Make sure you didn't accidentally lock it yourself - check whether there's an "unlock topic" link on the bottom left side of the page.

Seems not, altought I am on mobile. That would make me feel uncomfortable, but I feel even more uncomfortable with the fact that someone locked my thread and I am not able to have any response from admins since months.

Can you please help me to get in contact with Cyrus or Theymos?
Your acount might have been hacked try to change your password and email ad to secure your account.

Anyway, it could also be that the administrator or moderator might have accidentally lock your thread. Only them and you yourself could do it in locking the thread you made but if someone does then your account is being hacked already with someone.

Seems like somebody just locked my thread where I ask for help to recover my hacked account:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/my-2013-legendary-account-was-hacked-help-me-to-find-how-and-to-recover-it-3652698

The thread is still in this page and this happened just after Lauda checked in, but I don't think it was him (just sent a PM anyway).

I was hacked months ago, I submitted fool proof according to the rules but after an initial contact nothing happened, and I still regularly PM Cyrus and theymos without being spammy.
I ask for help from the community to have some attention from Theymos or Cyrus to recover it, posting without my "skin" feels very uncomfortable.

I was here since 2013 and I have still a long story to come in the btc ecosystem, so I won't give up. I built my miner here and buyed saffron, and helped people. No fishy story at all behind my account ever, only positive trust.

Please help me to recover my account. And unlock my thread, and also it would be nice if who locked it tells me why he did so.
From my experience, only you or the moderator(s) of that section have the ability to lock or move a thread, except there is a manipulation somewhere. So, check with the moderators of that board you posted from.

It would be great if someone could find some reference about the promise of a new automatic account recover system, I heard about it by other users but I can't find anything...

I do not agree. Anyone could be hacked. Are you saying that if you get hacked it is always your own fault?
It may not be your fault, but it's still your responsibility.

Quote
There is probably just a huge back log.
Barely any accounts get recovered. As far as I know, theymos is working on a more automated recovery procedure. The last thing I read about it is that it's expected around the end of this year (I'm too busy to find the sources of this information now).

Quote
However in my personal opinion legends and especially legends that have donated should be at the front of that queue.  I'm a personal believer of the more you put in the more you should be rewarded kinda guy.
I keep saying "as far as I know", but again: as far as I know, account recoveries are prioritized if theymos recognizes the username.

You're damn right this forum is a real mess, and this is only a part of it.
Sarcasm reply, LOL

Complain about hack account has a slight chance that this will be entertained by the admin. In the first place they should not be liable of the hacked accounts because it is our responsibility to secure our account. Bitcointalk accounts should be secure especially if you are investing in bitcoin or other cryptocurrencybecause this is the only forum that has created Satoshi for a good crypto discussion to learn more about cryptocurrency. If I only own that legendary account for sure it will be safer in my hands.

I do not agree. Anyone could be hacked. Are you saying that if you get hacked it is always your own fault?

Also a legend account that old and also I thought I saw mentioned a person that has donated not only a lot of time but also financially.

If you can prove the hacked account was yours before it got hacked then of course you should get it back eventually.

I am sure actually that this person will get his account back in the end it will just take some time.

There is probably just a huge back log.  However in my personal opinion legends and especially legends that have donated should be at the front of that queue.  I'm a personal believer of the more you put in the more you should be rewarded kinda guy.

I expect a 2 step verification via email could stop a lot of these problems.

Deleting his thread must be a mistake, I can't think anyone would not empathise with getting his legend account back

Thank you for your support.

Regarding the expected criticism for having been hacked, I still do not know how it happened (see original thread), but I feel that my opsec is above average, and I was never hacked in 5 years in this harsh enviroment. That was probably my fault, but this is human nature, and given the environment in an infinite time you are all going to be hacked (or die).

Also, I feel that when something is bad (like is this forum) people should try to change things.
I remember when there was a thing called internet communities where people collaborated to try to make things better, made p2p projects for idealism etc..

Now the crypto ecosystem is for the most part composed by fedora-hats, general assholes and scammers, and this is sad.

Regarding this forum, I only think that we the users should be able to communicate with admins, at least to ask some very simple things like an automatic (or only faster or more efficient) way to recover accounts, or to propose other ways to make the forum better.

Regarding my account, can someone help me? Do someone have some idea?

