Thanks! I am new to this forum, how do I give merit?
For one thing, you need to earn enough merit to be able to give it and you are just starting out. A good guide to earning merit is here in the Beginners & Help area of the Forum.

Short summary: Do quality posts that give useful information and folks will give merit for it.

Nice to see a workaround for the issue.
As for using the code tag, just select the text you want to copy and hit control-insert or right click to copy it to the clipboard. Here, click on the code tag # on the toolbar to bring up the code formating. hit shift-insert to paste the code. eg, part of the source from an A10 page
Code:
function HideOrShow(){
var nav=$('side-nav');
var ctrl = $("ctrl");
var main = document.getElementsByClassName("main")[0];
if(nav.style.display==""){
nav.style.display="none";
ctrl.innerHTML="⇒";
Merit given for the workaround  Grin

I thought that it came from Canaan or an official distributor it seems that the only thing you can do is to find a firmware that reverts it back to stock firmware.
Or let's hope if Canaan will help you with your issue.

Can you try to go again on pool configuration then if you are using google chrome press CTRL+Shift+I it should show the source code or just right-click anywhere on that page then "view page source".

Paste it here with code tag #

And maybe we can find the save button there with hiding code just deleting or changing it might help to show up the button.

So I did this, couldn't figure out how to copy the code, but I played around with it and found a bottom header in the body overlaying on top of the "save" tab, I deleted it and I was able to input my mining pool and start mining. That header came back but at least I know how to get around it if I need to change pools or anything like that. Now I can at least use the miner while I wait to hear back from Canaan.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Smiley

It may take a day or 2 but Canaan will get back to you
Canaan's general dl page is https://canaan.io/service/447
Their main firmware dl page is https://download.canaan-creative.com/ but the folder for the A12 is empty...

I emailed Canaan last night but I have not received a response yet. Does anyone know where I can get this .AUP file?

I did download a manual from Canaan, and there was a procedure in there to hold down the function button for 10 seconds and then reset the miner and that will reset the pool info but this did not work either. Thanks for the responses.

'The right to privacy matters'
or simply mine at viabtc.com using their referrel code.

the cost to you is zero.

and never buy from them again.

Can you please detail me on how to replace the firmware? I would be very grateful if anyone could provide me with instructions on how to do this.
You'll have to get a link to the A12 firmware from Canaan. Their repo here has firmware for all their other miners but not the A12...

Question is, did that scamming reseller also lock out reflashing the miner... Normally you just click on "upgrade' in the GUI, point to where the .AUP file is and run it.

I bought it from apexto on alibaba from "Roy".
...
So clearly not a 'new' miner as such, they've already hacked the firmware in it and are requiring you to pay them to use it.

Clearly an obvious warning about dealing with them - they're blatantly obvious scammers.

Replace the firmware with the Canaan original, then it will mine anywhere you want.
If you don't do this, whatever hacks they've put in your miner will continue.

I bought it from apexto on alibaba from "Roy". I bought another miner from them in the past with no issues. I messaged them and told them the problem and they said if I use viabtc to mine with their referral code they will fix it. So yeah... I just want to figure out how to resolve this, hoping Canaan responds to my email quickly. Thanks for your responses.

There is no save button for me to click on. The miner is brand new, just got it today. I just emailed the support email on their website. Thanks for the response.
I was just going to ask: Who did you buy it from? Direct from Canaan or one of their authorized resellers such as blokforge.com and have you contacted them? Canaan does not ship miners that are locked so I suspect the reseller did it...

We'll see what your seller does. (and who are they?)

Is the save button is grey out when you are trying to save the pool? Or it's totally no save button?
You can find it below the "advanced configure"

Image source: https://medium.com/luxor/how-to-set-up-an-avalonminer-1246-btc-miner-1edd3b4e1672

If it's grey out maybe you need to manually type the pool URL try it to type them manually if it will allow you to save the pool.

There is someone here before with the same issue I think what he did is he flashed it with the firmware provided from their support.

So try to contact the support since your miner is still under warranty you get a response from them and sent a different firmware that is not listed on their download page.

Thank you for your response. I tried to download firmware from that link, and nothing happens. I also downloaded that app, and tried to connect to the miner by scanning for it and it doesn't show up. I have 4 l3+ machines and an LT5 all working fine, and when I use BTC tools app to scan my miners, the avalon miner shows up there. I just don't understand why there is no save button to save the changes, I watched some youtube videos and saw some write ups and they show a save button in the pools configuration, I don't have the option to.

Can you try to change the pool through their app you can download it from here https://canaan.io/service/447 then download the FMS app then set up your miner there?

If it doesn't work try to flash the miner you can download the miner from this link below.

- https://download.canaan-creative.com/

Then try to change the pool again on the dashboard through the browser.

Looking for some help. I just got my brand new Avalon 1246 85T and everything boots up and runs fine, but once I get into it, and I go to insert my pool and username, there is no option for me to save it. It just mines to this default pool that it came with on the miner. I can not change any setting in the miner either. Any help is very much appreciated, thanks!
