thread in the bitcoin forum.  they seem to be catching up on holiday orders still.  something about shipping in south africa.  may take month+ to get your shit.  but looks like good shit.

sure beats my wooden shoe racks.

Haha for sure, I might have to build some sort of temporary rig while I wait for one of these to ship...

I messaged a guy who builds really nice looking open rigs, (From this topic https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/aluminum-stackable-open-miner-frame-288130) but I dunno if he will get back to me.

I bet demand is pretty high for those things.

Man I wish I had a 3d Printer.

Our 5x 280x rig runs of two of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182264

It's just about the nicest 80Plus Gold 750W PSU for the price. The fact that it's modular is icing on the cake. Two of them will run you ~$220, which is not a bad price for 1500W!

We run the MB, 2 GPUs, and 4 of the risers on one of them. The other one runs the remaining 3 GPUs and 1 of the risers. Total draw from the wall (for both PSUs) is 1450W (stock), and 1250W (undervolted @ same hashrate). If you're not undervolting, going with 2x 800W would be better, just to give yourself some wiggle room.

Thank you, I'll take your advice on that PSU.  It's hard to find one with 4 6+2 pins for such a good price.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Will two of these PSUs work? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817374052)

Maybe this motherboard? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131872)

How much RAM is necessary for 4, 3GB cards? Would 1 8gb stick cover it?

Sorry for all the questions, I've only mined on gaming PC's.

let's make a deal.
Hello everyone, I've been hanging around on this forum for a while and I've decided it's finally time to get serious about mining.

I want to build a rig with 4 of these GPUs (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161441).

I realize this question is probably asked way too often, but I was having trouble finding a thread that matched the parts I'm looking to buy.

My questions are: What power supply would I need to go for?

What is the best motherboard for 4 of those GPUs?

Where do you guys buy your powered risers from?

Any tips or advice to help me out here would be greatly appreaciated.
for 4 280x, use 2x 800w power supplies.

you'll definitely have to go with powered risers for 4 cards.  i get mine from ebay, but used to get them from dealextreme.  almost any motherboard will work.  i use asus a99x evo for rigs with 4 cards; they can use pci-e 1x risers without modding mobo.

make sure you have sufficient ram to run the 4 cards, or you'll get 'error 4' on cgminer.

I am also curious, since that will take a lot of power.
over in this thread, I asked a similar question:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/litecoin-motherboard-january-14-409159
(there they also discuss mobos and thus answer part of your question)

3x280 you will need safely a 1200W PSU, you might get away with 1000W, but that is probably pushing it.
4x280 > 1200, the next step is usually 1600 I think

But then the costs for the PSUs... Not sure if isn't just cheaper to
sounds cheaper to just build 2 rigs with a mobo for 2 GPUs and lower watt PSU?

Hello everyone, I've been hanging around on this forum for a while and I've decided it's finally time to get serious about mining.

I want to build a rig with 4 of these GPUs (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161441).

Above GPU sold out while I was setting up this list..... Deciding to go with this one instead (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150678)

With the correct risers, I'm thinking this motherboard will work. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131872)

For risers I need 2 16x to 16x powered risers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HGQ0MYU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1AQJTRN2131MJ) and 2 1x to 16x powered risers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008BZBGPO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1PCZHK9PR9IK5)

Power supply is gonna be 2 800 watt (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182264)

Editing all this, thanks for all the help guys.

Also, still trying to figure out how much RAM I need for 4 3gb cards.

Any tips or advice to help me out here would be greatly appreaciated.
