My electricity is 15c/killowatt. I would want to run it just for the namesake and knowing how it runs. I'd expect payment in btc or ltc for the electric costs. I live in northeast U.S.

Good thing I have my own mini data center  Grin - I would consider doing this through my tech company since we do some hosting for web and other pieces.  FYI, I run all Cisco, have a 45KW genset, Cooling and UPS power, redundant internet, with a 20MB Fiber (Upgrading to 100MB) and 250MB Download from Shaw. We are in Canada eh? (Vancouver, BC) - I was considering building out a portion of the building we own if there actually was enough interest - hash hash hash  Wink

Just added the first piece of Avalon Batch 2 - Equipment

My electric rates are near 8¢ / kwh

I have my own Avalon, and in the winter it reaches -20°F.  If you paid the electricity usage, I would host your machine for the waste heat, and the ability to park my own 4th module in it.

You should be looking for colocation service. Because Avalons are not rack mountable, you'll want a place that provides a shelf or tower hosting (though make sure that your Avalons are placed horizontally, not vertically like a tower!). I don't have an Avalon or its dimensions, but I suspect that a shelf in a rack may not be doable unless its placed sideways (where the intake fans will be on a side of the rack instead of the front, which may cause heat issues). However there are places that have actual shelves mostly meant for tower hosting.

Depending where you live, you may have many or no colocation services near you. In which case shipping can be quite costly. I'd also recommend having a way to hard reboot remotely, or colocate in a place with free or cheap remote hands (some places do reboots free).

I'd begin by searching for colocation in your nearest cities/metropolitan areas. If you reveal your general whereabouts, I'm sure people could be more helpful as to specific companies.

Also, I've seen some people offer to host on these boards. These may or may not be in a proper datacenter, and you have to trust the person with your money making machine. But they would probably be better setup with the knowledge to properly host an Avalon.

I hit the maximum amount of avalons my apartment can handle today. I need to find a company that will host my equipment. I did keyword search for server farm, data center, and server hosting. So far everybody i called said they only host their own equipment. Im wondering if im searching for the wrong service or if anybody can recommend a company that can host my equipment.

Thank you for the information.
