Or you might be talking about transferring them and use the backup seed from your Bitcoin wallet and import it to ledger nano?
If that's the case you won't be able to do that.
He can if the original wallet generated a BIP39 seed and if it uses the same derivation paths as Ledger does. But it's not recommended and it defeats the whole purpose of a seed created in a safe environment by a hardware wallet. His original seed probably belongs to a desktop/mobile wallet and is hot. It could have been stored digitally or saved in clouds, email, etc.

After he configures his Nano S, everything should be moved from his other wallet to a Nano S generated account if he wants to upgrade his security.

how can i transfer from my bitcoin wallet on my iPhone to my nano s
What is the Bitcoin wallet on the iPhone? Huh

And is your Ledger Nano S already setup? If so... are you using Ledger Live to interface with the Nano S or are you using something else like Electrum? Huh

Note that the only way to "transfer" the bitcoin from your iPhone wallet to the Nano S wallet is to create and send a transaction. You can't "import" the addresses/keys from your iPhone wallet.

1. Keep in mind that the coins are not in your bitcoin wallet and will not be in the Nano S. Both wallets only handle keys.
2. Create a new seed on the Nano S, write the seed also onto the backup papers, install bitcoin wallet app onto Nano S, open a wallet software associated with Nano S (I use Electrum on desktop, but I guess that you can also use ledger live) and get an address from the wallet associated to the Nano S.
3. Make a transaction and send the coins from your current wallet to an address associated to the Nano S, wait to see that confirmed.

Just transfer your remaining balance from the one on your iphone to the wallet address of your nano s. But of course, you need to setup your nano s, check reply above.

But if you mean to import your wallet from that iphone to nano s, then I say its not possible, I mean it is but not recommended.

It's very simple if you have already set up your Nano S either ledger live or Electrum.
If you did not set up it yet read this basic guide below

- Set up a new device (Ledger Nano S) with Ledger live
- Set up and use Electrum with Ledger nano

Take note you must save the seed or 12/18/24 words backup to a piece of paper or any safe place because you can use it to recover your wallet in the future.

Now after you set up them generate an address from Ledger live to make sure it was a BTC address or in Electrum and then copy the address go to your "bitcoin wallet" where the BTC that you want to transfer paste the address there and send the amount your want to send.

Or you might be talking about transferring them and use the backup seed from your Bitcoin wallet and import it to ledger nano?
If that's the case you won't be able to do that.

It depends on what platform you're transferring from; whether it's custodian or not.
What you should do is to generate an address on your hardware wallet for receiving, you can equally verify if, to ensure of the address.
• If you're sending from a custodian wallet or an exchange, simply create a transaction and send while logged in,
• For a non custodian wallet, you would need to sign and broadcast the transactions, to make it accessible for the nodes.
