Hi everyone. I just wanted to get some advice regarding my portfolio. Im failing new to alt coins. I have bought bitcoin before but only a few years ago and lost it all on Cryptosy since I forgot about it. When all the bitcoin mania was going on It perked my interest again. So I dont know if it was smart or not but I took $750 out of a brokerage account I has in early January and bought tron. I was lucky as I didn't do any research on this coin and bought in at .09. I was buying the hype you could say. I then was able to get out around .25. I was so excited as I am used to normal investments where I might get 20-25% in year if I selected a good stock. So I bought onto the cypto hype train at that point. With that money I did some research and I found 2 coins I think had a good chance of making a good ROI. I bought into Oyster Pearl and Deeponion. I liked what both of those coins were trying to do and I thought I was still buying in at a good price. Since I bought into those coins in mid January. I have lost almost all the profit from what I got from tron at this point. I want an honest onion If i should stay invested in these coins or if I should move it to another coin.

I don’t know anything about Deeplnion, but Oyster Pearl might have a chance to gain value. I bought some of that one after I heard it would run on the IOTA Tangle. If IOTA really takes off, I think Oyster Pearl could do well too. I am heavily invested in IOTA right now and I think it could be big later this year after they get their new wallet out and start implementing their project.

I see that you are new here.
Most ICOs do have an announcement thread on the Announcements section.
If they don't, you should probably not invest in them.

The discussions here should be able to help you understand the offerings and the potential upside. There is a lot of noise ofcourse, but among all other options to access the right investments, this is probably the best.

This is apart from the fact that you should understand the whitepaper. It is a big bonus if you are able to work out the technical details of the paper. Blockchains in general have a lot of open questions and active research going on. Many whitepapers (that i have come across) promise a great deal that isn't practically possible yet. If you understand the tech, you might be able to make a better informed guess as to whether it will work.

If you don't, run it through a friend who does understand.

To answer your specific question, move your coins to ones which you feel have a solid value proposition and a tech to back it up.

Cheers!

If you've already invested in some altcoins then wait for them to increase their prices, even if they have waited for a couple of years. People make the most mistakes when investing in a coin, and the price starts falling, panic begins to sell coins to save at least part of the investment. WRONG!!! Keep calm and stay cool. When you invest, invest only as much as you are willing to lose. If you sell at an unfavorable price, you have lost irretrievably. If you wait for the price recovers, you can recover your investment and even make money.

In any forms of investing, there is always at risk. So better not forget that.

OysterPearl and DeepOnion have already shown good price rally since their commencement of operation. It might repeat or not that's why you should accept that "loss" is part of the game. There are ways to minimized it on which we can discuss on a seperate discussion. On a positive note, they can also give you a decent return. Everything is possible to happened.

Anyways, you are on the stage where you test what things should you do. Since you already executed your moves then wait for the output of it. If loss, try to pinpoint on what stage you did some mistake and try to find solution on it. If won, then improved that winning strategy. You know it's really depend on a person itself how they will win the game. Build experienced and just move forward. While on progress, you will literally know how to deal on that concern.
Thanks for this post. This can help me a lot.

you need to investigate, compare with other ICO's before you invest in anything. So... reading reading reading is a key. Be informed.

1 - Read the whitepaper
2 - Research about the team involved
3 - Search about the ICO in ICO rating websites, social media, bitcointalk
4 - Enter the ICO communities and read as much as you can about the project, check how the devs connect with people

But as I said, you need to read about all of them and you will know much more than now.
