I looked up Wikipedia's definition:
it's mostly used as buzzword.
They are trying to make it a hot topic just as NFT was a few months ago or ICO or a few years ago
They're now trying to add different money-grabbing buzzwords into one new name.

This explains a lot:
The term "Web3" was coined by Polkadot founder and Ethereum co-founder Gavin Wood in 2014
Altcoins (AKA shitcoins) were solely created to make the creator rich, and it looks like this new hype is just more of the same.

They are trying to make it a hot topic just as NFT was a few months ago or ICO or a few years ago even though they are all central participants and offer nothing new.

The biggest problem is that there are no real investments and therefore all of them are trying to be centralized and bring quick money to developers.

[Nope]No hype delivers more than hope
Lack of actual decentralization aside — I'd say it's the lack of an actual valid use-case.

Web3 is no exception, everything is developed on a business basis, nothing is free. Since decentralization demands transparency and is not regulated, it is a difficult problem for developers to earn "money" without burdening users or not even realizing that they have to pay. So in their implementation, they have to use a little centralized way.

If you want something to be acceptable to more people, it must be clearly understandable, simple and easy to use. plus, a large number of people are lazy to learn new things, especially if they don't see a direct benefit from using it.
maybe the purpose of web3 is not to be acceptable, but just preparation for some other change. it will not be the only technology that failed to take root, but it may leave the foundation for something else.

Not a lot of solid implementation and use-case makes Web3 a buzzword and a hype word other than anything. Most web3-related content I've seen either requires someone to pay for it through tokens, or just plain concepts on how it will shape the 'internet of the future' or something like that. Right now though the rest of the world is still in web2 and is doing fine. Web3 is just a term used by coin develoeprs to hype what they are going to release and nothing else.

On ramp? When did Web3 need money? Think I've used wallets to connect and get stuff done many times without transacting a single token already.

Maybe the problem, as OP's post might clue in on, is that Web3's just one of those hype terms being bandied around to popularise some other cashgrab.

I guess when people have understood how it works like it's just an added feature that you can easily connect your wallet to websites, then that's how they see the essence of web3.

It's still in its infancy and I think the main reason why the learning didn't proceed just like the enthusiasm of many through NFT games is because of the bear market.

This is what's happening when the market enters the bear, interest decreases anything related to crypto.

Block halving is coming.
That's good point, people would like to move/sell their digital item even if they no longer can play the game. But if the online game is still centralized (e.g. server to handle interaction between player and host game asset), can't they just blacklist account/wallet address which use digital item from banned player?

They shouldn't have the right to blacklist accounts/wallets of their players unless it was from fraud and violates the terms of service of that centralized game if it happens it was only blacklisted on their platform but the digital item is still on their wallet and can be still transferred to another wallet. No one would buy this item, I'm sure because it's blocklisted/banned on that game however, you still own the item and anytime you can transfer it to another wallet.

You forget the one thing, most company don't care about decentralization or user having more control.

Not to mention that the current trend with games is untradables. The likes of League of Legends and Valorant having skins totally untradable seems to be racking them a good amount of money. The incentives are simply better.

Are you referring to services and businesses? Or just common internet users?

For the former, web3 is still new,  it's more like just a buzz word indeed at this early. Also, you can't expect companies just transition from web2 to web3, they have process and it takes a lot of money resources to do that which is need of considerations.
For common users, well, not everyone even knows what is decentralized and blockchain. Going there without understand things is suicide.

Lack of actual decentralization aside — I'd say it's the lack of an actual valid use-case. The current "valid" use-cases that actually works are only mostly trading and speculation(DEXs, perps, etc). As for the 99% of others? Nah, most of those don't even need to be using a blockchain.

Block halving is coming.
Only a few people know about web3 and it is not fully developed yet unlike web2 maybe if more people found web3 I'm sure they will come to use web3 due to ownership and decentralization.
I believe if more blockchain games produce gamers would choose to use web3 because they own items they bought unlike games on web2 if you bought an item/weapons/anything and then your account is banned you can't use or transfer the item anymore. That's the big thing that I want in web3 decentralized and ownership.

I'll start, I say it's too difficult to on ramp, plus if I'm not a retail investor, why would I want to come on Web3?
