There has been some insight recently in to what exactly happened to these ethereum addresses connected to three icos as outlined in this article.

I have obviously been hacked is there any recourse?  Only lost about 2 ETH worth of tokens, as well as allmost 1 ETH, if nothing else that should be a capital gains loss am I right?
There are lot's of phishing site's or fake sites out there so we should really be careful since we are talking about our money or the money that we earned,
So you should really double check the site before logging in I think there is nothing more that you could do for the stolen tokens sorry mate.
They are even using these token based ICO based on the ethereum platform to do these phishing attempts.
Using emails from the support email addresses to send participants of these ico in which they take a part of to click on a link to get their tokens sent to their myetherwallets. They mention it is a requirement in order to receive the tokens correctly or they will lose them for good.

They are basically forcing you to go to the link and entering in your wallet information or even if you have autofilled enabled they are able to retrieve the information this way with out you entering in anything.

Very crafty of them to do this in order to get into these accounts to retrieve eth or these tokens given to them.

But my question is how were they able to get the database of the ico participants to email them this request to click on their phishing links in the first place?
Is there a leak in these particular icos from the very start?

I think it is not about phising but malware that invected your PC. I have one myetherwallet hacked. Then I create one more in the same PC. Next day the second wallet hacked too. Next day I make new wallet from other PC. till now the wallet is secure. I think it is not phising but it is spyware that your not knowing installed in your PC. I think you should re-install new program of your PC.

There are so many reasons that could cause this hack, one is the phishing website which we can be caution of; the second possible cause is the downloading from untrusted  website that download malware that steals information stored into notepad .txt.

I am sorry for your lose mate.

This is why it's always imperative to check the site URL before entering or clicking it, as some hackers nowadays are just changing the domain of the original site and use it to phish accounts. If you are not keen to see it, you will definitely lose your account to them.

If I'm not mistaken, this did not only happen with MyEtherWallet, but I've read that something similar to this also happened to Blockchain users. Instead of Blockchain with "info," they mistook it with "net," and their accounts got hacked and the hackers took all their balance.

I agree, this has been going on lately especially myetherwallet. There is a fake website and I think myetherwallet.com even is aware of this and placed a warning sign above the correct website. You can never be too careful so to be sure, if not double checking the website triple if it must before entering your details.

I read on multiple places on the forums, slack, Reddit that there is some serious phishing attempts going on lately and there is actually a scam accusation thread about this. If you have indeed uploaded your file or private keys into the wrong site then you won't be able to have them back unfortunately.

I can't understand what you are asking.
How did you got hacked? Did you mistyped or clicked into a fake version of the wallet or something like that?

FYI the real url to the website is https://www.myetherwallet.com

If that's what happened, unfortunately there is nothing you can do about that, and your coins are lost forever.
