The following website gives you access to paid digital scientific libraries via some type of proxy mechanism. I would hate to take advantage of this wonderful site, only to be hit with a massive copyright lawsuit. Is it safe to just download to my heart's content?

I don't know the details behind the technology but it will depend on what the proxy actually is ( the technology ) and more importantly who is actually operating it.
the private/paid vps are the best of kind to remain anonymous according to me but they are still ways better then that you can try googling about it !!

I actually already used it and was able to access a PDF on JSTOR (something that doesn't work unless you have a subscription). So I don't know what your issue is. As my first post indicates, I'm apprehensive about proceeding further until I get a second opinion.
