it's just the chip model, not something that has to do with atombios code, or hex editing Smiley

oddly today I wanted to find the difference between these two codes m25p20 / c
gd25q41b, and I noticed doing google search, says the m25p20 / c code belongs Micron memory, while gpu-z is no written samsung memory, did I miss something? Now Amazon appears to be sending all these gpu with red boxes

I assume you aren't using PBE, correct?

If yes, then this points towards an issue with PBE reading this version and not an issue with ATIFlash

edit your bios with hexeditor, recalculate checksum and it should work.

I'm trying to flash a MSI RX 470 Gaming X 4GB. Modded myself then tried some off Anoraks and after the reboot the card stopped working until I flashed with the original.

I was running the latest drivers and I'm trying to go back to 16.11.5 now to see if that works.

UPDATE: 16.11.5 fixed my issue. works great now.

I have the same problem, I bought the last card from Amazon last week, and I arrived with the red box, then the rest is all the same, samsung memory, 8GB, but with this code M25P20 / c, the only difference I natotato and Asic quality, 80.5%, compared to others I've ranging from 7
5%, 76.5%, and I also noticed that when flesho the bios does it in about 13 seconds, compared to other GPU that at least takes about 40 seconds.
I have not solved, and not know how to solve

Got this card from Amazon as well so this points to something new IMO.

I'm wondering if PBE is loading or saving it correctly.

I know GPU-Z isn't saving this version correctly from what I observed because the GPU-Z version without any modification didn't work at all when I wrote it back without any modifications.

I have three of that flash type in Freya, they flash fine with a properly modded VBIOS.

I assume you aren't using PBE, correct?

If yes, then this points towards an issue with PBE reading this version and not an issue with ATIFlash

So I've been having a hell of a time with a new Sapphire RX470 Nitro+ with 2000mhz memory that has a specific bios type.

I'm having an issue with the M25P20/c type for some reason.

Since it won't accept the roms from the GD25Q41B due to size difference I've extracted that bios with both ATIWinFlash and GPU-z and have had limited success with getting it to be stable or not hang at post.

Is this a new rom type maybe ahead of the RX500 series? These cards were just purchased within last 7 days.

Maybe ATIFlash or Polarisedit needs an update? I'm currently using IojkinKot build.

Link to the stock bios from ATIWinflash capture > https://mega.nz/#!1qx0nZZb!SdVg567fqJKEWDhLUWn5xQzvcx96Is169rRDYaisn7M

Anyone have any insight?

I had a similar issue when flashing using 16.9.2 for samsung ram intermittently so I setup another pc using 16.11.5 and the bioses then flashed without issues for me. I have now flashed about 100 powercolor RX 470 4GB samsung boards and they are all getting 29+MH per card but until I setup the other pc some cards just refused to work with bios modding.

I opened your bios in PBE, changed something, saved it, and flashed it on my 470 8gb samsung nitro+ and its working Smiley

M25P20/c is flash from RX 480. Or you flashed RX470 with 480 bios or something is wrong.

That's interesting because this is a 470 Nitro+ and it came this way and with this flash type.

Here is a GPU-Z running the stock bios

If it's being a problem, you modded it wrong.

I considered that, hence the post here but when I have a perfectly working bios on two other cards, the only difference being that this card has a different flash type. It's the same memory and the same timings.

I have no problem opening your bios with PBE, and it looks all ok, mem timings are ok, mem type is samsung etc etc , everything looks ok.

Yeah that's what I'm seeing here as well, it seems to load fine but as soon as I edit it in PBE, save it and flash it back, it gets pissy.

Starting to wonder if I'm dealing with a H97 Board issue and not a bios issue but its been mining fine all night on stock bios and the other 2 cards I have with a 28MH+ Bios.

what is memory manufacturer? you can see it using gpu-z
there are 3 type of memory each have different bios, there are samsung, hynix and elpida

It's Samsung Memory
