I understand the gamer mind and its rice. Even if the 5970 is better than the 7970s the "cool kid gamer" is the one who has the 7970....  Trust me, just go to /g/ with 3x 7970s and you will have traps for life.

Which is what I was thinking.

Yet the supply of 5970s on ebay has gone down and price has gone up.  I also expected to see some waterblock modded cards (which ironically are harder to sell so they end up being a better buy for buyer) but nope.

So frustrating I should have bought more in Dec.

Maybe i need to start badmouthing those "crappy" 5970s. Smiley

Yeah but I would have thought some gamers would be looking to upgrade.  Maybe it is because 5970 > 7970 so they are waiting.

So it is come on 7990 for me to, just different reasons.  I don't really care about warranties.  If I buy a card for half the price (MH/$) then I would need 50% to fail and be covered by warranty for that to be a worse deal.  If say "only" 20% fail I come way out ahead.

Now an FPGA produced by a major electronics company that offered a lifetime warranty.  I will switch to that. Smiley

Maybe this means 5970s will get cheaper on ebay.  In Dec/Jan prices were $300 to $325 but I got greedy.  I said hey when 7000 series hits maybe prices will go <$300.  Nope today it is more like $350-$380 with the occasional $400+ (for used cards).  Come on gamers you don't want that 5000 series card.  It is two generations old.  Get you some nice 7000 series metal.

Don't worry I will give it a nice home hashing 24/7/365 until it dies. Smiley
