Tell us please how much power this rig draws? 850PSU enough for 4 overclocked 5830?

It's enough, at least for this kind of OC - I'm running the same system. But it should be a gold certified PSU.

Try OC'ing the outside card just a little more, don't touch the other ones. Bring up the fans to 90-100% and try getting the gaps between each card a little bigger to give them some more space to breathe, ideally putting an extra fan ontop.
83°C is close to the  limit, I never go above 80, my hottest card is currently running at 76°C with 960Mhz on each and the outside card at 1000Mhz.

Still happen if you turn it off vs sleep?

I just disabled monitor sleep in the power profile and instead turn off the power on the monitor itself. also changed the color from 32 bit to 16, although not sure if that did anything useful.

This is pretty much the limit of these cards if you want to be mining for long enough to pay them back.  At some point you should start to play around with undervolting and lowering the clock to reduce power consumption.  10% reduction in voltage and a 10% reduction in mhz can reduce the power like 30-40%.

between a rock and a block!
So I have a system running with 4 XFX 5830s.
Win7 64 bit.
SDK 2.4
11.6 drivers (minimal install)

I'm using phoenix 1.5 from command line against slush.  each of the 4 instances is running at slightly over 301 Mhash/s

All 4 cards are set to 970/350 with 75% fan speed.

all 4 cards are next to each other.  The fan temps are: 76,76,83,64

Attached 1 monitor and using 3 dongles.

The current OC setting appear to be right up at the limits... If I go above 970, system becomes unstable.

One current and strange behavior is that once my monitor goes to sleep, if I "wake up" the system by say moving the mouse, the system freeze and I will need to reboot.  So, I don't touch it... it's been running for days now.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on maybe trying to squeeze out more Mhashes with currently loaded OS?

Side note:  with only 3 cards I was able to run the cards at about 308/309 Mhashes but it was OC'ed to 980-990.  With 4 cards 970 is the highest I can run at as long as I don't wake up the monitor.

Obviously one option is to never let the monitor go to sleep... but this in itself isn't a big issue, I can leave it be....

I'm more interested in hearing some suggestions on how to squeeze more out of these cards...

phoenix is launched via a batch file:

:start
phoenix.exe blah blah blah
go to start
This takes care of phoenix.exe crashes.

Additionally, I have a scheduled task that kills all phoenix.exe instances every 30 minutes. and above batch files just launches it anew.

Thanks for your input!
