Looks like they just want people's money. They don't seem to understand the technology as you currently have to pay more if you pay with bitcoin (instead of less!). I can't be too excited about this yet.

Well as a business speaking you can bet they want your money, everyone wants your money, but it's specially annoying when they don't understand the tech properly. Anyway I agree that the millenials want to pay in Bitcoin specially porn related stuff which is more anonymous.

This still doesn't explain why it costs more to pay in Bitcoin than in traditional way when in reality it's cheaper for the operator of the site to accept Bitcoin than Credit card payments for example.

The only way I can explain this is an anonymity card that they are charging. Especially after what happened with Ashley Madison hack and their users.

Why does it cost more to pay in Bitcoin? Didn't they use current exchange rates on exchanges to determine the Bitcoin price for the services?

Like I already said above, this makes no sense at all. They must be charging more the fact that with Bitcoin you are quite anonymous. So they are pretty much just using the situation to ransom more money for themselves.

It's actually cheaper for them to use Bitcoin than traditional payment methods so this really makes no sense at all.

I think that as long as something gets the word out for bitcoin without it being about negative news then it's good. Obviously CEOs are going to use every chance they get for publicity of their venture but that doesn't take away the fact that the CEO of a hugely successful venture received coverage after having something positive to say about BTC.
Agreed, if people all of the sudden see a pay with bitcoin option, they might be inclined to learn what bitcoin is.

Bitcoin has a lot of potential, especialy for ecommerce and global markets, most shops accept credit cards for international trades, but bitcoin would make it a lot easier and cheaper for both the buyer and seller. If this particular brand of products of Naughty America will do any good for the image of bitcoin and mass adoption is debateable, it could blamish the Blockchain to be for crime and porn. But that is what got VHS going and slumped betamax, so who knows what good it might bring to us.

Companies should stick to a payment method a bit longer, any revenue is revenue, as long as it adds up down the line and nothing significant was lost, keep it a while longer and see how to drive more Bitcoin using traffic to your website and let them spend it.

I would have thought there would be much more interest to use Bitcoin after the Ashley Madison hack. It became clear that using credit cards for these types of transactions are not a good idea. The porn industry should use this as a marketing tool, for people to rather use bitcoin over credit cards, if they want some degree of privacy.

A hack like Ashley Madison, has the potential to ruin a industry, if people start to commit suicide over things like that. Some things should just be private and bitcoin respect that, if you use it correctly.

Alot easier to hide a bitcoin payment from your wife then a credit card bill.  "Honey?  What's this $19.99 charge to naughty America?"
Well theoretically if we were using just bitcoin you would still see a $20 charge to someone, it just wouldn't show who.

Well of course people want to buy porn with bitcoin. It's not tied to a real person like a credit card.

They don't care about bitcoin at all, they will likely use a service like bitty which would auto sell the bitcoin to $. These companies who accept  bitcoin  mostly care about $ and not BTC

I guess they're factoring in the loss of repeat card charging but that must cost a whole lot more than any jacked up fees could compensate for.

Very good point. They definitely don't want that to stop happening. There's always someone not paying attention or not really caring about their money.

I guess bitcoin is related to secretive activities and potential anonymity, making people feel safer to use for this purpose...

Bitcoin doesn't need to replace a whole national currency to be successful, that's what people are not understanding. Finding ourselves few niche use cases like this and we are set for life! Smiley

For example remittances and Bitcoin and porn industry related payments. For these kind of porn industry related payments we need to remember that we are not completely anonymous but only semi anonymous, but even this is enough in most cases!

They claim processing costs more. I've no idea where they got that idea from when processing costs are easily viewable by anyone. I guess they're factoring in the loss of repeat card charging but that must cost a whole lot more than any jacked up fees could compensate for.

Exactly, Which makes me wonder why did they took the Bitcoin option away, it was a source of profit...

Anyways, they found out again what people want, and they'll give people what they want. The benefits of Bitcoin in porn were very discussed around here and valid points were made. I bet they're aware of that.

Naughty America's CEO says the firm has seen a surge in demand for bitcoin following the launch of its virtual reality (VR) products.

The adult empire – which operates a network of 45 sites – had ditched the currency in 2014 following underwhelming sales. When it reappeared as a payment option this week, users were stumped as to why.

Speaking to CoinDesk, Andreas Hronopoulos revealed bitcoin's reappearance was a result of Naughty America's 'virtual porn' launch, which triggered a wave of online support for the currency.

He added:

Quote
"We found VR is geared towards a Millenial audience, they seem to have an interest in bitcoin – it aligns more with how they think, how they spend their money."
