I sent ethereum from coinbase to myetherwallet.  I doesn't show up there.  In fact, the wallet itself doesn't show up there.  However, I used my correct wallet address, as given in the beginning.  Coinbase shows that it sent it to the correct address, and etherscan shows that that wallet exists, and what is in it, but I can't see it in myetherwallet.  When I signed up for metamask I did it with my current address.  Somehow, a new wallet has been generated that I never was given the code for, but there's nothing in it.

I contacted myetherwallet but have received no response.

Any ideas?

Yeah, the probable fact is that there was phishing, sounds like you sign up for every thing that comes in front of you and that means that you surely have given your accounts to more than a few people. That is something that you will see in the account details, so that is also a place to look and I am sure you will see where it has gone. Or, you just need to give it more time to get confirmed, or maybe there were security issues that you did not comply with on the one end.

That would be the saddest thing happened to him if he had fall on the phising mew site but he shouldn't conclude some things like that first since he need to track back on what he do and check on the block if his transaction has been confirm on coinbase nor in myetherwallet, But if there's no correct records shows that he sent on the correct address then he must be worried since there something fishy happens on his eth balance sent.

myether is the best and secure wallet so you have to use and keep hold your bit coin.

Do you mean to say that Myetherwallet is the wallet to hold out our bitcoin? Correct me if I'm wrong but you are wrong with that.  With MEW, you can store ETH and other ERC20 tokens but with bitcoin, you can't

Do you have the TXID for that transaction can you show us here? It's kinda weird if it shows on the etherscan.io but not showing the balance on your MEW wallet. This sort of a bug I guess.

What does the MEW support replied?

I have been a user of myetherwallet since it was released, and until now, I have not encountered any errors, I think you have done something wrong, and that's why they do not support you.
I am also a MEW user, there is no reason to leave it. All you have to worry about is fishing. The biggest case for MEW users is they get MEW links from slack and then all the evidence has been lost stolen.
just require precision and make sure your wallet is right.

There is something wrong I guess with coinbase, they must release your transaction. I have read some the problems before and the only way to solve this is to ask the support of coinbase and let them know on what's happening to your ETH. And in able to help us too you should put the TXID so that we can see if that's really in the etherscan. But I have some doubts with this,

When I signed up for metamask I did it with my current address.  Somehow, a new wallet has been generated that I never was given the code for, but there's nothing in it.

Did you try checking your ETH addresss if that exist in etherscan.io/address/(your ETH address  here)
You can also see the balace of your eth wallet using that link.
Try to give that link in coinbase and show them that there is no history of ETH purchase.

If you are able to access to the transaction ID and it did not even arrive in there, it means that those thereums are now lost in limbo.
coinbase is a shitty exchange, i dont understand why there are some people who are still using this wallet, this remind me to those people who use Xapo and they pay fees upto $5 per transaction, and that is insane.
Stop using coinbase if you really want a good service, and if you want to avoid issues like this one.

You must try to contact the coinbase about that, There is a lot of problem with coinbase. Another best thing to make a verification through ethplorer, may be it looks the same with etherscan but you must do that to make a comparison between both of services. the fact that if you already sent your transaction in the correct address and your ethereum must be landed in your wallet.
just try to check again about that.
