AFAIK old devices are supported with a firmware update. But haven't tested it yet. Not even sure if the update is released yet.

However cold storage is for large amounts. The NEM android wallet doesn't have the most inspiring reviews and this is telling us to use this set up at our own risk. Think I'll wait for Trezor myself.
