It shouldn't be thought of as a test, although I think something like it being implemented that was completely optional might be cool. There was a discussion about it in another thread, and I basically said I think that if it was implemented in such a way that a leaderboard was included, but the actual statistics didn't effect anything, but that leaderboard, we could potentially offer users to optionally answer the questions in an attempt to compete against each other, while also offering educational value.

I get that we aren't a school, but theymos has indicated that he would like to do Bitcoin courses, and while this isn't exactly that, I think its a rather small change, that could have a wider impact on users here. If we had Bitcoin questions, forum questions, and a way of determining score level I think it would be used by certain types of users.

This could potentially decrease the amount of questions users have in the long run on the forum, that could probably been seen as a negative, and positive. Although, I do definitely see one negative in which users would likely fill up Meta with questions about it, which considering it would be more of a side gimmick would probably get annoying quickly.

Plus, I suspect that if we did implement it in this way, only a handful of users would actually use it. It isn't going to help spammers, and it might discourage actual discussion in the long run. Although, despite that it would be pretty cool if we could mitigate most of these issues brought up, and have it on the side. Not a IQ test though, but just a score of how many questions you've got correct etc.

BTC, a coin of today and tomorrow.
Op, many things has already been implemented in the forum, adding more things will make the place look messy.
Just like the IQ joke, it was not looking fine and it kept offending me whenever it popped up. For instance the red coloration was too armature and I was wishing the April 1st could end faster than normal so that I will not get to see the IQ test again.

bitcoin isn't like any educational institution

But it's kind of like an IQ test, isn't it... you either pass the test and enjoy financial freedom, or become a disgruntled nocoiner.

As for Bitcointalk - the name change to shitpostbotfarm can't come soon enough.

Just a quick question, wouldn't it be better if we have some kind of implementation where it teaches newbies the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies? For example, instead of having random trivia questions, would it be beneficial if we have some kind of questions relating to cryptocurrencies and a hyperlink directing it to a discussion of a thread created in the forum?

I somehow think that this kind of implementation goes with the spirit of this forum- where we teach and inform everyone about its history and other related discussion. I hope theymos considers the potential of having those questions and its impact as a whole in the long-run for both new and old users.

Bitcointalk isn't a school where you get exam questions. It's more like a university, where you're free to do almost anything you please, and it's entirely up to you whether or not you follow classes and learn something.
I'd go even further and say that bitcoin isn't like any educational institution--or an institution of any kind.  Idiots, geniuses, scammers, criminals, and fine upstanding citizens are all welcome to participate.  And so far in bitcoin's relatively short lifespan, that's precisely all the types of people it's attracted (and more).

I'm a little PO'ed that my IQ was measured at something like 126.  Those questions were heavily biased toward pop culture and other things I generally don't pay attention to.  Oh, Theymos you're a tempest in a teapot and we're all minnows bumping around in the ocean below.  If I offended you on 4/1/22, my apologies.  But really, I'm a lot smarter than your little IQ test indicated.  Just sayin', now.

OP, don't take this IQ test too seriously cause it was just made for an april fools joke by theymos. You can't expect admin to implement it year round due to the fact that this forum is a place for discussion, not for answering questions every time you want to post. So what's the point of your proposal?

You will surely realize that every newbie will understand how to make quality posts if they want to get merit and rank. Without an IQ test, I think there are dozens of newbie who have become Legendary by now since the merit system was introduced.

It's a seasonal implementation that isn't made to be taken seriously. Not to mention that it's totally flawed if taken seriously — after a lot of failures from the spammers(remember, accounts are mostly free), a questions & answers list would be leaked and the "IQ test" would immediately be rendered useless.

I suppose we all know now, even you, that it was an April fool's joke pulled on the forum by Theymos and most youngsters were fulled.

Now, for what is what, the IQ test could be questioned for certain flaws and that counts towards reasons why, it won't have been the best practice to this measure and I would give you reasons to its flaws.
1. Every test system has a time frame and the IQ test system came with none execept, a user posts in an intended thread before your submission was to come in.
2. The questions could be rolled over for a new one should you find it difficult to attempt, just a simple refresh or back and forth and it's changed.
3. Users have got Google to aid them all the way. Simply copy and search the question on Google search engine and suggestions would come pouring down in minutes.

If a user is so much concerned about knowledge of the forum precisely, aside from getting them off personal interaction with the forum itself, TheBitcointalkShow would be a good place to look.

I still think it should be implemented and assigned to mostly newbies and j-members like me, but should be strictly Bitcoin related questions, we have got a whole lotta brain's innit the community, their quality post can be transformed for newbies and j member's to answer.
This is a forum buddy. There are no need to make it complicated.

I did have a quick scan at the hall of Fame list and saw my username, although I was pleased/ delighted to be their despite being nervous immediately I saw it by 2:00AM.

This will help "curb the rampant shit posting" Referring to a statement said by The Pharmacist. Not just that, as it'll help inculcate a lot into user's from scratch, but failing to get a high score shouldn't lead to ban.

This are my honest opinions, Thanks xx
