I'm not implying that it's a crime, but it does seem like a strange thing to do especially when you have a bunch of people watching what you're up to with their money. Then again I've no idea what the terms of crowd sale were.

What do folks make of this? Did everyone crowdfund this buy of some operation I've never heard of?

Pocketing investor's money is a crime; buying a worthless company for too much money is a poor business decision. But not a crime.

I am surprised that Mycelium is doing so well.
I figured that there would be many more people getting involved in this.
I find it odd that there is so little interest in a btc offering as compared to the altcoin offerings as of late.

1400 btc raised so far is pretty good. but I'm with you, I wonder how shitcoin projects easily raise 10 times as much lol

I think most people just probably went, oh hey, sounds like a win, here's some coin. People have $ to burn apparently. Tongue

absolutely. they don't want to risk missing an opportunity Smiley I like to invest too, unfortunately, my bag is not as big

This first round is for 5% of the wallet. The next round is for 25% so you better pray that it makes at least 5x more 'donations' for you to simply break even.

the next round may not for BTC but like a typical VC raise

After registration and approving link i cannot login. I think it's because i used '\' letter in my password (this problem symbol in bad web programming)
I tried to use alpha-digits but your system asked me to use other symbols.
Now i cannot login - your system doesn't have restore/forget function.
Fine crowdsale! Thanks! I registered before for 10% bonus. Now i have the not-working login after registration Sad
Cool

I am undecided about this one. They are only selling 5% of the wallet which is not so impressive.
But when does using logic ever help in making money from these coins pumping?
I think the mycelium name is popular enough to make this coins value increase, for a little while at least.

I might just bite the bullet and invest, last time I held out..I lost to make a lot off of Ethereum because of people in threads like these...I was going to put in about 10btc in Ethereum crowdsale and instead put in a measly 1.5 just to test the waters. If you're willing to take a chance then DO IT!!  Grin Mycelium is a proven company with clout.

Seems like they changed the rules... Did anyone manage to download the original crowdsale pdf before they did so?
Is this different from the one you posted above?

I don't like Rassah response i found on reddit regarding how they will use these funds.
It's not a different link, they changed the rules and uploaded a different document in the same page. If anyone downloaded the original, please share it.

And do I have a guarantee that the collected funds will only be used for the wallet project and not for the rest of the company?

Not entirely, but that's mainly because eventually all of the rest of our company will be rolled into this wallet. Most of the expense will be used to pay Wallet developer salaries, but some of our resources (like office and general brand marketing) are shared, so it would be difficult to keep completely separate. Sorry I can't give a more satisfactory answer.

People at Mycelium are good with at creating useful and innovative applications but the thing with them is that they're not doing their best in terms of profitability. Would they be asking for money by selling a stake of their company if it weren't for them having issues with liquidity? I don't think so. I wouldn't put much money into that for that reason, plus the rules allow mycelium to buy back at IPO sell price which is ridiculous. This is no investment, it should rather be seen as a donation.
There is a rule that allows mycelium to buy back at the ICO sell price is a little strange, what are the actual rules that allow them to buy back and do you even have to sell back if you didn't want to?

This sounded good when it was first announced but it seems the further people dig the worse it looks.

Here's the source https://wallet.mycelium.com/crowdsale.pdf

This is why I think that this is more of a crowdfunding/donation event other than a call for investments. It's risk free for them, they want money in and supposedly offer a promise to give something back, but if their project is successful they can take advantage of this rule and no longer have any obligation towards buyers other than returning the initial investment.

Just for the wallet.  Undecided
Ok thanks, no deal then.
If this was for the Mycelium company as a whole then it may have been worth it.

Ya, plus they are based in Cypress...  Undecided This whole thing looks bad.

I wouldn't care to much about all the other bitcoin wallets are already out and available, Mycelium has been around a long time now and they are a great wallet for anyone to use.
I do wonder where the share holders dividends are going to come from though.

Is this investment just for the wallet or is it the Mycelium company because the company does have other revenue streams such as hardware wallet.

I agree. And their spokesperson in their chat just stated that he values Mycelium at 10-100 million, for a wallet that makes a few hundred dollars per month. You can earn more by interest alone at ridiculously low interest rates, so the project is losing money. Plus the value of the tokens depends on how many suckers the next round can attract.

Not to mention how many other android and ios wallets are available now. I will not be investing in this one.

I think it's a real good deal

Personally i 'll keep an eye on this.

After all it's Mycelium we are talking about, not some altcoin that came out of nowhere

tip: keep visiting icocountdown! it does all the "dirty" work for us, wannabe investors  Wink
thanks for the edon case by the way!

But there are many android and ios wallets. And myc only makes a few hundred a month. And with all the speculators that will probably blindly throw their bitcoin into this, the valuation will be crazy. This is a sign that we're at the peak of the ICO bubble.

Well,  it's not that simple as answering yes or no, being that several factors come into play, however I have to say, they are certainly a trusted company who's android wallet has been in the google app store for quite some time now. I have had their  android wallet since it was initially first released. It was among the some of the first bitcoin android wallets on the market. I'm considering investing durring the crowdsale.
Bitcoin crowd sales are all the rage these days, they pop up almost every month. That's what the bad part is,  crowdsales raise red flags amongst the supporters of our crypto community, mainly because they have a certain odor that reeks of scam. However, it's best to do your research my friend to find out if it's the right choice for you!

I'm interested in what other people in this forum think about this.

Is it a good investment?