Ps: just to be cosa è, i was not a donor

I'm ok with the support being scarce because I understand that this forum is a real mess, but I can't stand that you seems to consider such a behaviour "normal".
It's totally "normal" even though I don't think that such treatment is right.  Vod's response was a little bit harsh, but this has been the fate of everyone I've seen trying to recover their hacked accounts (not the thread-locking but the ignoring part).  Vod has even volunteered to help with account restoration if I'm not mistaken, but his offer was met with silence.

You're damn right this forum is a real mess, and this is only a part of it.

Ok, this is statistically normal, like being raped in South Africa, but still not acceptable.
We old users know the story, how this place become an advertising window focused on economic interests, many of us remain here only because we have an emotional bond with this place, at least for me it is so.
But I feel bad writing without my account and my story, so the only reason because I come back here nowdays is to try to recover my account. I know it will be difficult, but this is my main and almost my only actual goal in bitcoinland. Also, because for the dynamics of this place, I find not impossible to give to an old user who is putting a lot of effort a special treatment.

Maybe I can get a dozen of legends or so to PM at the same time to admins, do you think this would get some visibility?
Any other ideas?

How can i see which moderator closed my thread?

I believe the identity of moderators when acting (deleting, banning, locking and thrashing) are kept unknown to protect then from retaliatory feedback and backlash.

They work as a body, and according to the rules and guidelines. That means what one can do another probably will.
The questions should be, Why the moderator locked the thread?

Hey @OP, did you try unlocking your thread? If try unlocking the thread then there will be a message that the thread is locked by moderator so there's nothing you can do to unlock it unless you ask the mod who lock your thread.

Posting hacked account topic is worthless lately until no any announcement from admin. Since you have locked your account then I think it could be unlock by moderator. Seems your signature also verified. I am not sure why mod locked your topic. If you are unable to unlock that means your thread is lock by mod. Better you post a new topic instead of complain.

I think admin will consider to recover hacked account which have appropriate evidence. As far as I know he is thinking something to speed up recover hacked account.

How do you know that? I really hope that something like that will really come, but it's hard to belive giving the history of this forum...

The backlog and speed of response to hacked or lost accounts is an issue that I feel should be addressed.
And I also feel theymos would be looking into (if he isn't already) a way to solve it, as there are regular threads of users who have lost access to their accounts.

For now all you can do is keep waiting on a rely and regularly but not to spam remind them through pm or bumping this post.
As for your locked thread, it could have been an error made by an admin since you say you did not lock it yourself.
Good luck.

Why not DT member painted the account. It has positive trust and can easily scam people. Please someone take a look and paint it. I have given negative feedback but it creates close to 0 caution.

The account is locked, I locked it just after the hack

This is not a good policy. At least, they should say they can't/won't help me for reasons, especially since I followed the rules and even had a first contact

Maybe it's not an ideal policy, but this is not a hotel where every wish is granted to keep you happy...

It's probably 10x faster for them to simply delete your email then it is to reply with "no".

The absence of a reply should be the same as a rejection.  If you were not aware of this - you are now.  Smiley

You gave negative trust for a lot less.
This forum have rules, and also a staking thread that is used instead of 2fa. We also paid a shitton of money for a new forum, which never came.

I'm ok with the support being scarce because I understand that this forum is a real mess, but I can't stand that you seems to consider such a behaviour "normal". I'm waiting and struggling since May, a simple response is pure humanity. Also, I did never spam and I've also been polite in every communication, and that should be a plus.

Just think how you would feel posting as "realvod" and not having any response from admins, after years spent on this forum building reputation.

And this could happen to everybody. I was never hacked in 5 years in bitcoinland, but I did never change the password after the big hack some years ago because they were salted, and I think that's my fault (but maybe I was a phishing victim).

If they have not replied to you, they are not going to help you no matter what you say.

Start a new thread, and link to the old one in the first post.  Smiley

This is not a good policy. At least, they should say they can't/won't help me for reasons, especially since I followed the rules and even had a first contact: cyrus asked if i still own the original email and i answerd yes and then silence. For months. This is not nice and should not be considered normal, even in this harsh environment.

I could start spamming but I don't think it would be a solution, the only thing I can think of is to ask a moderator to mediate for me, besides that I can think only things like hiring a lawyer or a blackhat, but I am not (still) so rich
