There's another old thread I found in Bitcoin Discussion, with other posts that references other threads. In this case, it appears funds were eventually recovered, so there's quite a bit of documentation from there... including a response from Garzik about Mt Gox being a safe place to store Bitcoin (heh). Your chances look grim, but good luck.

Search exclusively in the "Scam Accusation" board, you might find some investigations regarding MyBitcoin there.
Like this one: Mybitcoin is a scam!, July 2011.

Also, this should be moved to "Service Discussion". Moved

Talk about blasts from the past. Happened way before my time. But apparently, the domain seems to be an originator of scam spams: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/new-scam-from-mybitcoincom-2101781 mayhaps the links and other data could help point you in different directions (or not).

Maybe you might get more help posting this in Web Wallets section, see if some old hand there can recall anything.

Thank you for the additional pointers. I've checked all the information available on bitcointalk forums or otherwise via Google extensively. I'll keep the thread open and I'll monitor it for some time.

what kind of wallet you have used to store you bitcoins and how much bitcoins have been hacked?

As far as I know it is impossible to hack the bitcoin from blockchain network so it might be possible only breaching your wallet by some methods like stealing your private keys or phishing if other kind of wallets.

Oh, to explain a bit further - I have not been affected by the hack, but I'm curious about a few things that happened back there. I'm referring to MyBitcoin (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/MyBitcoin) - the online Bitcoin wallet. I'm curious if any MyBitcoin users have received BTC. Supposedly, they would refund you 49% of the balance you had with them at the time of the hack. Furthermore, I'd like to know the exact TXID and output addresses that were used for refunding of the Bitcoins and the ones linked to the alleged hack. Any help is appreciated.

Greetings!

I am currently researching MyBitcoin's alleged hack that happened back in July/August 2011. I do realize that it happend more than 7 years ago at this point but nonetheless I am seeking for some first-hand information. I am also not going into specifics as of now, as I would simply love to hear whether there's somebody on here that would be able to provide some more details.

Thank you.
