i would suggest a better psu then cx series by corsair, like RM 450-550, they offer at least better efficiency, and they are fully modular

I agree I have RM 850 and RM 1000's much better choices

Hello, I recently purchased a used Antminer S3+. I bought a PSU that might not work. It's a Rhino Panther 4. The problem is it only has 1 PCI-e connector (6-pin). The S3 manual says I need 2. Should I return the PSU? What PSU's will work? Can I use it with 1 connector? Please respond. Thanks

return the garbage psu.  if you are close to New Jersey .

I have one for you a seasonic .  650 x gold it will run it for you. shoot me a pm if you want it 'cheap'   used.

Or go out and get the corsair cx 550 or cx 650 should work.  my seasonic is better but it is used.

that psu is crappy! only 21A on 12v. it can run only on 1 blade!

more 6pin u can get with this adapter:

u need single rail 35A, or above, if you want to use it for s3

if u want in the future to upgrade to s5, u need an single rail of 55A or above Wink

good luck!

It might have been a 850 is used.  its been quite a while since I used the CX series.  I love my RM series psu's.

If it has anything like that adapter in the PSU I would avoid it at all costs.  I used a cheap y splitter once on a PCIe and it burnt, never again.   They just don't make it high enough guage from cheap PSU's.

Me again. I found some CX's I like. I probably get the 750 watt. Also, how much will a S3+ earn before electric bill?

You can go to coinwars to caculate it. Or bitwisdom for long term calculation.

With the CX series count on a little more watts then spec.  If I remember right they are bronze.  I have used them nothing wrong with them, they just are not the most efficient.

Hi thanks for the replies. I was looking over a local electronics store and wanted to know if Corsair AX or HX would work? I'll keep looking...

Look for a corsair cx550 for example or a cx750 to be prepared for a second S3+ or one S5  Smiley

That is one of the big decisions is if you are going to use it with a second eventually.  You can save money by getting one that works for both.

And also PSU's are able to be resused over and over when switching miner generations.  So buying a nice one is not a bad idea.
