I am not well educated.

Now I am better off with no friend, it's very hard for me to trust anyone, my blood brother is now my best friend.

The story is not similar to mine. But it is similar to my college teacher. My college teacher invested in Bitcoin around March 2020. My teacher's elder brother did not agree with the investment.  At that time, the exchange rate of Bitcoin was 5 thousand 304.15 decimal dollars.  Then, in November 2021, its price rose to a maximum of $69,000.
As a result my teacher earns a lot of money from Bitcoin.  Seeing my teacher's success, his elder brother became interested in investing in Bitcoin.
Even I started investing in Bitcoin with the support of my teacher. And will keep investing for a long time.

A few days ago, Standard Chartered Bank's foreign currency analyst, Jeff Kendrick, said that the price of Bitcoin may increase by 20 percent to 120,000 dollars.

At least at the very end your friend said sorry for mocking you, never judge someone's hustle especially if you don't have any idea on that industry. It's actually good to work abroad if you think you will have a good salary, but working is not enough if you don't have any investment. For sure, you wouldn't last long working whole your life so you need to have investment as much as possible for you to have a secured future.

In my case, is to my friend, this part is about NFT since I've also tried investing or minting for a quick flip. I told them the basic knowledge on how you could profit by finding a good project but he kept disagreeing that is not good investment. Which is in my case I'm just having a quick flip here of course I am still hodling. I show him how my $100 turns into $500-$1000 by just clicking. Yeah he was hooked that time but when he's gonna try it, NFT is not a thing already.

I'm happy for you, op, that you've managed to profit enough from Bitcoin to change your financial circumstances significantly. That not only requires believing in Bitcoin, but also patience not to engage in panic selling.
It's also not common to hear people admit that they were wrong and apologize for making fun of one's decisions.
I think that in my life people who were against Bitcoin are still against it, but some shifted from being against it to being neutral because they can see that I'm doing okay overall (and they expected me to lose a lot because they thought Bitcoin was a scam). But I haven't done anything impressive yet, anything that would make people change their mind. And also, I don't really care about proving anyone wrong. I'm more focused on my life and my beliefs.
