Me I personally get two believes one be say the white man paper knowledge bring real development to the blackman e make us know many things na through the whiteman blacks begin to write about their own history so the whiteman paper really bring development and good things, the second one be say the whiteman paper knowledge really destroyed our culture and principle making their own to be authority over us which is very bad making our fellow blackmen to believe everything brought by the whiteman which is very bad, ethiopa was the only African country that was not colonized and till date they have their own calender which I applaud them for that, the blacks to me are and we are still much more riches than the white race the only problem is that they have the remote to our resources

One of the reasons for the death or malady of a black man most likely of those abroad is the fact of envy, jealousy, inferiority complex and mindset.
The worst is when inferiority complex is involved and we get to see a black man feeling like they owe a white person some responsibility when they are sited mostly on African or black home soil.

There used to be a saying that if one wants to hide some secret from a Blackman, it should be hidden in a book. This is to show how reluctantly myopic the black man is and the fact they know this and never want to change the conservative ways because that's what the grandparents taught is a major reason for why the black man in the context of this story suffers much more indignity, inhumaneness and  a violation of their fundamental rights.

It's really sad that we just can't be productive of our own selves using our resources and let others see and learn from our abilities.
   The question we suppose ask ourselves be say, before now how our old papas Dem been dey survive? How this life wey even with civilization e still hard, how the life been dey easy for them without civilization? Wetin and wetin Dem been dey do? Abi we never really wonder if stone age people con get sense pass modern age people even as the world dey evolve? Omor, plenty errors full and time don reach to correct Dem because if not why not? We don too follow this oyinbo people, Dem dey go through right track, we wey dey follow dem con dey pass wrong track. Something just dey wrong somewhere. We gats go back the drawing board see the errors, use eraser clean am, then draw the right links again because as e dey go so, hmmmm omor the backwardness go be gradually till fully ooo.

The white men said that if you want to hide the truth from a black man hide it in a book. But it is actually the opposite now. A lot of things we practise and follow are from the books we read and these books some were written by the whites and some black men. The thing is whether white or black knowledge is knowledge. It doesn't matter the source where it is coming from. There shouldn't be any discrimination of color especially when it comes to the interaction between one another. The earth is like a user interface and it needs to be interactive for full functionality.

I doubt that the condition we are facing in Africa is a product of us being black. the black man you are referring to is doing well in almost all the sectors on the world stage and if you take away this self-pity mentality, you will discover our only problem is that we are not ready to take responsibility for our lives and we are waiting for people from outside our environment to come fix things for us.

Sometimes I de feel say if we calm down make use of the powers when god don bless us with in a right way, Africa go develop and become dependent on themselves pass the way we de now.

I mean, how many books you don see when African men don write on how odeshi de work? Or how we fit take modernize all these jazz when black man de use wicked people for village. Who don reason to even meet with those elderly men when de stop rain and do some incantation and rain go just start to fall make those men share this update with youth so we fit analyse them and  think on how we go take use am better our lives in the future.

OP you making sense from some point, looking from the perspective at which knowledge is being passed across in Africa, it is more of a theoretical aspect than doing both theory and practical. Africans believe knowledge is in the book, read and understand, but it is a foul reasoning not anymore those it work that way.
Some persons are built with the ability to understand practical aspects than having the step by step approach of doing things on a piece of paper.
Even the richest black men in the world can't even rank anywhere close to the table of the world richest where else Africa as a whole has all what it takes to bring some one who will stand on the list. If I could understand what you mean, it is that people are found saying “book kills black.” Yes, for sure, this is like a proverb that comprises different explanations. “na book dey kill black” doesn’t mean blacks are not educated or are not rich, but it means that most of us blacks are not engaging in research and experimentation, and most of us can’t sacrifice our lives just for one single research or experiment. If you can view the universe, you will see most writers, authors, and researchers that are famous. Most of them are white, and most of them sacrifice their time and lives just to do one single thing, but we blacks will never sacrifice their lives just to be famous. So with that short thinking, that is what usually makes us the black to settle. And think the knowledge we have is okay without engaging in any research to create something that will make us famous in the whole universe.

You're very correct the black always prefer the theory than the practical when we are supposed to value the practical more than the theory because how can we put our knowledge in practice when we don't no the practical aspects of it.

I saw a guy failed an interview of something he reld in school, he studied information management that has to do with the use of computer so on the interview he was ask to type out some things using the computer however the guy was unable to operate a comon system, so that's one of the challenges we are having in this part of the world.

You dey talk say education no favour the black or the type of our education no dey work? Blacks are reading and studying very well. But the problem is that we lack aprioprate practical materials and sponsorship. In the western world as dey discover you are good at something, dey send you for proper study of that thing both theory and practical. But in Nigeria you'll literarily solve all the equation in the textbook but if you are given that which you have been solving, you can't even identify.

Take for instance, we were taught in chemistry, that acid turns blue litmus paper red. We don't know litmus paper not until during waec. I even study computer from my jss1 to ss3 but was not given an opportunity to touch a computer. not ontil I finished my ss3 that was when I registered for computer training. Where as junior school student from UK can beat a Nigerian ss3 student in  computer, because they grew and slept with it all day.

So many people have been productive but no sponsorship. All what dey will do is to take a picture of you and shear in social media without helping you. We complain of lack of electricity. This talented young man created electricity out of only crude oil and some components and said if Nigeria can sponsor him, he will produce a steady power supply for Nigeria. There is no other reason to that saying than seen idea die with a man. As for the white or other continent, they are of the habit of keep record of every idea whether it is already in actualization or about to be actualized. Many of the innovations we have today is as a result of the idea that was birthed many years back, which was taken over by the next generation.
Here in this part of the world, ideas die with the person who conceived them.

As for those who think is about reading, that's not true, as the op said, the Africans has played major roles in the life of other continent.

Black are very good when it comes to studying, academic performance. If you check the universities in Europe, Asia and America the Black people are among the top people doing academically.  What is really affecting the black people here in Africa is our system, the system is making thinks difficult for the people,  that is why when the Black's travel out they do excellent in performance just because the system of the country is really working well. If our environment is conducive I think Black's will be breaking records in every profession in theory and practical aspects. Black's are really trying no doubt about it.

I don't think its prefer but what we are given. Personally I find practical more interesting than theory which most if not all black youth enjoy.
@OP It might be my poor understanding but i don't really understand the direction of the thread. But if its about how book is killing Blackman then my thought would be lack of practical is affecting us not the book. There exist good books at there despite the poor ones.

What I noticed is that we blacks prefer the theory than the practical. The practical teaches than the theory. The theories are in books than the practicals.
