i havent been on the forum in a while and only glanced at the section, so i might not be grasping the full picture here, but imo that sounds too niche to be creating a whole sub board over. that aside, digital goods has always been a mess. unless it becomes a big a problem as accounts were, i dont see it happening, and from a glance it doesnt look to be that severe. broaden the hypothetical sub board to include 1 or 2 more related items and it could definitely be a possibility though.
Yeah, in my opinion its not necessary. What needs to happen is removal of the nonsense in the digital goods section, as well as getting users to condense their 4/5 threads into one. That would be a little more beneficial without having to add a whole new section.

I'd love a sub-board for crypto domain names. It's an active area, and in keeping with the aims of the forum. Digital goods is no use, as it tends to be full of spam and unrelated items.

Probably a good idea too. Digital goods is a MESS. Most of the threads are locked garbage posted by alt accounts and the real stuff gets pushed down. I think domains names are popular enough to justify a new board.

I think changing our behavior in publishing is the best way
I also hope that local councils will be activated and the culture of publishing there will be disseminated in the local language
Because it is easier to understand and will have a positive impact on the behavior of members in the rest of the forum.

Press (altcoins)

Press board in the altcoin sub forum could be useful. Although would require heavy moderation I think.

Please no. We don't really need the main bitcoin one as it's outlived its purpose and is now just a spam fest where people can get away with legalised copy and pasting, so we definitely don't need an alt coin one which would be an even bigger nightmare and just add a load of extra workload to moderation that we don't need right now. It would just be another board where bots and farmers can get paid from lazy campaigns who don't care that you're only spamming articles all day.

I agree with an Alt Coin Beginners and Help sub though as the Bitcoin one is mostly being swamped with alt coin and bounty related crap these days.

Nope. A unique global press board containing news for bitcoin, altcoins and blockchain related stuff is enough.
I would like to see people creating news there too especially related to their countries but this doesn't seem close to see for now.

The only board from the list that deserves to be added (IMO).
I agree with SFR10, but not necessary.

To be honest, nothing is going to change if we never change our posting behaviour. In my opinion increase more board means invite more spam. Because if we don't know which is appropriate board for posting than there isn't any benifite if add more board. First we should motivate people's. Just adding board are not solution. I think there is enough board for discusse all kind of topic. Especially in "Altcoin Discussion" is allowed to discuss any kind of altcoin related topic. But unfortunately people's mixing post, they never care board. Many trading related post you will find on Altcoin Discussion board. But there is a board for Trading Discussion. So eventually I want to say we need improve ourselves and motivate others. Use report to moderator button if you find any post on wring board.
I understand your view on the motivation aspect, and I think that has been handled with the new merit system,as the forum has been incentivized,as spam posts are as good as useless..
Introduction of more boards will break it down and make it a bit more understandable and less complex for those who have a habit of posting in the wrong areas..

Press would just be spammed. We already have developers, and their PR team posting their news as separate posts everywhere already. Which I'm forever removing as its just plain spam. Most of the topics in Beginner & Help fit into other sections on the altcoin section. Otherwise, project development is probably a good idea. Maybe, renaming "Project Development" to "Bitcoin Project Development" might be an idea too. Just like we had to with the Bitcoin Technical Support section.

Also, with the exchanges. They tend to just spam their advertisement spam on altcoin/token announcements instead. Again, delete, and possible ban. Yet, that doesn't stop them as they just register another account to spam with. Just because we make a section which probably isn't needed anyway won't prevent them from spamming everywhere.

I don't necessarily agree with the proposed new sections. However, I do agree that broader sections need to be created to not only help the moderation, but the readability of the forum. Although, having said that a lot of the wrong section posts aren't reported, and therefore just go unnoticed most of the time. I don't seem to get a lot of newbie reports in the Beginners & Help section strangely enough. I think its just been allowed to spiral out of control.

Altcoin Project development
The only board from the list that deserves to be added (IMO).

Beginners and help (altcoins)

Technical support (altcoins)
~Snipped~
Technical support is kind of a niche board that could touch upon some of the more technical sides of altcoins. I know that theres so many altcoins to discuss but popular ones could maybe have their own boards too. Litecoin for example could have their own. Only established coins that have been around a long time though.
I don't think there's a need for those, simply because of the fact that users can have such discussions on each of the respective dedicated altcoin threads.

Exchanges (altcoins)
~Snipped~
At the moment exchanges in the altcoin board get posted in service annoucements and that place is already clogged up enough.
I counted "only" 14 exchange threads on "Service Announcements (Altcoins)", from its last 5 pages (not enough demand + half of them are not that active).

The reason for altcoin projects leaking in, in Project Development, can be this:

Project Development
Organization of Bitcoin and related projects, bounty campaigns, advertising etc.

The tag under it clearly says that bounty campaigns or advertising stuff can also be placed in here. That would definitely draw some traffic from Altcoins to this board. Maybe that tagline should be modified so that people don't post projects that are not involving Bitcoin in any way since the board is in Bitcoin sub-forum. And users can report threads for being off-board so that mods can move them to where they belong.

Bitcoin discussion is always going to get spammed with altcoin related topics because its the first board people see. I don't really have a solution for that.

It doesn't require any solution since Altcoin sub-forum has its own discussion board named Altcoin Discussion. Any topics related to altcoins posted in Bitcoin Discussion should be reported immediately and would get moved (if useful) or trashed as soon as a mod checks the report.

Technical support is kind of a niche board that could touch upon some of the more technical sides of altcoins.

That's true. Having a separate board for Altcoin technical support would help categorize the technical stuff between Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

I know that theres so many altcoins to discuss but popular ones could maybe have their own boards too.

That doesn't seem to be a necessity to me. Any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin should only be discussed in Altcoins sub-forum since they are all alternative cryptocurrencies, no matter how popular they are. It is not only one or two altcoins that are popular, but they are many, and providing different boards for each one of them would mean a lot more moderation and even more open space for spammers. The forum already lacks moderation in some existing boards, and adding more to them would only make it worse.

We all know about the spam problems and a lot of effort and attention has been brought to this recently with the new merit changes. However I'm also concerned about the lack of specific boards that allow clear distinction of where things belong. E.g the beginners and help board is constantly filled with altcoin topics and project development is also filled with icos etc.

I think its time to come up with some suggestions on what can be added to allow a clearer vision of where posts are suppose to go. I propose the following boards get added:

Altcoin Project development

Beginners and help (altcoins)

Exchanges (altcoins)

Technical support (altcoins)

Press (altcoins)

Mainly boards for the altcoin sub forum because I feel that the place isn't categorized enough and there is just a mass diversity of topics posted in the altcoin discussion board. I think we should reclaim the main forum back (bitcoin) and only have discussion about bitcoin in it. Therefore the beginners and help and project development should help a lot in that as I feel those two boards are the worst when it comes to altcoins leaking in.

Bitcoin discussion is always going to get spammed with altcoin related topics because its the first board people see. I don't really have a solution for that. At the moment exchanges in the altcoin board get posted in service annoucements and that place is already clogged up enough.
