I was looking for a legitimately talented individual to join a team and contribute. Not for fake profiles. Probably I should have described. Even if I wanted one, I wouldn't be asking here. Anyways, thank you stranger for being so kind to give a negative trust.

This is morally, ethically and plain wrong. He needs the endorsement and good name of well-connected bitcoin professionals to be linked or attached to his ICO. There is always a motive for such things and the only one I can think of right now is a fishy one.

Let's change gears.
What happens if PETA gets a celeb to endorse a campaign for their protest against seal hunts?

You're basically hiring an endorsement.

Similarly, there are instances where celebrity tech enthusiasts, super models etc (like Karlie Kloss) gets approached by saas companies (like Wix) to endorse their product.

Please, tell me how it's different. For one, it'll prevent the likes of me from joining the fishy people, and secondly, there'll be a clear consensus about what's right vs what's not.

Having someone's good name endorsing or vouching for his ICO will lure unsuspecting and naive investors to pump funds into his ICO. It's the connections which count and which make a difference. Imagine a scenario where Roger Ver's credentials are linked to his ICO. That would be a huge jump from nothingness to greatness!

And of course he will compensate for those credentials. It's akin to bribing someone to say he and his ICO are on the up and up. Then when the scam (if it does turn out to be a scam) is exposed, guess whose name is dragged through the mud later..

This is just WRONG...

Hiring people with experience as consultants / mouthpiece for an organisation is wrong? Care to explain that to me, please?

PS: Not defending. Trying to Learn.

Need someone with Blockchain background.

I don't get it. You need someone who's WORKED on blockchain based tech so you can use their credentials to "sell" your product?
Or are you looking to hire a blockchain expert who'd represent your tech and spread it to their connections?

If its the first, then that's not only wrong, morally speaking, its also very scandalous.
It's better you come clean. Because if you want to hire people with substantial history in blockchain and cryptos to act as your product's mouthpiece - then that's understandable.

You are going to put someone's linkedin profile who isn't part of the ICO team in order to make it feel something professional? I don't understand?
Smells fishy, odds and suspicious. Obviously, you got it right! He just wanted to use a linkedin profile to be shown on the list of their teams. It is fooling other people and we would not tolerate a kind of that action here because we don't want scam projects. So be careful on dealing with this person guys.
