Neuralink is going to do some amazing things for people.  I like that it isn't currently being planned for human use for anything other than restoring functionality to human beings who have lost things like their hearing or use of limbs from various causes.  If neuralink is able to start getting people out of wheelchairs by the thousands I think it will be pretty clear to those involved that they are doing something great.

If you think it is going to have you googling things in your head and playing video games with your mind, you'll likely be waiting a very long time.

That's literally a demo from the 1980s btw.

I would give you a better source for it, but search engines don't work anymore for whatever reason.
I just saw this video and when I searched with the same title without clicking on the link you provided but the video didn't exist Cheesy
By referring to the video you gave and the argument you said. does that mean Neuralink is just an exaggerated fantasy. or did they just make politics a counterpoint to the Metaverse?

Implanting a chip could allow for GPS tracking and surveillance.

They could tag humans the way whales and sharks are tagged to track their movements.

This is already done with smartphones to a degree. But there are people who are conscious of it, who carry their smartphone inside a EM shielded case to deter tracking which occurs even when phones are turned off.

Metaverse I'm not certain on. It seems like a poorly conceived attempt to reinvent the internet.

Like flying cars, I don't think the promises and expectations will hold up to their ability to deliver.

I think people should be careful about it, because we don't know what can be the potential side effects of chips implanted into the brain.

Without any doubts it's awesome that paralyzed people can increase the range of activities they do daily, raising their life quality and participation on the society, but I can't deny it's a very dubious situation, because besides the risks to our brains, we would be completely opening our minds to a third party company or individual to read our thoughts and to know everything passing through our minds.

Moreover, when the Holy Bible talks about the mark of the beast, one interpretation could be these chips being idealized by Elon Musk. So yes, it's really scary, if you ask me.

This is a terrific device. I remember seeing it in a movie where a chip was transplanted within a human brain not realising its already being tested on monkeys. I just watched a the video in which a monkey used his mind to play a video ping pong game with the help of an android. The reaction and how it tapped the game were near-perfect.
This technology may already exist in the sense that it is controlled or disguised by governments in order to prevent the world from seeing the negative aspects of it, similar to the comments I noticed on the websites when Elon Musk tweeted about the test in December.

Quote
Following Musk’s tweets, while one Twitter user jokingly wrote, “Will I be able to know what my parents are thinking at all times if they have it,” another asked, “...could I input a neural memory of how to play "Fur Elise" and my fingers receive the impulses and play it?”. One user simply said, “That’s literally amazing”. “Hearing about it is cool but I'm pretty excited to watch someone disabled walk again with this tech. Godspeed sir,” wrote fourth.

Why would somebody want to put this to the test on his parent? You can understand why the government must rigorously regulate this. These comments are frightening as proof to halt widespread abuse, but they might be used to help the disabled and certain sick individuals.

Indirectly with this Neuralink we can connect to Smart Devices that we use everyday such as laptops, televisions, smartphones, game consoles and others just by using our minds and without the need for a touch of the hand. And indirectly with this Neuralink, it also allows paralyzed people to do anything like normal people in general, such as using smartphones, communicating with friends, surfing websites and even playing games just by utilizing the power of brain waves.

Devices which measure brainwaves allowing a person to move a cursor on a computer screen have been around for a very long time. Its technology from the 1980s or earlier.

There is no doubt brainwaves can be electronically measured and used as input for a computer GUI or prosthetics. Its near to 50 year old technology.

What will matter most with neuralink is how much they have progressed and improved over past implementations of the technology. If at all.

There is a chance that they have made zero advancement and the technology is being hyped for other reasons. Similar to how metaverse is being hyped enough though, as far as I know, it sucks.

Elon Musk seems to distance himself from involvement with neuralink. He never mentions it on social media. There is no swagger like was with Elon Musk's involvement with dogecoin and other projects. I think its fair to say neuralink could disappoint expectations.

With increasingly sophisticated technology will it be great for the future or will it be scary?

I'm not going to get hyped about something just because it comes from Elon Musk, especially with his less than ideal track record of delivering on promises. It's not yet clear if this brain-machine interface is any good, so no point in making conclusions.

But in general, any new invention will be used for both bad and good. Technology like Neuralink, if it is working, could help people with disabilities, could make certain workers more productive and some jobs more safe, it could be used in entertainment and so on, but it could also be used by totalitarian regimes to create even more dystopian society.

Neuralink is one of the most advanced technologies being developed by the implantable brain–machine interfaces (BMIs) company, the back of which is Elon himself as the founder there.
his device is a brain-computer interface chip which is very small in size that can be implanted into the brain.
according to Wired, "the Neuralink device is a tiny computer chip studded with very fine electrodes, intended for a robot to sew like a sewing machine into the brain. The device aims to pick up signals in the brain and then translate them into motor control."
Simply put, this chip is inserted into the brain which is used to create a symbiosis between humans and artificial intelligence (AI). Indirectly with this Neuralink we can connect to Smart Devices that we use everyday such as laptops, televisions, smartphones, game consoles and others just by using our minds and without the need for a touch of the hand. And indirectly with this Neuralink, it also allows paralyzed people to do anything like normal people in general, such as using smartphones, communicating with friends, surfing websites and even playing games just by utilizing the power of brain waves.
in a test they ran a few months ago they succeeded in getting a monkey named Pager to play the Pong game on the computer directly through his brain thanks to Neuralink's help.

With increasingly sophisticated technology will it be great for the future or will it be scary?
