If you are indeed referring to real natural silk then I do believe that you have to understand the fact that since years we have been trying to get an alternative for silk since silk is itself not good , it doesn't only harm the nature but it's properties can very easily be replicated and used in a better way.
Plus not everywhere is silk synthesized! The price might vary more than you think.
