I don't think that is correct. For one if you measure the outer pins of the USB connector coming from the motherboard PCI-E slot connector with a multimeter while the motherboard is on you will see there is 3.3V coming from the motherboard PCI-E slot through the USB cable to the riser. If you look at the traces on the back of the v006C/008C riser PCB you will see the USB outer pins are connected to the PCI-E slot on the riser, so there is no need for the riser to produce 3.3V when it's coming directly from the motherboard through the USB cable.

thanks Vann for measuring and clarifying !

i think their claims (5W) are valid regarding the 006 but not 006c
afaik the 006c has the switching voltage regulator (12v to 3.3v) which already is a 5W difference to the heat dissapating 006 regulator  model.

their description may be bit misleading in that regard

I doubt their power claims and would not even bother measuring.

12V ail goes straight to the GPU (not counting the fuse) and that can be up to 75W but the riser has nothing to do with it.

3.3V and 5.0V rails consumption is usually in single Watt range and their typical switching buck converter (12V->5V) has 90%+ efficiency and should not eat more than 100mW in worst case.

3.3V LDO (which they finally dropped in v008c) does not do much work and has low dropout. If it's cold to touch, it's not dissipating more than 500mW.

I like the fact that they made the PCB smaller and added an LED. It will improve airflow to some degree. A new dual output step-down converter is a nice touch. Higher voltage capacitors is a good sign too. I would order some, but already have way too many risers on hands.

Finally got the VER 008 C 6-pin risers from TISHRIC. No difference to very little diffrence in power consumption when dual mining compared to VER 006 C 6-pin risers. On one 7 card rig the 008 C risers, which are all connected to the same PSU that feeds the motherboard , it had ~10-15 W lower draw at the wall. On my 13 card RX 580 rig there was almost no difference in the power consumption while dual mining on the main PSU connected to the risers and motherboard. So it appears the '5 W lower power consumption' is not true, at best maybe 1-2 W less per riser.

I do like the slimmer board on the VER 008 C risers compared to the 006 C, which gives more room to the card next to it and perhaps improves air flow some. The LED on the board makes it easy to know the riser has power. The PCI-E x16 slot on the riser attaches very securely to the GPU and retainer clip on the riser works. I've had problems on other risers with not being able to secure the clip. The foam backing on the bottom was glued on well compared to other I've bought. Overall very good risers, I just doubt they use much less power than the 006C 6-pin risers.

I just got a bunch of the VER 008C in. They are definitely a bit smaller then any riser I've used before. The LED is green (compared red LED on the 008S) which is a bit different.

If anyone wants to help me test them out before I stick them up on Amazon and the other marketplaces? Shoot me a PM and I'll send you a couple for testing. I'm in central Oregon if anyone is local.

Anyone used the multi connector ones (sata, molex and 6-pin) all on the same card?
Apart from the oddly angled usb port any reason why this isnt a good option to improve compatibility.

Yeah, I've used them. Connecting to the Molex or PCIe plug is a bit odd, but they seem to work well. The LED is a nice touch. I use them in my Biostar TB250-BTC Pro on the "second" row, so those little 90 PCIe 1x adapters are facing toward the cards at the back of my frame.

Where did you find these ones? Were they on amazon? My google-fu is failing me at the moment for this riser board locally.

I ordered some, so I'll let you know if they do save power. I also like the fact the risers have a slimmer design that doesen't stick out from the sides of the cards. I was having to space the cards farther apart on a dual tier open air case because the risers from the cards on top would be too close to the fans on the bottom cards.
