Bitfury went on sale to North Americans on July 7th, 2013.  https://megabigpower.com/shop/

Good to know. That 400GH/s machine does sound sexy for that price. Why does everything have to seem so risky here in Bitcoin land, if they were a proven entity I would be ordering one today.

Sorry to hear about your order, good luck, I would be just as annoyed as you if I was still waiting.

I think unfortunately many of us have orders in with BFL that have yet to materialize, and while we are happy Nasty and others have received orders we aren't seeing the ramp up production that BFL assured us of.  I have an order in on early August and at this point, maybe I'm a cynic but I don't know if I'll have it by October.  By being seat holders we've all been burned by BFL, and I think those of us still not in receipt of a unit have trouble rationalizing putting in an order that may take months to be delivered at which point difficulty has rendered worth substantially less in potential earnings.  I think we could put this up for a vote, but I'm not in favor of using our money to buy another bfl product until they've cleared up their back log and production issues.

Well BFL has delivered quite a few devices that NASTY Mining has been using for a while now, as well as delivered to me personally, so I am not as doubtful that they can deliver as you appear to be. Now if you want to talk about shipping delays I could see agreeing with you, but I would hope they are getting better, but who knows. As for the price drop, you seem to be just speculating so obviously its anybodies guess at this point if that will happen.

Have Metabank even delivered a product yet? I'm asking as I don't know, I know I have seen prototypes on YouTube and such. And obviously NASTY Mining believes they are for real since we have group buy shares in one. But since they only ship to Mother Russia we would need pay another middle man to get it here.

But diversifying, and bringing in some non-BFL miners would be a good idea too. Especially since the BitForce 500 GH/s is $22k-ish (16k-ish after 25% discount) versus the $8k bitfury.

I see no problem with sticking with BFL for this order, though I would have no problem getting a bitfury. How's that for fence sitting  Cool

400Gh/s can be ordered for $8k, with a promise of delivery in October.   BFL has shipped nothing but Jala's for at least the past week.  They are stuck on first day orders for singles.  You have a MASSIVE glut of Feb/March/April 2013 orders still waiting for production, that got ordered when the bitcoin price bubbled. Do you honestly think a Minirig ordered now would be delivered by October?

The voucher was originally going to be for 60 days delivered with your shipped order.  Now they have backpedaled on the expiry duration, and dumped them all at once on us regardless of your delivery status.  They did not do this for no reason.  I believe that reason to be they are losing sales, need cash, and want a price drop to boost pre-orders funds coming in and get their manufacturing lines running again.  They need the voucher promise out of the way so they can price drop, else they'll lose money on the vouchers.

All in all, you need to look at the evidence presented today.

Bitfury: 400Gh@$8K;delivery promise:Oct 31, 2013; new unknown startup, however some evidence of performance
BFL: 500Gh@$18K(!);delivery promise: perpetual 2 weeks(tm);experience in the mining hardware industry, however no evidence they are cleaning up their act

Or we could just sit on the cash and wait for a product to be stocked and delivered under 2 weeks, from whomever can perform.

Personally, I think the smart move is to wait.  If I was hell-bent on ordering now, I think the choice is bitfury.

Full disclosure: I have a July 2012 BFL order that I'm waiting on, and I'm starting to get pissed about and I have a voucher code and chips codes that I'll likely never use.  I haven't yet, but I'm considering placing a bitfury order.

NASTY MINING: 500GH/s Miner Loan
Requested Amount: BTC200
Payment Address: 1H5HhKAsGYDVbYScTGWW5UvSDcDZXxp1qL

LOAN REQUEST:
I am raising funds to take advantage of the 25% Butterfly Labs discount coupon to order a 500GH/s Miner for NASTY MINING.  I am personally pledging BTC50 to the effort and will not be repaid anything until all other lenders have been repaid in full.  Lenders will be repaid by NASTY MINING's 25% share of NastyFans' donation distributions.  If you are interested in participating in this loan, please see the following thread for more information: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/100-repaid-nasty-mining-200-btc-loan-258099

Forget BFL. I have my doubts about their ability to ship.  Take a look at bitfury, 400GH for $8k, they are advertising shipping in October.

I don't feel good about continuing to support a company that has repeatedly failed/is failing to deliver. I also believe BFL will do a price drop sometime after the coupon expires.

Bitfury is just as much of gamble on shipping as BFL is at this point.

Tell me why I'm wrong on this...

Whats the order number for the BFLs that we are waiting on?

I'd rather not disclose the exact order numbers (not sure why, just doesn't seem like a good idea).  I will say that we still have 2 more first month orders that I am expecting in the coming weeks.  After that, our next order was in September.

UPDATE:
I purchased 1 share of soniq's KNCMiner Jupiter group buy for 2.8 BTC, which will be about 13.3GH/s.

THE GOOD:
I traded our Block Erupter & 1 BTC for a 5970 GPU to use in our scrypt miner.  This GPU was successfully configured to mine NovaCoins, which I think will be extremely beneficial for long term savings.  NastyFan Akka has also donated a 5870 GPU for our scrypt miner that is expected to arrive in a week or so.

THE BAD:
While testing the new 5970 in our scrypt miner, I overloaded the PSU and burned it out.  I've ordered a much more powerful PSU that will be capable of running our 2x7970/5970/5870 scrypt miner.  We've also had a bad few days of luck on P2Pool but hopefully that will turn around soon.

I think the p2pool v13 switchover is now just waiting for the Nasty nodes (since it has such a large percentage of network power). Any plans for when that may happen?
EDIT: boom! I saw nasty upgraded, the switchover should happen shortly. Hopefully more asics come on board now...

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.  Smiley

Nice!

I found out about Nasty Mining by watching my P2Pool client, noticing the recent domination.  So, I bought a seat at the fan club.  Very cool!

I just bought a seat too for the same reason, that vanity address is great publicity! It's great to see a project like this, especially supporting p2pool.

You need to go to settings and on the top of the page under 'donations' enter your bitcoin address, if you leave this empty you are effectively refusing donations. Hope this helps.

How long before unpaid seat purchases are confirmed?  Is this a manual process?  The bitcoin transaction for the purchase has 14 confirmations at the moment.  Just bought my first seat to join the club.  Grin

The server responsible for handling payments had some problems (again). Sorry. It is back online and all queued purchase orders are complete. Thank you for reporting and for your patience.

Great - that did it...  Thanks
